Hello! My name is AJ Berman and I'm a Sub-I from Weill Cornell. I’m from Fairfield, CT, and after a career as a software engineer have been really enjoying the hands-on, communicative teamwork required in the ED. Academically, I’m interested in ultrasound, sports medicine, and wearable technology ~ during shifts, I’d appreciate the chance to learn as many procedures and physical diagnosis skills as possible! Outside of medicine, I’m a classical bassoonist, frequent board game player, and enjoyer of all things food (both cooking and eating).

My name is Sonya, and I am a Sub-Intern visiting from UC Riverside. My professional interests include critical care, ultrasound, and disaster medicine. I was born and raised in California but have always loved the energy of big cities and really enjoyed my previous time in NYC! Outside of medicine, I love reading, trying new restaurants (big foodie) and coffee shops, traveling, skiing, window shopping, and spending time with friends. I’m excited to explore more of NYC and work alongside the team while caring for its diverse patient population.

My name is Finn Cochrane and I am a Sub-Intern visiting from Eastern Virginia Medical School. I'm going into Emergency Medicine because I love the fast-paced nature and the ability to combine medical knowledge and hands-on skills. My particular areas of interest include Ultrasound and Sports Medicine. Outside of the hospital, I enjoy reading, checking out different coffee shops, golfing, and watching sports (huge Washington Commanders and New York Rangers fan). I also recently became an uncle and will be meeting my nephew for the first time while in NYC. I'm looking forward to meeting the rest of the Sub-Is and learning from the residents and faculty at New York Presbyterian! 

My name is Karen Ebenezer and I am a Sub-I intern visiting from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. My academic interests include global emergency medicine, critical care medicine and narrative medicine. I worked briefly as a basic/translational scientist prior to medical school, so I have a particular interest in research and teaching as well. I moved to New York City from India in 2010, and I love the city that raised me! 

I'm also a writer and a 2023-34 fellow of the Graduate Center's Writers' Institute in New York City. I've written about medicine, art, movies, and growing up in the city (quick plug for my website). My other interests include very short 3-mile runs, Yankees home games, Golden Age movies, and playing blues-rock music on my guitar. I'm very excited to experience Weill Cornell, to learn as much as possible from the team, and to become a great emergency medicine teammate and provider! 

I am a sub-intern visiting from Mayo Clinic. I love the emergency department and also hope to pursue fellowship in critical care after residency. Outside of clinical work, my primary research interest is global health, especially the resilience of health systems in areas affected by armed conflict. Prior to medicine I worked as a lawyer in international arbitration. 

My name is Jamie and I am a Sub-Intern visiting from California University of Science and Medicine. My professional and academic interests include medical education, healthcare administration, and sports medicine. Outside of medicine, I enjoy traveling, trying new restaurants, and attending music concerts/festivals. As a former competitive badminton player, I also really enjoy workout classes and going on outdoor runs. I am excited to meet everyone and looking forward to this rotation!"

My name is Lauren Kann and I am a Sub-Intern visiting from New York Medical College. I am interested professionally in Disaster Medicine and Emergency Preparedness as well as Ultrasound, and academically in One Health (the intersection of human, animal, and environmental health). These interests are shaped by experiences in disaster response, environmental science, and veterinary medicine. Outside of medicine, I am a nature lover who can often be found at the Museum of Natural History exploring exhibits and lectures, running through the North Woods in Central Park, trail running in Harriman State Park, or choreographing wedding flash mobs. I completed my longest trail race, a 17-miler, this August - and just in time to start working on my next wedding flash mob!

My name is Lohita Kollipara and I am a Sub-Intern visiting from University of California San Diego School of Medicine. Within Emergency Medicine, I am interested in medical education, EMS, and pain medicine. In my free time I enjoy staying active, watching college sports, and exploring new cities and countries (19 countries and counting!). I’m looking forward to meeting everyone at NYP, learning more about EM and your program, and exploring the city!

Hi! My name is Julie Mallinger and I am a Sub-Intern visiting from FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine in Miami! I am interested in pediatrics and global health. When I’m not studying or working, I am usually training for a marathon, trying new coffee shops, or spending time with friends.

My name is Dikachi Osaji and I am a Sub-Intern visiting from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.

I am interested in Emergency Medicine and the intersection of clinical care, health systems and hospital operations.I am also interested in leadership and administration specifically  how thoughtful systems can enhance both patient care and the experience of healthcare teams.

I am an actress. I also enjoy knitting, crocheting, and baking. Plus I have a background in event planning. I especially love putting together memorable experiences and discovering new places. I look forward to learning and working with the team!

My name is Darwin and I am a Sub-Intern visiting from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine. My professional interests are social emergency medicine, global health and Medical Spanish. I am very big on spending time with my loved ones, plane spotting and exploring hidden gems in the city and Westchester. Super grateful to continue growing in the city that raised me!

My name is Nicholas (Nick) Shupin and I am a Sub-Intern visiting from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Within Emergency Medicine, my professional interests include critical care, ultrasound, and disaster medicine, with a particular interest in resuscitation, treating underserved populations, and the management of critically ill patients in high-acuity emergency settings. Outside of medicine, I enjoy playing guitar, deep-sea fishing trips with friends and family, and playing golf to scratch my competitive itch without aggravating injuries from my previous wrestling career. I look forward to learning from the department and working with the team during my rotation at NYP!

My name is Surbhi. I am a Sub-Intern visiting from Northeast Ohio Medical University, and I grew up in New Jersey. My academic interests include ultrasound, trauma, and critical care. In my free time I love to read mystery books, travel and go on long runs. I am looking forward to meeting everyone and learning from the department during this rotation!

My name is Noah Williams and I am a Sub-Intern visiting from the Medical College of Georgia. My professional interests include emergency medicine and point-of-care ultrasound. Outside of medicine, I enjoy working out, cooking, and watching horror movies. I’m excited to spend time in New York, get to know the team, and experience emergency medicine in a new setting.
