June Sub-Interns
June Sub-Interns
My name is Breiana and I am a Sub-Intern from Cornell. My interests are varied but include toxicology and administration and operations. In my spare time, I enjoy exercising, exploring NYC eateries, and spending time with loved ones.
My name is Clara Choate and I am a Sub-Intern visiting from Weill Cornell Medical College. I am applying into OBGYN in the upcoming cycle and am particularly interested in reproductive health, LGBTQ healthcare, and healthcare systems/operations. My experiences running a LGBTQ mental healthcare clinic and as a certified birth doula have shaped my interest in building trusting patient relationships and improving access to care for underserved populations. I am also currently involved in an emergency department quality improvement research project focused on improving access to contraception through provider education and clinical workflow development. Outside of medicine, I love being active (pilates, hot yoga, lifting, running), photography, finding new coffee shops around NYC, and supporting struggling New York sports teams. I'm excited to learn from the team and work alongside the EM faculty this month!
My name is Milisia Fam and I am a Sub-Intern from Weill Cornell Medicine. I am currently interested in ultrasound and global/disaster medicine. My hobbies include reading and traveling.
Hi, my name is Nicole Frontera and I am a visiting sub-intern from Weill Cornell! I am a fourth year medical student applying into OB/GYN this cycle, with passions for critical care and trauma-informed care. I have volunteered as an EMT for years prior to medical school and currently volunteer with the VIP program at Cornell. My interests include ultrasound, reproductive emergencies, caring for undifferentiated patients in fast paced settings, and health equity in acute care settings. I hope that this rotation will help sharpen my ability to make a differential diagnosis, hone fast-paced clinical decision-making, and learn new procedures! In my free time, I love to cook and explore the city. I’m looking forward to meeting and learning from the residents and faculty!
My name is Lyle and I am a Sub-Intern from Columbia completing my home rotation. My professional interests include ultrasound and global health. Outside of the hospital, I’m usually trying to stay balanced with hot yoga, practicing my photography across the city, or thinking about the next diving and snorkeling trip. I’m looking forward to working with the team and getting to know everyone this month!
My name is Mickey Jackson and I am a Sub-Intern from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. My academic interests include emergency medicine, medical education, simulation, and critical care. Prior to medical school, I served as a combat medic in the U.S. Army, which played a major role in my decision to pursue medicine.
Outside of medicine, I enjoy spending time outdoors, especially hiking, fishing, and exploring new places with my wife. I also enjoy mentoring and teaching, and have spent much of my academic career working as a tutor and advisor for other students. I am excited to meet everyone and learn from the department during my rotation.
My name is Brandon Moore and I am a sub-intern visiting from Columbia VP&S. My professional interests are in social emergency medicine, health systems & health policy, and LGBTQ+ health. I’m originally from San Diego, so I love to get outdoors and run, hike/backpack, and head to the beach as much as I can! I’m very grateful to be able to learn from the NYP EM team, and look forward to seeing some familiar faces at the 168th St. ED, as well as to meeting the faculty and residents at Weill Cornell, too. Thanks for having me!
My name is Shrinidhi and I am a Sub-Intern visiting from Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar. My academic interests include psychiatry and patient care in acute clinical settings, and I’m excited to learn more about emergency medicine during this rotation.
Outside of medicine, I enjoy swimming and playing the piano. I’m looking forward to meeting the team and learning from everyone during this rotation.
Hi! My name is Elizabeth Stassenko, but I normally go by Lizzie! Although I am applying into OB/Gyn, I thoroughly enjoyed the Emergency Medicine clerkship as an M3. I value how both specialties offer high acuity cases, hands-on work, and the opportunity to intervene and help patients in vulnerable situations. On the EM Sub-I I’m excited to get exposure to a wide range of pathologies, critical care, and POCUS! Outside of medicine, I love to play tennis, indoor cycle, spend as much time outdoors as possible, and listen to music/go to concerts! I am looking forward to being a part of the EM team at NYP in June!
My name is Lorenzo Justin Talbot-Foote and I am a Sub-Intern visiting from Columbia University VP&S. I am from the San Francisco Bay Area but moved to New York City 11 years ago to study Biomedical Engineering at Columbia. I began my career in healthcare as a Patient Navigator in the Milstein ED and the Ambulatory Care Clinics screening folks for social needs and connecting them to community resources. I also helped train college interns and medical clerkship students to perform these tasks and love collaborative work. Following this, I worked as a Case Manager for a novel Pediatric Psychiatry program housed within the Audubon Clinic during the unprecedented pediatric mental health crisis brought on my the pandemic. I continued my work with the community in Medical School as a Clinical Student and Leader of Columbia’s Q Clinic serving under or uninsured folks and focusing on serving the LGBTQIA+ Community for all of their primary care needs. While I appreciate the value of primary care, I fell in love with the acute aspects of medicine during my training and have a passionate interest in Critical Care, Medical Education particularly Simulation, and Holistic Humanistic Medical Practice. One niche interest of mine is the science and wisdom of Alternative and Holistic medical practices. In the future I hope to incorporate some of these principles into patient education to empower them in their wellness and pass them on to my colleagues to help cope with the demands of our work. I made it a goal to find balance between academics and wellness in medical school and found joy in helping restore the Broadway Haven Players and have starred in all of the Musicals during my time in medical school. I also perform locally as a singer, enjoy exploring the plethora of food spots in NYC, reading and writing fantasy works, and like to be active in the outdoors exploring NYC parks and venturing into nature whenever I can. I hope to learn all that I can during this rotation and hope to hone my technical skills in procedures as well as my clinical efficiency in the hopes of getting all I can out of my time in the vibrant and varied emergency room setting.
My name is Serena Zampino and I am completing my home sub-internship here at Weill Cornell. I am very excited to apply into Emergency Medicine and hope to focus on health equity through the lens of global health and quality improvement projects throughout my career. Outside of the hospital, you can find me weightlifting, running, hiking, and cooking a wide variety of mid-tier meals to fuel my love for outdoor activities. I cannot wait to work hard, learn, and hopefully make meaningful connections throughout my month in your department!
