The Nox Gigas Study (Night Giant) study in Latin is a repository of my field research and subsequent theories. My book "Sasquatch Signs" The Forest Signs of Sasquatch "Nox Gigas" details my research of Tree and Stick Structures that I believe are the forest signs of Sasquatch. The physical evidence of these tree and stick structures are irrefutable proof of the existence of Relict Hominids.
The Nox Gigas thrives at night dwelling in Riparian forests, Mountain regions, Coastal and in-land islands, caves and Karst systems and on the periphery of urban sprawl. They have survived disease of virtual genocide and have rebounded to flourish in numbers. The encroachment of urban sprawl and large scale agricultural practices are dwindling their habitat and setting a convergence of Homo sapien and Homo ferus that can no longer be ignored by main stream science. Thank you for taking interest.. Now take your time and discover the world of the Nox Gigas as I have!

Nebraska BFRO Expedition
Oct 6th – 8th 2011
Pine Ridge National Forest
I arrived at Pine Ridge National Forest in the NW corner of the Nebraska Panhandle around noon on Thursday Oct 6th. The BFRO investigators where already there and had come the night before. Mitch and Tom S, Kirk B,, Jim S, Todd P and Glen, with newbies Paul L, myself ,Scott arrived Friday morning and two from Colorado a Mother and her son. (I’m sorry I can’t place their name)Each person set up camp a little farther apart from base camp my was located near the running stream, Kirk was down two hundred yards from mine and Paul had a spot by the timber another few hundred yards from Kirk. The Mother and son from Colorado camped in the farthest spot from camp. We had gathered wood for a fire and met at base camp around 6pm to discuss the night ops. Mitch the BFRO leader had all the airs of Indiana Jones and reeked with confidence in our mission.
There was no lack of experience on this expedition. Kirk B had shot the first FLIR video of Bigfoot in New Mexico 2009. Todd had done extensive research in Colorado and Jim had attended every BFRO expedition in 2009. We had the R2D2 unit which sat above a vehicle and could run 360 degree thermal. Advanced 4th Generation night vision, you could see mice running around on a hill with this technology. Mitch and Tom had been on Expeditions in Washington State, Colorado and Utah, with researching the Pine Ridge for years. It was exciting to hear these stories and experiences that I had shared. I began to feel that this maybe more than I had expected. Personally I had a feeling of dread and anxiety that hung onto me the whole time I was there. The reasons for this became apparent later as much of this research needs time to contemplate what had occurred.
Thursday night ops were coordinated by Mitch. He had Todd, Glenn, Kirk and I ascend the ridgeline above camp. He then took Paul and the Colorado family with him down into the timber. Mitch led howls and calls back and forth between our position on the bluff and his down in the timber. Tom and Jim stayed in Base camp to listen from that location. My group hiked up the steep incline through the Pine timbers and climbed above a large rock out cropping. Kirk took pics on our way up and back down to camp. After we returned a howl from Mitch we stopped and listened. An owl sound came rapidly up the bluff and surprised us as it came to a stop just below us. It didn’t have the warble at the end of its call as it was heard around camp earlier and seemed to be a mimicking sound. It really sounded more like a horse neighing three times loudly as it approached from a distance and closed in quickly. Just as it came to a stop something grunted just below where I was holding the microphone. Todd remarked that it’s here and I became struck with excitement and fear all at once. It started to rain and the wind picked up so after a short while we descended back to camp to ride out the rain by the fire.
Mitch’s group had a tree break and calls from the timber that had them wound up. Paul had exclaimed that the Squatch were all around them. Mitch had used Samurai chatter similar to Ron Moorhead’s to illicit a reaction. Paul, Kirk and I decided to go back down to the timber and take Kirks FLIR with us to try and get some footage. Kirk is from South Dakota but lives in Washington State and had many encounters with Bigfoot. He assured us no one has been injured on these expeditions. When we reached the timbered are we got out of Paul’s truck. Immediately a tree could be heard being pushed down. I was surprised at the quick reaction to our presence. Paul was shook up and I could tell he had a very emotional experience here earlier. It took real bravery to come back and face your fears in the darkness of the wilderness. Paul is a seasoned hunter and outdoorsman who had hunted Bear. He is a man’s man and he had experienced something that had him rattled. The feeling of anxiety and fear was strong in this area. You could not escape it. It was like the air was charged with this flight hormone/energy that made you want to leave. We decided to go ahead and walk the two track together and Kirk scanned the FLIR. As we walked something was trailing back in the timber a ways. After a while we reached a field and there were signs of cows/dung. Kirk had us practice a few whoops and nothing returned our calls. It was after three AM so we decided to hike back and drive to base camp.
When I returned to base camp Paul dropped me off and the feeling of being alone and vulnerable was evident. Fear had a grip on me and I struggled with why I had put myself in this situation! I urinated quickly and crawled into the back of the Durango where I was planning to sleep and keep an eye out for Bigfoot. I dosed off and something had scraped the side of my truck. I had a dream or visualization of a female hairy face that said to “not to be afraid you will not be hurt” in a comforting manner. I was confused with this and thought my mind was trying to cope with the situation. This seemed real at the time and from what I know now is an eerie revelation. I awoke early Friday morning and shot some video of the fresh water stream that came by my site and the surrounding Dakota Sandstone. It seems that Bigfoot is well and alive here in the Pine Ridge, I can’t readily explain these experiences.
I met up with the guys at base camp and we discussed the previous night’s action. Mitch seemed disheveled. He was not real coherent and confident as the day before. “He was almost a different person all together”. I was baffled but had just met him and thought maybe he had too much wine at the camp fire. Scott came into camp around noon and had missed the first night. He was from Lincoln too! Mitch took us on a caravan style drive through the timbered bluffs and we stopped at another location to scout. He told me to look at the top of the bluffs for Bigfoot. I scanned the area but saw nothing. We went into Chadron for supplies and returned for Fridays night’s cookout. When we returned to camp Kirks tent was about twenty feet up in a tree. I wanted to believe it was the wind but it seemed to indicate a strong message by the Alpha male to leave. Kirk was able to get his tent down and moved it close to my camp.
Mitch cooked steaks and baked potatoes on the campfire. We ate well and discussed a different approach for Friday night. The plan was to sound blast the Samurai chatter “Sierra sounds “and have strobe lights and glow sticks tied to the trees. We all stayed in camp and waited for the Bigfoot to come to us. The R2 D2 unit was right by my camp and Kirk was running his FLIR there too. Mitch played the sierra sounds and it carried throughout the canyon. The spooky eerie feeling still was in the air. I couldn’t shake that feeling the whole time. It began to rain and we talked by the campfire but it was very quiet compared to the first night. Jim S showed me how to use a wood block for a wood knocker. He also told me that the Bigfoot are near urban areas too and that if there had been past sightings in the area they are most likely still there! That got me thinking about Wilderness park near my home and Salt Creek sightings? Todd played the Colorado howl he had recorded in 2009 with Stan Courtney. It was an eerie sound and foreshadowed to me the range of mimicking and vocalizations Bigfoot are capable of. I went to bed with the sight of glow sticks around me in the timber and the R2 D2 unit going. It was surreal for me that this is what I had come for but it was mixed with angst because of the heavy feeling of fear in the air that would not go away. I got the impression we were not wanted here.
The rains continued into the morning and I packed up what I had on the ground and put it in my truck. Kirk, Paul and I went to town for breakfast. We talked for several hours as it continued a deluge outside. Kirk confided to us that we had visitors in camp Friday morning. He said that during the night Mitch was awoken to a paralyzing feeling. Kirk referred to it that Mitch got zapped. Paul and I were unsure how to take this but Kirk had been forthright with us all along; there was no reason to embellish this. I had noticed something had affected Mitch adversely that morning compared to the day before. Kirk explained that this phenomenon has occurred to other researchers in the field with Bigfoot. He compared it to infrasound used by Tigers to stun their prey. I surmised Mitch was being punished by the Alpha male for bringing us to their home. This was absolutely astonishing to me to even consider the possibility of infrasound but yet the circumstances pointed to it. The rest of the expeditioners showed up in Chadron and had lunch with us. The rain was to continue all day and Mitch decided to pull the plug on the last night. I had already packed all my gear and had thought we may be moving camp. It was so difficult to travel with the mud and flooding creek. I was glad I did not need to go back to base camp. I headed back to Lincoln with a long drive to process my experiences. I had met some great people and participated in a historical first public expedition of the BFRO in Nebraska. Little did I know how things would change for me in my relationship to nature? My previous experiences in the riparian forests would be challenged by my current revelations of the Relict Hominoids that dwell in them.

Iowa BFRO Private Fall 2012
Expedition Oct 23 through Oct 26th
Oct 23rd and 24th
Paul and I arrived in IA Tuesday evening and met up with Kate. We checked in to the Elms motel and changed for the night operations planned for DC just outside of town.
Wild life Management area Oct 24th Iowa 2012 Private
We arrived at DC approximately 12:00AM Wednesday morning. Paul drove Kate and I down a winding road that led us through the heavily tree covered wild life management area. At the bottom we had descended into a park area that had a creek flowing through it. Paul planned to drop off Kate and I and then he would drive to the camp ground area above and play recordings of distressed rabbit calls. It was cold and dark but we did have enough light from the ¾ moon to see our way without flashlights.
Paul drove off back up the road to his position at the camp grounds and Kate and I listened as the sounds of foot falls and branches/ twigs breaking as somethimg came down from the wooded area across the road from us. We could hear other movement on both sides of us and it was apparent we were not alone there.
We decided to walk to the end of the circular drive that was a dead end turn around for the road. As we walked we could hear movement around us and Kate had seen eye glow in the tree line. We radioed Paul that we were in position and I took out my Sony camcorder to try and video the eye shine with the night setting. Kate and I noticed several times flashes of white light that seemed to look like camera flashes. We believe later that it was lightning flashes we were seeing.
Kate was feeling heavy anxiety in her chest and thought she had seen a shadow move between two trees near the creek behind us. I took out my ATN night vision, when I could not get any real good recording with the camcorder. I was unable to see anything with my night vision definitively other than the trees and brush along the road. Kate thought something was high up in tree across from us also but I could not see anything with my night vision either.
Paul radioed that he was going to use the rabbit call, but we could not hear it very well. We did see consistent eye glow to the end of the turnaround about 25 feet from the road. Paul then did some wood knocks. I followed with a whoop that echoed within the hollow we were in. Paul said that he heard the whoop. There were no reply’s but movement around us on all sides and eye glow periodically from around the sides of our location. We believed we were surrounded other than the road entrance that bottle necked at the turn up to leave the area.
We heard foot falls and twigs breaking coming down from the ridge across the creek from us and we radioed Paul to see if he was coming toward us. He stated that he had not left his location. Between the eye glow and footfalls I knew that we were in the presence of multiple squatches.
After over an hour we decided to walk our way back out of the wildlife management area up the road flanked by trees. We wanted to see if we could get them to follow us or pass in front or behind us to bring them out in the open. Paul said he would meet us at the entrance.
As we walked by the turn/exit to the road that began our ascent Kate and I both felt some anxiety heavy chest feeling. We passed the closest to the brush at this location and I suspected a sas was on either side of us. We began the steep incline and walked our way up the winding road. I could see that it was a steep drop off and doubted anything was following us up the road but we still looked back down the road occasionally to see if anything was behind us.
We stopped several times as it was very steep and we had lot of gear and layered clothing on. There was no sign of anything following us and Kate said that she did not have that heavy feeling anymore and neither did I. I told her when we had gotten to the main road that I too had the heavy feeling earlier but did not tell her because I did not want her to feel scared. It began to rain and the wind picked up as we waited for Paul to pick us up.
Wednesday Oct 24th
Paul and I checked out of the motel and went to breakfast with Kate in town. We traveled back to DC to take some pictures and look around in the day light. As we drove through the camping area we saw that Carter an investigator from Kansas had set up camp. It was around 11 AM so we went down to where we had been the previous night.
It surprised me as we traversed down to the location how steep the area was as it flowed into the hollow. When we reached the circular dead end I immediately noticed a park that was there just beyond the dead end. I was surprised because I thought there was brush between us and where the eye glow had been but there was just a few trees and it was open into the park area. The Sas were very brazen to sit just within 25 feet of us right out in the open with just a few trees to hide behind.
I grabbed my wood knocker and we went to see the cave area and take more pictures. Carter cam walking from the direction of the cave and I was introduced to him when I returned with the wood knocker. We exchanged stories and confirmed with Carter that this place was active.
Carter mentioned that he had been out with Scott Nelson and Ron Morehead in an area of Kansas that was very active. I was fascinated to hear about Scott and Ron as they are working on Sasquatch phonetic language. Scott was a Navy linguistic expert and Ron recorded the famous Sierra sounds samurai chatter.
We all went to the cave and looked around and took pictures. The creek that led through the area was clear and moved quickly. This is an excellent source of water for Sas and the wildlife near here. After a short look around we decided to meet up later. Carter was heading into town for lunch and we were off to DB for some daytime reconnaissance.
DB
We scouted out the creek area going through a state park. There had been a sighting near a field to the entrance of the park. Jerry had interviewed the witness. There were many rocky ridges that traversed the interior of the park it rose to a look out over the lake below.
We returned to DC and set up camp. Steve Moon and Carter were across the road from where I made camp and Paul set camp further up the road near where he had been zapped by the campground light. We went back to town for dinner that night at a pizza place and I met investigators from Wisconsin Bob and Iowa Jerry. There were two other people from Michigan and Terry from Tecumseh Nebraska.
After Dinner Paul introduced me to Jerry and Kate and I went with them to a river area outside of town. We used Jerry’s parabolic microphones and listened for Squatch. Jerry thought he saw a black shadow move quickly up the road at one point.
The people who had lived there had moved their trailer after one year. Jerry told of his encounter from 1970 when he and his brother and two friends observed a large black male step over a barb wire fence and cross the road in several steps. They watched in awe as it stepped through the ditch and over another fence. The passenger yelled back up but everyone else yelled hell no they were scared/ terrified.
We left BC and Jerry around 11PM Jerry stated that the db park would close by then and we could enter without the park rangers kicking us out! Jerry let us borrow his parabolic mics so we took them with us to BC.
When we entered BC there was no sign of any campers or people at all! We drove to the creek area and got out to begin some wood knocks and record with the parabolic. I suggested instead of walking the creek we could cover more ground with the parabolic by hitting different spots within the park.
We spent about 45 minutes near the creek area and had some eye shine and wood knock return. It quieted down so we decided to take the parabolic’s up to the lookout point and see what we could hear from there. We listened there and did a few knocks but had no action. After about a half hour we decided to drive to a trail near a cornfield area.
Thursday Oct 25th AM
When we reached an open area just before the trail there was about eight deer scattering before the head lights. They ran quickly into the timber just off the parking area before the trail. One deer lurched out right in front of the truck as the others disappeared. It seemed disoriented and had a large wet spot on its side. It walked away slowly but kept close to the truck as we parked.
Paul stated how weird it was for the deer to stay so close to us. As we went onto the trail I brought my night vision monocular with me. We walked about a quarter mile into the woods on the trail and could hear a coyote calling. A about a half mile in I noticed something through my nightscope staring at us behind a tree. It turned its head and I could see it was a deer. We believed the deer had been following us from the parking lot!
We traveled another half mile in and decided to turn around it was after 2 AM and we had a drive back to DC. As we walked back we had no sign of the deer and no other sounds were heard. We left db and began to talk about the bizarre deer incident. We believed we may have interrupted a squatch as it was snatching the deer. Jerry had told me a story earlier about how squatchs will mame a deer and carry it away. Something just seemed strange why that deer stayed so close to us and had the wet side that may have been bleeding. We discounted that it had been hit by a truck because it should have been more afraid of the headlights. This maybe a case of wasting decease but I am uncertain.
We returned to DC around 3AM after dropping off Kate at the motel. It was very cold and windy. A rain storm was moving in and the sound of the wind was increasingly louder. I sorted out my bed and hung the sony recorder inside my tent about six feet of the ground at the back of my Kodiac flexbow tent.
I drifted off to sleep after gathering my thoughts. The wind became very strong and it woke me up about 4AM- I heard a Bark/howl from a distance and sat and listened to the wind. It was really wicked sounding like a hurricane. I was concerned my tent would not hold up and I thought I should prepare myself for a collapsing tent so I looked with my light around to make a visual note of how to unzip the tent.
I fell back to sleep and awoke again to the wind around 5 AM. I had to take a piss but I did not want to go outside in the storm so, I drank the last sip of water I had in a disposable water bottle and turned on a light to piss in the bottle. Shortly after pissing I heard a Kitten meowing outside my tent. It began to increase its calling as the wind continued to pick up. It really got loud and persistent when I finally yelled at it to get out of here. The meowing stopped and I figured the light I had turned on had drawn the kitten in.
I had an awning on my tent so maybe it had taken cover there. Either way it was strange to hear a kitten in the middle of the night out in a wildlife management park. Something seemed errie about the encounter but, I was tired and tried to go back to sleep. The rain and wind raged on outside my tent I could hear the sound of the rain striking my tent like bullets.
At 6am I thought I heard a brief meow again and the wind and rain continued outside. I fell asleep until around 7AM and noticed that it would be getting light out soon. When I finally unzipped my tent around 7:30AM I could see that Steve and Carter where heading into town. Bob from Wisconsin was making some coffee, so I got dressed and took my recorder down shutting it off.
I asked Bob how his night was and if he had heard the kitten meowing. He said that he slept through it all and that he wanted to hear if I recorded the kitten. I got out my ear buds and rewound my recording to find the kitten meowing, Bob listened and thought it was strange too.
Paul and I went into town around 9AM to pick up Kate and get Breakfast. We then stayed in town and played pool at a bar as the rain continued to poor down. Kate was heading back to Chicago so we drove her back to the hotel and said our goodbyes.
Paul and I then drove around a property near DC for sale and walked onto the property to look for any Sas signs. It was very squatchy and I took pictures of a large tree branch pulled between two trees. I also took some pics of X type stick structures. We found a bone pile covered with leaves with a hair patch on top of it. The bones where picked clean and the possum ‘s back had been broke in half. We were sure we were looking at a squatch kill/feeding.
As we left the property we drove down a road that we had been on earlier. A tree had fallen or was pushed across the road. It had been windy the night before but it was odd to see a tree down so late in the afternoon. I assumed the rural farmer would have moved the tree by then. I took pictures and we went back to DC.
Paul and I walked the tree line that ran along a corn field on the ridge above DC . Paul noticed deer tracks as we proceeded and he said that deer will move along these types of trails. We reached a point where there began a curve along the trail and I noticed many white sandstone rocks about fist size scattered inside the cornfield and near the trail about 15 foot radius. It was peculiar to me and as Paul and I Picked up the rocks I remembered what Jerry Olrich had said to me the night before. Jerry said that a Sas will throw rocks to kill deer. This area fit the description of a choke point where deer would come along the curve and a Sas could throw a rock striking them dead. The rocks seemed to be carried to this area. We discussed this revelation and kept some rocks for souvenirs.Deer hunting Pictures Linked
We reached the end of the field that overlooked the DC park area. I decided to take out my wood knocker and give it a couple of wacks. We listened and heard nothing in return so we headed back to camp with our rocks and theories to share with Steve Moon.
When we reached Steve and Carter back at camp we started to share our findings with them. All of the sudden we all hear a loud wood knock about 250 yards away into the treeline. It had been about 20 minutes since I had knocked up by the field and Steve confirmed that he and Carter had heard us knock then. I was thrilled to hear a wood knock so close and what seemed to be a response to mine earlier.
We got our things together and met everyone at a restaurant in town. Tom from St Louis discussed eye glow with us at dinner in great detail. He stated that other nocturnal animals did have some ability to illuminate their eyes in the dark and that the Sasquatch has this ability also. The plan for the night was to head to V and Tom had brought Whale song recordings to play as we went out in groups to attract the attention of the Sas.
We drove to V and Steve broke us up into groups to head out along a road that ran along a timber line and a water way. A group went to the field beyond a bridge another group went to the bridge, Carter and Steve took the Raytheon Thermal up high on the ridge and tom drove his vehicle to the end of the road by the bridge to play the whale songs. Paul and I were to walk the road that led in and out of the area.
We all headed out on our assignments. Two guys from Michigan walked with Paul and I as we went down the road to the bridge area about 600- 800 yards. We passed the entry point to the road and Steve had mentioned that this place is where there is typically a Sasquatch sentinel watching for the group. As we passed I looked closely into the thicket but saw nothing.
We reached the end of the road with the Michigan guys and headed back up the road to continue our walk. Tom started playing the whale songs and the air filled with the ancient sound of whale cries and clicks. The mood was set and I felt a bit uncomfortable as Paul and I walked off alone back down the road.
Paul thought he heard something walking in the water so he walked down by the water to look. We both believed the Squatches where becoming active and where trailing or observing our group as we walked on. Paul and I stopped at times to listen and look for eye glow. I had a feeling of uneasiness as we continued.
We reached a turn in the road that would led us to the entrance where the sentinel was to be watching and we discussed how we wanted to proceed. I suggested we keep going before turning around in case the sentinel was there. We proceeded and Paul stopped me in my tracks.
He pointed back into the woods and stated there is eye glow back there. I looked in disbelief as I watched not one but four sets of eyes staring back at us. One set was blinking on and off like Christmas lights but much larger. It looked to me that they were near the road where we had just passed but Paul believed they were farther back in the woods. I was amazed and thrilled at such a light show. I could see the leaves of the trees illuminated too. We stood there and watched as two sets of eyes walked away and the other two remained.
Two guys from Michigan approached us and we pointed out the eye glow to them also. They were in disbelief. A short time later Steve Moon and Carter Bushardt came down from their location on the ridge and Carter tried using his Raytheon night vision to make out any more detail but was unable to see anything more than the eye glow. Steve remarked that he had never seen eye glow blink on and off like the one set continued to do. The whole group gathered and watched the eye glow change colors from white to red. It was amazing to experience this together.
Steve had everyone gather to discuss what had happened and Tom asked Paul and I about what we had originally seen. Steve verified the blinking eye glow and we tried to rule out any other light sources that could account for the glow. We could hear owls hooting in the distance as we spoke.
Steve turned his attention to the horse trail where we were headed next. It was located near a field and sandy soil about a quarter mile to a creek area. We set off to that location and Steve briefed us on what to expect. They had a lot of action there this past spring expedition with Sas peaking up from the creek. We walked in single file into the area and it was very quiet. Nothing seemed to be happening this time so we waited about 15 minutes and decided to head back out. Bob from Wisconsin stayed back and he made owl sounds to illicit a response. Carter also stayed with his night vision to try and get some pictures. As the rest of the group cleared the area, we waited by the beginning of the trail head. We could hear Bob hooting and a owl sound would hoot back. It was very cold out so after a short period we broke out to head back to DC for the night.
We arrived at DC and it was cold and windy approximately 2 AM Friday the 26th. I had about four hours left on my Sony recorder so I hung it up inside my tent to protect it from the wind. I heard barking about 2 30 AM down the hollow and again another bark further away near the cave. I drifted off to sleep around 3 AM and awoke again to wind around 4AM. The night can seem real long when you are cold and tired, but the anticipation keeps you focused on every sound you hear. About 5:30AM I awoke to a owl sound behind my tent in the woodland area. I think it was a screech owl it was persistent and kept up a steady call. It became louder and it sounded more feline to me at the time. I began to smell a strong odor of urine fill the air. A strange fear took over me. I knew my recorder was about to stop because it was approaching 6 AM. The owl sound then went into a really horrifying cat in heat type sound, loud right next to my tent. I belched and it stopped right away. My recorder had stopped just before the bizarre feline sound took off, I don’t know if it was coincidence but it had all the dramatic effect of a Hitchcock movie. The owl may have attracted a bob cat or mountain lion that approached my tent. The other possibility was a Sas mimicing. I thought it was real odd to have heard a kitten the night before and then have mom stop by the following night! I told Steve and Carter what had happened and Carter he had a territorial pissing on his Mercedes lower left front panel. We confirmed something came through camp and was marking its way. I wish my recorder had a few minutes left and I would have really had something bizarre.
Steve, Carter and I went into town for breakfast and I should have told Paul but I knew he had to be exhausted. He called me and then met us in town for the biggest pork chops in Iowa. We discussed the night activities and I shared some pictures of the stick structures and tree breaks Paul and I had seen. I kept coming back to the big cat incident and the verdict is still out for me as for the possibility of mimicing. Sasquatch are known to mimic other animals and the fusion of the Owl and Big cat sound just perplexed my mind. I think that was the intent, the intelligence of Sas are without question in the bush.
Paul and I broke camp and headed back home to the Missouri river side of Iowa. I had learned so much in a short period of time that my mind was reeling. I had pictures and even rocks that were associated in some way to the activities of the Sasquatch in Northern Iowa. The problem is though would anyone believe me. This is the toughest part of being a field researcher, because the validity of all your arduous work can be poo pooed by the snarkiest of pessimists. It is too easy to discount everything, but unless you are willing to look deeper and question all that you have been told you will not find the truth.
Indian Cave Expedition
Friday 11/30/12 and Saturday 12/1/12
I traveled to Indian cave state park on the border of Richardson and Nemaha counties in southeastern Nebraska arriving approximately 1:30Pm Friday. Paul met me at the BP trail heads #9 and #10 at a 1:50pm and we drove to the special use area near the trail heads.
We discussed my plan to set up camp in the special use area and hike up to the Adirondack shelter after dark to play some whale songs and do some wood knocking and howls. We decided to hike up the #9 trail to get an idea how it would navigate at night.
The trails were steep and required a sure footing with the inclines rising up to the ridges overlooking the Missouri river and below the special use area where we had planned to set up base camp. We traveled up and down several steep ridge lines until we could finally see the Adirondack shelter at the top of the largest ridge. At that point we decided to turn back so we could take a ride through the park while it was still light out.
There had been ongoing controlled burns going throughout the park down by the old town area and through the hollow. The smell of smoke and the haze of the burn were evident in the air. Black burned grass was sporadic beneath the old growth deciduous forest. I thought the burn would push most of the wildlife to the southern end of the park where we were going to set up base camp and do our night operation.
We arrived back at the special use area and set up base camp in a field that sat below the ridgelines and had a timberline that sat between camp and the banks of the Missouri river. As it became dark at 5:15pm we heard a howl from the Island that sat between the Missouri and Nebraska banks of the river. A chorus of Coyotes began howling and shrieking. I did not have my recorders running yet but quickly went to set them up. Scott was in route from Lincoln and had been held up by an unexpected dog rescue. He finally made to camp around 5:30pm. Just after sundown.
I set up a recorder (Sony) on a shepherds hook near the timber line facing the Missouri river. Then I strategically placed my Blackout IR game camera on a Shepherds hook facing camp about 25 feet away (as the IR only covers about 50 ft). Scott arrived and set up camp. Then we all drove into Falls City for dinner. Indian Cave
We returned around 9PM and there were no other people at Indian cave for the remainder of the night. Once back at the base camp we gathered our equipment, I carried a boom box with a CD of a blue whale recording and we drove back up to the trail head #9. We ascended the trail near the road and hit a very steep pitch, stopping to stay together as we moved along the ridgeline. Each step took us up higher and higher along the ridge that over looked our base camp and the Missouri river. When we got to a point where the ridge leveled off briefly before ascending again we stopped to scan the interior tree line below us with the FLIR Scott had brought with him.
The moonlit trees provided little cover for a Sasquatch and the FLIR did not detect anything following us yet. We did some wood knocks and I gave out a short whoop! I played the whale song which had a high and low frequency that I had hoped would elicit a response. A lone coyote called out across the adjacent ridgeline it was difficult to tell because as we ascended the wind picked up considerably blocking out any real chance to get a clear response. We gathered our packs and continued up the next series of steep inclines. Paul called me a mountain goat as I pushed upward, but we still had a ways to go as we descended a ridge and then approached an even steeper ascent to the first Adirondack shelter.
The first shelter was closed to the back and open in the front with a slight pitch built all of wood. The view was incredible as we looked south west from our position. The obvious reason for having a shelter here was the view, but the wind was evident as we scanned the distant Ridges and tree lines. Paul used his wood blocks and I played the whale song again, the wind was overpowering and the boom box did not cut it. We scanned with the FLIR and then moved on to the next series of ascension to the second shelter. We were deeper into the ridgeline and could not see the base camp anymore only the continued series of ridges and steep tree lines. It was exhausting to make it this far, so we sat down in the shelter and there was a half case of bottled water there, that someone had left behind.
We tried playing the whale song through a mega phone Paul had brought, but it was still ineffective with the wind swirling around us. Scott scanned with the FLIR and Night vision while Paul unleashed a wicked howl that was voluminous in its trajectory from the ridge. We were at the highest point of any of the ridges, so this was our best shot at calling in a Sasquatch. Nothing could be heard over the wind. We made a decision to head back the way we came on the Ridgeline instead of tracking another trail down into the lower valley floor that we were unfamiliar with. The trip back was as arduous as the ascent; we took turns scanning the trees below us as we looked for trail markers.
We came across some branches laid near the trail between trees; it was difficult to say if it was a Sas because a hiker could have easily left them there. I took a few pictures with my i-phone but it did not capture well in the low light. We thought we heard something moving below us on the steep side of the ridge towards the river, but again nothing was indicated on the FLIR thermal imager.
As we descended to the lower ridges a lone coyote howl again called out. At the time I just thought it was random chance that the coyote had called out. Since then I have learned that there is always a sentinel Sasquatch positioned to give a warning to the clan. Usually the sentinel is positioned at the entrance of a trail head, or at a vantage point. It made sense that as we approached the lower ridge descending to the trail head that the sentinel would alert the clan. It was about that same spot when we ascended that we had heard a coyote call. Piecing together Sas behavior to me is a lot like Lieutenant Colombo (Peter Falk). You have to keep coming back to an experience and analyze what had occurred if anything seems out of place latch onto it and don’t let go.
We worked our way back down the trail head and put our gear back into Paul’s truck. I suggested we take a ride through the park and try and get a video of something crossing the road. Paul had a video camera attached to his rearview mirror that recorded in real time. We drove down through the burn area and circled back with no sign of wildlife. It was clear that all the critters would be down by the river or back deeper into the ridges of old growth forest. As we approached the lower river area again we did see some deer run across the road.
Once we drove back to base camp we decided to take a look down by the Missouri river’s edge and see what is going on with the FLIR on the Island. Our base camp set in a field that faced the high ridges and bluffs above. To our back was a timberline that bordered the sandy ground above the river’s edge. As we stood scanning the river and Island River banks it became apparent something was swimming in the river. We all noticed the sound of what seemed like water splashing and moving across to the Missouri border side. It struck me as odd but we dismissed it to be possible drift wood or current flowing along a log. This was another Colombo moment for me. Would a Sas take cover on an Island if it had been checking out our camp while we were gone? They are known to be excellent swimmers and if they move through the water like they do through heavy brush it is certainly possible. The cold water would have made it difficult to see if the thermal imager could not penetrate. Sas are most comfortable around and near rivers. I believe this is true because it keeps humans from following them, plain and simple.
We returned to base camp with some unanswered questions and decided to call it a night. I had the blackout trail cam set up facing camp and the Sony recorder still going, so nothing more to do but see if we could get some visitors. The coyote activity continued through the night packs of coyotes howled from a distance and several lone howls occurred very close to camp. At 4 AM a particularly persistent howl sounding like it was scolding us for taking over their field for the night called out repeatedly.
When morning broke it was very foggy and actually warmer than it was when we turned in at 1 AM. We had an opossum pass near camp and Scott caught it by its tail as we surrounded it. We all took pictures with the opossum and it summed up our expedition. The Sas are masters of their environment, whether they kept a distance, hid on the Island or moved to another location out of the park is only a guess. The trail cam did pick up some eye glow that may be Coyote just within the tree line. Also the recordings had some very interesting howls within the Coyote pack. I do know the Sas are notorious for mimicking and traveling with Coyotes and Indian Cave Dec 2012 had a significant population moving through and around the park.
July 2013 19-21 Silurian Escarpment
We arrived Friday evening about 6Pm and set up camp in DC. We for Pizza (Peacock) and then started out on our expedition. Paul L, Mitch S, Cole W and myself. Paul planned to have us hit 4 places each night with Friday starting at B.
Friday Night Opts July 19th:
10pm - 11pm B -Come in from the south. There is a small park in Edgewood about a block north of highway 3. Go past the west side of the park heading north and just keep going. When you drive down into B you'll get to a road block. Park there and walk on down. You can also approach it from the north. The shelter is on the north side of the creek. The road through fords the creek, so if there is high water you may end up coming in from the north. Squatchy as hell.
11:30pm - 12:15pm Bb, park South of Balanced Rock in Circle
12:30pm - 1:15am Bc walk to pavillion
1:30am - 3am V State Park- Horse Trail to Frog Hollow
Camp - DcPark
Saturday Night Ops July 20th:
10pm - 11pm Dc Park, park lower part of park
11:15pm - 12:15am Ev State Park park by pavillion, head down trail from there
12:30am-1:30am V- Albany Bridge Trail / Upper Horse Trail
1:45-3am Gs - is a great place late at night or early in the morning. Look for activity on the ridge top and sides, from the east side of the creek at the south end. From the spring on south is prime.
Camp -Dc Park
We stuck to the schedule the first night starting at Bix. We drove through a closed road sign and followed it through a washed out road -very squatchy escarpments covered with brush and trees. We made it to the other entrance realizing we had gone to far and turned around to head back through. We reached the closed road sign and turned into another road heading to the river area. When we got out of the truck we started our recorders and Paul began listening with the parabolic, Mitch broke out the FLIR and I held my recorder as we walked out along into a clearing. There was no wind and it was eerily quiet for a July summer night. We listened for a while and nothing, not so much as an insect made any noise just dead silence. I could hear only the running water of the creek and myself breathe, it got awkward as we discussed the silence we had encountered. We did some wood knocks and after about 45 minutes of silence we decided to head out to Dbb.
When we arrived at Dbb we drove into the park and went to the area along the river. Again an eerie silence hung in the air. No wind just the sound of the river trickling through. We tried to cross the river but a sandbar had washed out and the river was too high to traverse. We did some wood knocks and after about 45 minutes a park Ranger pulled into the park and greeted us with a flashlight and a question “What are you doing in here, it is after midnight”. The recording equipment and listening devices surely gave us away. We told him we didn’t realize it was that late and that we would be leaving the park.
On to V and the horse trail that leads to frog hollow . We parked up the road about 300 yards from the horse trail entrance. We then walked to the trailhead that leads down a sandy brush covered trail. As we walked down the trail the sand quickly slowed our roll. Each step was a labor and the late hour magnified the long slog through the sandy trail. Reaching the cornfield we then walked another 300 yards along the cornrows until we were along a wooded grassy area that bordered Frog Hollow Creek. As we descended into the darkness the tall grass wrapped around each step we took. A large bush shook and something moved quickly away from us. Owl sounds began to come from the distance as we stood in an area surrounded by bushes, tall grass atop of Frog hollow creek. We were now in the described living room of the local sasquatches. I raised my recorder to try and catch a clear owl call. The Owl whoo whoa was a classic Sas mimicking warning call. They seemed to be keeping their distance. We did some knocks but there were no return knocks. It was quiet for a period and then a branch broke nearby. The FlIR picked up a deer watching us from the tree line. It appeared that nothing was going to approach us so after another 30 minutes we decided to walk back out. Sometimes you can get an escort out of an area but this time we seemed to be allowed to let ourselves out. There was uneasiness about Frog hollow that always seems to keep you guessing.
We walked back out past the cornfields and down the horse trail, a owl could be heard as we left. When we reached the van it was 2 AM and time to head back to Dc. Only four hours to sun up so we decided to call it a night. The long day came to end as we reached base camp. We all retired for the night. When I listened to the recording later there were other sounds coming from Frog Hollow- a faint sound of a voice indistinguishable and sporadic possibly a frog croak. The owl sounds were slightly different in intervals. (Who Cooks for you). There was another call that resembled a moan also.
I put the recorder on the lid of a plastic storage container I had brought next to my cot. It was a strange night encountering the silent treatment at several parks. I was exhausted, so I listened for a while as I peeled off my clothes. It had cooled off but my clothes still carried the heat of the day. I heard a thump and something rolled off my tent. I thought it was a stick from a nearby tree and then it did it again. I laid quietly to hear a stick break back behind my tent in the wood line. Is it a Sas giving me the last jab for the night telling me I’m here the chase is over? I fell asleep not answering that last question. It was around three when I finally went to black; day break was just a few short hours away. I could feel the sun penetrate the canvas of my tent. The birds chimed together welcoming the day. The dark time was over. When I listened to my recording for the night around 3 AM a tree break is heard and dogs began barking right after that. I didn’t hear it originally; only when I listened to the recording did I notice the break setting the dogs off.
Saturday 7/20/13
I woke up about 7 AM and cleaned up around my tent. I then took my camera and went for a walk around the base camp area. I took pictures of the area and walked down to the road were the entrance is to the camping area. I noticed a dead tree had been stripped of its bark from top to bottom. The bark lay on the ground and the tree had some insect trails laced throughout the wood. I stopped and looked near the road were the ground had been wet from a recent rain. Then an impression caught my eye it had plant material matted down in a depressed foot pattern. The impression clearly was different from the surrounding sandy gravel and a Sas track came to my mind immediately. I took several pictures of the print and then pulled out a Kleenex travel size and laid it next to the track. My estimation was about 14 inches long by 4 inches at the heel. Right across the road was a sink hole with trees and brush covering the area a remnant from the cave that had collapsed. DC seems to hold many secrets. I walked back to camp and cleaned up eager to tell the guys what I had found.
We drove into to town for breakfast and discussed what our plan would be for the day. Paul had planned to visit several wild life preserves in the area that were Silurian escarpment. The caves in these escarpments were the reported homes of the local Sas. It struck me as timeless how the Sas here have never come out of the caves they continue to live as they have done for thousands if not millions of years. The caves offer the shelter year round and the entrances to these caves have almost all been closed off to the public. The perfect hiding place by day and the park is there’s by night. This makes more sense to me how they can remain hidden and how they survive right under our nose.
We went to Ev State park and checked out the trout stream that flowed through the bottom area. This park was the same as the others the Silurian Escarpment dominated the topography of the area. The caves systems were the receptacles of history here. I photographed a huge arch along a trail and pointed it out to Cole. Here is the calling card of the Sas. We went to town to gather some supplies and planned to grill steaks that Mitch had brought.
Jerry Oelrich the Iowa Oracle of Sasquatching. He and his son joined us for dinner as he told stories. He had a recording he wanted me to here that was a Syncwave from a turbine windmill. The syncwave set off the Sas howl which in turn responded the yelps and howls of a pack of coyotes. It is suspected that the Sas will illicit the coyotes to hunt with them. I listened intently to the chorus of howling that crescendo the gathering of Sas and coyote. We finished dinner and planned the night op’s.
Paul had not been feeling well, so he decided to stay at base camp. I took Mitch and Cole down to the Dc spring where there was a parking area. As we drove the van down the long road descending into the wooded sphere Mitch asked me if the Sas are here and I could only state from my past experiences that they would be present. Mitch had brought some glow sticks that he threw to me and we set them up on the gravel blue, red and yellow. He then lit a stick that spun with a white light strobing brightly it lite up the whole area. It must have looked like an alien craft was landing. It was blinding to look at. We stood in the darkness as it stopped and listened. Not long after that Paul radioed that he had heard howling coming from the field across from base camp. We listened for a while and a solid knock came from the wooded area between us and base camp. I asked Mitch if he heard the knock and he replied yes something hard had struck wood. I announced their presence as "they are here"! Wood Knock, Rock throw and Tree break
Not long later Jerry comes down the road with his truck and pulls up to us with his parabolic mic’s. Jerry backed out and pointed his parabolic to the wooded area where the spring flowed too. He said that way is where they took the picture of the young Sas holding a fawn and a rabbit. After a while Mitch walked around and looked for eye glow. He said the moon will play tricks on your eyes when you are looking at things in the moon light. He asked me to go to the park area and stand but I was tired and said no thanks. He then asked Cole if he wanted to look around so I told them to be careful but they could walk to the spring head.Video of wood knock, Rock throw and tree break
Mitch and Cole left me there in the dark Jerry had drove away earlier. I watched them turn to shadows as the disappeared in the moon light. I walked between the glow sticks on the ground and became uneasy by myself vulnerable. I sensed I was being watched. To keep myself busy I went to the van to put away the cork screw I had used to open a bottle of wine. The van was parked near the creek that flowed from the spring. Across the creek was the wooded area that seemed to be where the Sas liked to watch from. I opened up the back doors and closed them. Then I went to the sliding side door closest to the creek. I heard a stick break behind me and a plunge of a rock hit the water. I was getting the classic rock throwing. I became uneasy so I walked back to the glow sticks knowing they were there off in the darkness. I paced around a few times and a huge crack like a tree was torn down burst out from the tree line. The Sas were pulling out all the tricks to run me off but I stood there and listened. Ten minutes later Mitch and Cole were wavey shadows approaching me form the moonlight. I thought Maybe Sas but as soon as I second guessed myself they appeared to me. I asked them if they had heard the loud tree break.
Nothing much happened after that we decided to go back to camp and call it a night. I could hear dogs barking in the nearby farms and figured the Sas were making their rounds. I drifted off to sleep as Cole and Mitch continued to talk at the campfire. About five in the morning I heard a howl and the coyotes chimed in just like I had heard from Jerry’s recording earlier. Unfortunately my recorder’s battery’s had died. That was the luck at Dc the twilight zone was strong there. I asked the guys if they had heard the howls earlier and Mitch stated that he thought he dreamt that. I assured him it was real!
We broke camp and headed home to more questions than answers.

I arrived with Scott Lowry from Lincoln Ne Thursday around noon and set up at the south camp near the ridgeline area. A couple of things were notable, the presence of cattle near camp. A game trail ran along the ridge, Dave said calls had been heard below in the past from the valley.
Scott set up a trail cam along the trail on the ridgeline. Nothing was obtained- It was worth a try to get a Juvie but no results. (We believe they can see the Infrared and avoid it).
8(PM) Set up Sony recorder –Hung from a tree on the ridgeline over the valley.
Friday Aug 16th
Approx 3:30 AM I awoke to movement outside my tent- I heard the bush next to my tent move around as if something was trying to get closer to my tent. This lasted for about an hour on and off about 30 seconds apart shuffling/rustling type noise. It may have been a cow/deer or a foraging critter. I have had deer move in close to me in the field at night when Sas are in the area- a lesser of two evils I suspect.
Very quiet at night, sounds tended to be magnified
10 AM Scouting trip down to the Valles Caldera: I found various structures/markers near the base camp area and the south camp. Three deer observed in the timberline on our way to the Caldera.
See link for photos of suspect structures/markers (For forum use only)
Dusk- Walked the road from South camp to base camp- this was the location of tree markers and the sentinels (Juvies watching camp) but we were unable to determine if any had followed/shadowed us.
Set up recorder along the ridge line south camp- Campers heard from below in the valley music also heard.
Osprey helicopters flew low over our camp. We stayed with Mike at the south camp fire thinking this could be a slow night with all the other activity.
Most of the south group returned and we all discussed Sas stories- There were some reports of red eye shine along the path heading to the meadow area across from south camp. Witnesses said a tree was pushed over/broke and cattle ran to the meadow. I think Kevin/Kevin and Roy had that covered real well and could tell the details.
Saturday Aug 17th
Music below then a quiet night- I thought I heard a whistle, but I did not denote the time. New Mexico Whistle A faint whistle can be heard. Whistles and Crow calls where the local Sasquatch choice of stealth comm..
11AM- went over to the meadow near south camp with the group who had encountered action there the previous night. There were many impressions some possible prints and possibly some knuckle impression, but with the cattle moving through there it was not clear enough to be definitive. I found some additional structures, an arch and X structure. It started raining/ sleet and we returned to camp to dry off. I think the rain had deteriorated anything at that point to try and cast something. I thought a tree may have been pushed down onto the trail that leads to the meadow. This is something common that Sas will do to deter people or block the trail.
7PM Still Hoyt told us about a Juvey getting caught watching base camp. He said we were being watched from across the road.
My plan for the night was to return to the meadow and see what happens. We decided to stay back at south camp though after it seemed enough people were going out and our odds looked better with fewer people at the south camp fire. We heard a few strong wood knocks come from below the ridgeline shortly after dark, so our instincts looked to be right. Some stick breaks around camp- Jim I believe had some action between south camp and his location.
Gun fire from the meadow heard at the South camp fire.

Sunday Aug 18th
Pop up Camper slap- Ellen and Brandon at South camp -this was heard by Ernest / Christine also.
Quiet night
Broke camp by 9AM and had our farewells- Awesome time I will post any audio noteworthy.
Thank you Dave, Carla, Dennis and his family along with all of you attending a great experience I will continue to evaluate what took place!
A final observation, I am a Sensory Processing Intervention( SPI) Trainer/ Assessor and have collected many gadgets to gather information, but what I have found is that using your senses are some of the best tools you have for Squatchin. Look, listen, smell, and check your gut feeling of the nature activity around you.
Good luck to all of you,

New Mexico expedition journal 2013
Scott and I arrived Thursday afternoon and set up at the south camp back from the ridgeline area. I noticed a game trail along the ridgeline and Dave had mentioned that they have heard calls from the valley below. On the way up we noticed cattle on the road and cow dung was all around the ground. My first thought was the cows could be a hindrance, but in bear country better them then me.
We sorted out our gear and met everyone at the meeting during introductions. I noticed the large tree structure with a log perched precariously between trees. The log had been cut on one end but appeared to be broke on the other. My experience with logs are that they are heavy and I can’t imagine even several people coming together to place it there. This to me was a good sign for Sas. I have seen branches laid out like this before. Another smaller log was balanced between two stumps not too far from the large log structure. I noticed a small arch structure near the area by my tent and additional logs that had been eviscerated for bugs or termites.
Scott set up a trail cam along the ridgeline trail. Trail cams have minimal success, but you may catch a juvenile so I think it is worth a try. I do believe they can see the infrared and may avoid the trail. We both set up Sony recorders along the ridgeline in hopes of getting some audio. The quietness of the night had eeriness – I have been in the woods before with Sas and the silence or absence of sound from other animals or insects for that matter can be daunting. We started up the propane cooker and boiled water in a porcelain coffee pot to use in the mountain house freeze dried packs we brought. We visited with our new neighbors and set up our recorders just before dusk. I think it is important to have them running when you are in camp, but definitely have a recorder running at dusk. That tends to be when the wood knocks, howls and whistles can be caught as the Sas begin there night.
I know some researchers prefer the parabolic microphone but I like the stationary recording to reduce interference. It began cooling off and a knock could be heard from nearby. This confirmed a signal of a Sas. When heard it validates why you come to these expeditions. People could be heard down the valley at times and the camp chatter was prevalent the first 30 minutes. We stayed in camp and told stories by the fire set up by Mike. A group of the south camp discussed what to expect and I shared some stories of my experience with eye glow. I had seen it in Iowa after blasting Whale calls at Volga. I also commented on the mimicking sound Sas will do to cover their communications, wood knocks, whistles, sometimes owls and coyote etc.
Everyone was tired from the first day setting up camp and adjusting to the nearly 9000 elevation. I went to bed after midnight around one AM in the central time zone. Time changes and elevation became a challenge when structuring the day for meals travel/hiking. I had trouble sleeping and remember something making noise moving around outside my tent some rustling of dry brush and occasional small stick breaks. I remember thinking if this is a Sas than I have a machete with me. I had read a story on the BFRO website of a Sas reaching into a tent in New Mexico. I guess it had got me concerned because I visualized chopping a hairy arm with my machete before falling asleep. I wasn’t sure if it was a cow or Sas but this went on for an hour or more throughout the night. It became real cold early in the morning and I woke with my hand feeling very cold. It had fallen asleep and I couldn't move my arm its was limp like it was not attached to me. I held it into my flannel liner I use in my sleeping bag when it is real cold. I dosed back to sleep and heard people at the camp fire talking. I thought this experience was strange because of what I had visualized before falling asleep. Had the Sas read my mind and sent me a message by putting my arm to sleep? I'm not a believer in coincidence so had mind speak left this unusual message for me.
Friday morning the sun warmed up the flying grass hoppers that clicked their wings in flight. The sound signaled the start of a new day. I started the propane burner and boiled water to make coffee. The night’s activity around camp was over and our attention was drawn to the day ahead. We planned to descend to the Valles Caldera. We set out on the road down to the caldera and I took pictures along the way. The first structure I photographed was a balanced log along the road between south camp and base camp. Then the large structure with a log perched between some trees. These structures were the entrances to the home of the local Sas. Further down the road it was very steep and a challenge even for Scott’s Toyota FJ cruiser. I saw three deer along the road and several cattle as we continued down. When we finally reached the caldera the road was closed off at the entrance. I heard a crow call out loudly and it struck me as odd because it sounded like it came from the wooded tree line but Scott pointed out a crow flying high up over the meadow. We scanned the caldera which had tall grass growing throughout the bottom land. The Elk population was about ten thousand head and they grazed this grassland. The Sas must keep a close eye on the elk herd.
We drove back to camp and I saw an additional structure that had branches lying on a fallen tree. This was a common structure thought to be used as a blind. We saw some deer and the cows were periodically scattered all along the mountain road. Back at camp we got the water boiling again and prepared to have mountain house freeze dried food packs. The altitude took much of your energy from you when moving and working. We rested between our active investigations of the mountain area.
We drove to base camp about a quarter of a mile away for the evening meeting and stories were told about individual experiences with Sas. Some of the people had class A sightings and struggled with acceptance of others who did not understand their unique situation. When we arrived back to south camp there was some chatter on the radio about a rave taking place below the mountain. Music and people were seen and heard. This could be a big distraction for the Sas tonight so Scott and I decided to stay around the south camp fire and talk with some of the other researchers. The music from the rave could be heard and there was little activity if any around camp. Scott and I were getting some recorders out of our tents when the sound of two loud Osprey special ops helicopters flew low over our south camp. Scott recognized the black special ops Ospreys and he said that they were probably doing exercises. He believed that they were using military night vision and had recorded our camp. Scott had moved his tent down by mine that morning because he said there was a lot of chatter around the fire.
We set up our recording equipment and retired for the night around midnight. I heard some whistles and stick breaks again but nothing noteworthy. The radio had some chatter about watching some ravers make out from the FLIR. The R2D2 FlIR360 degree unit was scanning the roads but heard nothing from them. I finally drifted off to sleep.
Saturday morning we had breakfast and discussed with some of the researchers what took place the following night. There had been activity across the road from us a tree pushed down and cattle running. Red eye glow was seen also. A young couple in south camp had a visitor that peed near their tent and something shocked the guy with a electrical current. They said they moved to their vehicle and were terrified of what had happened. They planned to sleep in their vehicle the rest of the expedition.
We met up with a group of researchers around 11 AM to investigate the field area across the road from south camp. I was able to identify an x-type structure and an arch structure. There was a tree down on the middle of the trail. Sas are known to block access to trails with trees. We walked up into the tree line from the open field and noticed many impressions. This was the area that a tree was pushed down and cattle had run into the field. The impressions were difficult to identify with the cattle in the area. Some noticeable foot prints and knuckle type prints were not able to cast as it started to sleet heavily. The group went back to camp to ride out the sleet in our tents. This area looked promising for the Saturday night operations.
We dried out our clothes after the rain subsided by hanging them on the brush around our tents. The sun dried off our things and we prepared dinner with boiling water in the coffee pot again and eating the mountain house lasagna. A meeting at 6 pm at base camp was planned. Two native American’s Apache Still Hoyt and Mike had Sas casts and were to discuss the tracking techniques.
We walked to base camp for the meeting about a quarter mile. Still Hoyt told about his sighting on Apache land. He said the he came around a fence line on his property and surprised the Alpha male. He fell to his knees in fear when he saw the sight of the estimated 10 foot tall 1000 lb Sasquatch. The big male turned and walked away as Hoyt laid there in fear. He brought a foot print cast of the big guy he called him that was 22 inches long and 8 inches wide at the heel.
When the meeting ended Scott and I spoke to Still and Mike, Mike showed us a picture of A Sas building a tree structure carry a large branch that was taken on Apache land. Mike and Still said earlier they had hiked across the road from base camp and had started to return to camp when they saw a Juvenile Sas running between the trees . They believe they got in between the Juvey and the base camp he was watching. As we talked Mike said there is one now ducking behind the tree about one hundred yards from us. They both said that the Juvies act as sentinels to watch for anyone that gets too close to the group. They are watching us now from the trees Still looked ahead with his eyes not pointing. I did not see the Sas but something was moving around in the tree line.
Scott and I walked the road back to camp hoping one of the Juvies would shadow us. We did not hear or see any sign of a trailer as we walked the quarter mile to south camp. It was dark now so we set up our recorders and made a decision to stay back at camp when a group of people with kids were going over to the field across from camp. Many times the action will come to you if you stay put so we did by the fire. We heard wood knocks right away and some whistles in the timber near camp so things were getting interesting early. The radio began to get chatter from the camp south of us. There was stick breaks and whistles heard between camps.
A bright light was turned on by a frightened nubie. He lit up a tree near his camp. He then came over to us and apologized but he thought he had heard something in the tree. That is a big No No on an expedition to shine lights around that will deter the Sas from coming in closer. I told the nubie to not do it again if he is worried to radio for someone to assist him. He was a young anesthesiologist from Albuquerque wearing night vision googles. He was very excited that he may encounter a Sas and his emotions were getting the better of him.
A short while later a young guy sitting at the fire with me said he saw something in the tree behind me. I got up and walked out into the darkness toward tree about 25 yards away. This was the same area that the anesthesiologist had come from. I couldn’t see anything as it was very dark but I stood next to the tree and looked up. I then walked back to the fire. It was eerie being surrounded by the activity.

W Slough Iowa
Paul Lane, Cole Wilson and I met Steve Moon at W Slough around 5PM Thursday October 24th.
Actual Time sun rise 7:26 AM CDT set 6:09 PM CDT Waning gibbous 71% of moon
The weather was cloudy and cool as we met Steve at the W Slough wildlife area. The slough is a remnant water passage (Ox bow) of the C River. We set up our tents near the woods along the slough. There is a two track road that leads to the C river from the slough area we planned to walk at night fall. We set up our recorders and went into A Iowa for dinner. We returned from dinner around 8 PM and it was getting cold already near 33 degrees. The moon had not risen yet so it was completely dark. Steve had a old camera he set up on a tri-pod with the shutter open to try and photograph eye glow. The illumination of Sasquatch eyes at night literally glow and can be seen especially well in complete darkness. I have seen this phenomenon many times in the field and it always defy’ s logic.
We set out walking the two track into the darkness. It takes your eyes in my case about twenty minutes to adjust to the dark, so the first minutes I blindly trail along behind Steve. After we passed a power line tower break in the two track we entered the total darkness of the woods. The two track continued toward the river but the darkness cloaked the trail completely. We stopped just inside the dark wood line and Steve pointed his camera into the woods. Paul had noticed what he thought was eye glow back 100 yards into the bush. My eyes were still adjusting and the complete darkness was only filtering some trees as shadows. Steve did a howl and Paul did two wood knocks as we stood silently in the dark the wood blew occasionally but the silence was eerie. Paul heard a distant knock and we were encouraged to move down the two track toward the Cedar river. I began to notice a fence line to our left as we walked and my eyes were adjusting to the darkness as best I could tell. The woods were thick with trees and brush that jetted out onto the path. At times you would hold a branch or slowly move through a stretch of dense growth. We stuck to the two track at least we could follow the trail. In the woods it would have been easy to trip over something and go down. We stopped again after walking about 300 yards and Steve set up his camera pointing it into a section of the woods. Steve had told us that he has had wood knocks and eye glow just a few weeks ago in these woods. Paul gave out a howl and a few wood knocks and we waited again to hear any response. Again some eye glow had been seen farther back into the woods. We waited to see if anything would move in closer to us. After a bit we began walking again to the river. Another 400 yards later we were near the opening to the C river. Steve set up his camera again and he gave a whoop. A tree was heard in the distance either being pushed down or a large branch pulled off of it. We listened for more but nothing happened.
We entered the clearing just before the C River. We could see the tree line on the other side. I stood silently watching for eye glow and listening for any sounds. It was eerily quiet. This type of absence of sound has been an indicator of Sasquatches nearby. Paul did a couple wood knocks and a distant owl was heard. We waited a little longer. This was the place Steve had seen eye glow across the river and heard wood knocks, but tonight nothing was stirring. We set off back into the dark woods on the two track. As we continued in I could see that the moon was starting to pierce the shadows of the trees. Beams of moon light cut the darkness like a knife. We stopped several times but only heard distant sounds. The Sas had moved out of range and kept their distance between us. It was cold but the moon light seemed to draw some energy out of me. I was more at ease walking down the two track, it wasn’t as unnerving as when we had started down the road. I suspect we had been followed as we walked in but they moved out as we were headed back through. We reached the power line area and stood for a moment to listen. More owls could be heard, so we continued on to camp. We started a fire and stood around talking as a Barred owl cackled in the trees across the road from us. I thought it was odd that the owl was so loud and close to us. Maybe it was a Sas wishing us goodnight. It was late around 12:30 AM so we all retired to our tents.
It was incredibly cold at night dropping below 20 degrees. I had a hard time sleeping as I listened to something moving in the tall grass around two AM. Around 6 I got up and took a piss outside my tent. It was wet and cold out yet. I heard some raccoon type noises behind my tent in the tall grass. When I awoke an hour later there was frost everywhere. I walked over to the van and texted my wife as I tried to warm up. My recorder was frosted over so I dusted of the frost. W slough had a squtchiness to it that had me knowing they were here but kept their distance. Another night may have drew them in but we would be leaving for YRF. Everyone was stirring now so I went back to my tent and we all broke camp. We ate breakfast in A IA and then split up for our trip to YRSF. Steve needed to pick up his recorder back at Wiese slough so I went with him and then we planned to meet Paul and Cole at YRF.
Steve drove me to an area called White pine that had a trout stream flowing through it. We hiked a ways along a trail next to the trout stream. Pine covered ridges surrounded the trout stream. At night I imagined the Squatches to have free reign over this area. Steve talked about having the Spring 2014 private expedition here. We changed into cooler clothing as the sun had warmed up and set out for YRF. One more stop at the overlook Pikes peak near Macgregor. The region along the Mississippi river stood out as some amazing habitat. The effigy mounds near here were a thousand years old and the rock jutting out from the ridges were ancient. This area was un-glaciated. The Sasquatch have lived here for thousands of years! They are the masters of the night.
We arrived at YRF. Named after the river Big paint that flowed through the valley along the camp grounds. Steve talked about having seen eye glow coming down from the ridge. There had been a lot of activity in the public expedition April 2013. I was to attend with Paul as Steve’s guest but a friend of mine Rob, his father passed away with cancer and I stayed home to attend the funeral. I was glad to have another opportunity to research YRF. Paul and Cole arrived and we set up camp. A short while later Bob Barhite arrived who is a Wisconsin investigator who was originally from Waukon near the YRF. I met Bob last October 2012 in a private expedition Steve had at D cave. We all discussed our enthusiasm for being here and looked forward to whatever unfolded. Steve, Bob and I scouted out an area and Steve set up a recorder then we returned to camp.
We drove into Waukon and had pizza at Bob’s sister’s restaurant in downtown. There had been a bad flood that spring from the Mississippi that brought the water up to five feet in town. We were planning to have an expedition near Dubuque on some Islands and use boats to search also but the flood had canceled that plan. Waukon was one of the many communities that were devastated by the flood waters. When we returned to camp it was dark and a few campers had moved into the camp grounds also but it was still relatively quiet. One group had some dogs but they were far enough from us to not be much of a concern. We started a fire and got our equipment ready for the night operation planned. Paul saw some eye glow coming down from the ridge across the river. Soon we all were seeing various sporadic eye glow illuminating their way down from the ridge. It is a unreal sight when you see eye glow. We were 300 to 400 yard’s away but you could still see the illumination from their eyes. The moon was not up yet so the complete darkness allowed us to watch multiple sets of eyes move along the ridge. We didn’t need to leave camp to get some great action here.
We set out to walk the fire tower trail and try and photograph some eye glow. Steve led us into the darkness again we would walk and then wait awhile to see if we could hear anything. It was very windy as we tried some wood knocks and calls. Steve and Bob would do a whoop and then beat the wood knockers at the same time. The wind was really picking up as we were covered well down in a valley, but you could really hear it swirling around the ridges. Steve and Bob had some luck splitting up into groups, so Bob and I volunteered to go ahead a hundred yards and radio back when we reached our position. The Sas don’t like it when you are not all together as it is harder for them to keep track of everyone. The idea was to frustrate them into screaming at us. Bob and I walked on into the darkness and I listened to hear if we were being shadowed. We reached our position and radioed to Steve. Bob and Steve both did a howl simultaneously and beat on the wood knockers. It was a contrasting chaotic commotion. Bob laid on the ground and I stood listening to try and hear anything. Nothing respondedafter about 15 minutes we regrouped. As we stood talking Bob saw something moving on the ridge. It was a Sas swaying back and forth. I stared to try and figure out what I was seeing. The Sas was standing between some trees on top of a ridge 70 yards away. It was like you see on TV the Sas was swaying side to side and then it would turn and you could see its arms. I think there was actually more than one up there. I was in awe of what I was seeing. I had been in the bush much closer to them than this but I had not seen the physical outline of one until know. The characteristic swaying of the great ape was on display right before my eyes. It was an ancient dance of truth for me. Mesmerizing yet spooky all rolled up into one. All of a sudden a branch lands down right in front of us. We had worn out our visit and were asked kindly to leave with the toss of a branch. This had confirmed it to me as if it was a dream before, the branch was a stark reminder that this is their home. We had hiked a long way to that point and it was getting late. It was time to hike out back to the road and return to camp. We couldn’t compete with the heavy wind and the consensus was that the Sas would be laying low with the wind so strong. It would be difficult for them to communicate with the wind blowing and I suspect it is common for them to stay put when conditions are bad.
We retired once back at camp. I listened to the wind blow and held onto the side of my tent a few times thinking that the wind was going to blow the whole thing apart. I hoped my tying down of the ropes was tight enough as gusts blow my tent like a sail. I kept my recorder hanging inside my tent as the wind distorts any chance of recording. The night was a long one again, the frost of the night before at Wiese slough was replaced by the howling winds of Big paint. The hours crept by as I dosed in and out of sleep, doing my best to stay warm. I had to pee around 5:30AM, so I unzipped my tent and slipped on my boots. The moon gave me enough light to do my business and return to my cot. It was cold and would be a few more hours until daylight. I thought about my father who lives in Illinois he would be up at this hour, I bet he is reading the paper. The morning light was creeping into Saturday. I heard Steve so I got dressed and met him and Bob by the vehicles. Steve wanted us to go Macgregor and have breakfast at his favorite spot on the Mississippi river.
We returned to camp after breakfast and planned some scouting and placement of recorders. We took a few apples and hiked to some primitive camping where Steve and Bob set up there recorders. I Photographed some stick structures and Arch’s. When we returned to camp Paul had found a track down by the river. The track had real clear heel and toe impressions. The compelling aspect was the delineation of the mid tarsal break between the heel and front pad. We measured the track at around 14 inches by 5 inches at the heel. Paul and I mixed the Ultra Cal 30 in a bag with water and Cole smoothed it over the track while jiggling the cement with a stick to settle.
We grilled some apple brats and planned another hike for the afternoon. After lunch we all loaded up in the trucks to look at an area near the pond. When we hiked in there were signs of some interesting structures they had wood piled in small teepee’s. We reached a a fork in the path and had made a wrong turn. Along the trail were two large trees that had been pushed over away from each other. One was held up by several saplings weaved around and under it to support the tree. There were additional braces placed to support the saplings. The other tree was held up by the top end pointing into through another tree across the trail so it was balanced high above the trail. Then another sapling was pulled over the trail and under the tree to support it. I took many pictures to capture the immensity of the super structure. I was in awe of its size and complexity. We walked further up the trail and met a couple of campers who had hammocks for tents. Steve spoke to one guy and he mentioned he was a caver. Steve had been a caver before squatchin and shared some history about the caves in the area. The guy asked us what we were doing and Steve told him we are bigfooters. I told the guy he could expect some visitors here. He laughed nervously half in disbelief I suspect. We went on up a trail until there was a crossing of two trail heads. Steve and Bob started to walk down one trail and Paul went up to the top of another trail to look over the ridge. Paul motioned back to me that he heard a knock. I walked up to where Paul was standing and I looked down into the woods as soon as I looked a tree began crashing down about 75 yards from our location. I watched the crashing and splintering of branches as the tree fell with a tremendous crack. I immediately began running toward the tree thinking I could catch a glimpse of a Sas. It was incredible to have a tree pushed down right before your eyes. I tried to keep my balance as I ran through the brush and around trees to reach the location. I didn’t see anything but the tree fall, no sign of a Sas running away in the distance. The tree bordered a meadow with tall grass that was down in a draw. I quickly started taking pictures all around the area trying to catch something. Paul and Cole were looking around scanning the grassy area and looking for any movement. Steve and Bob joined us and we told them what had happened they had heard the tree crashing down. I examined the tree and it had been pushed and broke about 2 feet off the ground. It was a dead tree and had broken its limbs on nearby trees as it fell. We couldn’t believe we didn’t see any figure when the tree came down. I was looking near the tree and about 15 feet from it there was a series of twigs and branches piled up between two trees. This reminded me of other primitive stick structures I had seen that day. Some of them were teepee shaped or just a series of sticks and branches stuck into a tree. I now believe it all makes more sense. The Juvenile Sas are sentinels for the group, so they have to spend time watching for humans. When they see someone coming they alert the group to take cover with a wood knock. When they are waiting around I think they spend their time building these small structures to pass time. As Paul had come over the hill the Sas did a wood knock to warn the group, but when I and Cole approached it panicked and knocked the tree down. This is a diversion or an intimidation tactic to protect the group. We fell right into their living room and they went into hiding. We were so close in broad daylight and yet they just disappeared. Paul walked down into the tall grass to try and flush out anything hiding but nothing moved. The draw was steep with grass taller than Paul. He waded through and I panned with my camera but we still saw nothing. Paul walked up near where a few boy scouts had come up a path. There was a camp fire and back behind it was a large structure of trees piled up together. We stood there and look around thinking that there are people moving through these trails at least on the weekend. We hiked back out of there and passed a group of boy scouts near the road to the parking area. This area is very active even when people are present during the day. The Sas must be present here on a regular basis.
When went back to camp and split up to do some scouting for Saturday night. Steve and I went to the two track across the river from camp. We walked up a trail that lead along the steep terrain towards the ridgeline. When we reached a point that we couldn’t go any farther we turned back. The incline was very steep and most of this side of the river was too steep for humans to travel safely. We went back to the two track and walked further along it as we came across a spring coming down from the incline above us. Steve noticed that the spring created a path to ascend the ridge. He believed that this is where they are coming down to the two track. He remarked about the eye glow seen the night before was right in this area a little higher up. He said that they had seen pairs of little ones coming down too. This reminded me of the conversation Steve and I had on our way up from Atilissa. I told Steve I believe the Sasquatch’s have a prevalence for twins as off spring. I had seen a pattern all over the country including here in Iowa and Nebraska of sightings of twin youth. Steve said that deer are twin baring also. I believe the Sasquatch bare twins as a evolutionary advantage for such a hard life of existence. Steve thought that was an interesting observation and I chalked one up to my developing understanding of the Sasquatch.
We returned to camp and talked about walking the two track at night and Bob suggested we go to the lookout area also for our night operation. Paul had brought steaks and Bob had some seasoned cuts we grilled up also. We had a big dinner and then prepared for our final night in YRSF. We drove to the two track across from camp and set out into the darkness. Starting on the opposite end that Steve and I had taken earlier in the day we forged ahead together. The sound of the river flowing below us and an occasional voice heard from the camp area carried along with us as we continued down the two track. We stopped to listen and look around but nothing was evident to this point. Once we reached the area directly across from camp we talked about returning back. Steve did not want to do a howl or wood knock so close to the camp grounds. As we began walking back we moved through the dark with no lights and no conversation. All of the sudden directly in front of us on the two track about 15 to 20 yards away two large white glowing eyes stared at us. We all gasped as we watched the eyes turn and disappear into the darkness. I believe the Sas had been down by the river and came up to cross the two track when we surprised it. It was as if we caught it off guard as it looked at us its eyes where huge but you could not make out any other features just the glowing eyes. I had seen eye glow from a distance or peaking behind a tree but this time it was in our face and there was nothing on that two track between us. We walked to the location it had crossed and stood there a while talking. It was an adrenaline rush, this Sas must have been huge because the glowing eyes were larger and brighter than any I had seen before. I have seen tree leaves illuminated above eyeglow so I know they project light around them. This is why we go squatching at night a surreal experience that no one can grasp until they see it themselves.
We walked back to the trucks and drove to a parking lot up to another ridge. When we got out Steve had brought his Camera to try and photograph eyeglow. We quickly realized that there was a Sentinel watching us behind a tree about 30 yards into the bush. We stopped and Steve started taking pictures with his camera on a tripod next to him. The Sas wouldn’t come completely out behind the tree but continued tree peaking at us. Steve decided to leave the camera there taking pictures and have all of us walk away as if to leave. We followed his lead and walked away, I thought it was a brilliant idea to illicit a reaction from the Sas maybe looking with both eyes with our back to it. We returned and loaded up to hit a final spot for the night the lookout high above the camp ground. We arrived at the look out and I set up a trail cam on the back window of the van. I had done this a the previous stops to try and get a curious Sas on film why we were away from the vehicles. They have been none to check out vehicles when people are not around. The group had headed down a path to the look out and I didn’t see where they went as I stepped out from behind the van I saw no one. I started to walk up the road and no sign of the guys. I then whistled to try and gather their location. I didn’t see anything and whistled again then I heard a reply but still couldn’t see them. I then flashed my light and saw a red light shine down below. Paul called out and I began to walk swiftly to the sound when my feet gave out and I fell down a path. Luckily I wasn’t injured just a slight cut on my finger. I was embarrassed but Paul and Cole had fallen earlier so I guess it was my turn. Running around in the dark is not advised, you need to stay with the group. They guys were looking at scratch marks on the limestone rock around the outlook. The scratch marks were all over the rocks thin long scratches. We surmised the Sas were getting some minerals as some of the pieces of rock where clearly broken off. It wasn’t bear or mountain lion they would have licked the rock there was no indication of licking just pieces being taken off. After some discussion we went back to base camp. It had been a long weekend and it was time to call it a night.
We broke camp Sunday morning after having breakfast in town Gregory on the Mississippi river. I had Steve set my camera to take a group photo of us with the footprint cast. Steve gave us each three cast kits to take with us home.

My wife and I were sleeping in our bedroom facing north. Our bed sets next to the windows that are recessed out. Sleeping in a King size Amish wooden bed with our heads just within the window with blinds closed- you could see in if you were looking down through the blinds. At 5 AM a sweeping scraping sound was heard starting from the east to west on our siding that lasted 5 to 7 seconds below our window almost even with where are heads were in bed. I heard it and thought something is rubbing against our house outside our window. My wife didn’t say anything so I didn’t either. I usually let my dog out several times a night as he takes heart medications that make him urinate often so I was too tired to get up. I just listened and nothing more happened. That night I mentioned to her if she heard anything about 5 AM this morning and she replied yes something was making a scratching sound on our house at 5 AM.
I didn’t say anything to her but I was thinking a Sas may have visited us. The sound was loud enough for us both to hear clearly. I looked outside that afternoon when I came home but couldn’t see anything unusual around our window there are two small bushes. The waxing crescent moon is at 15% illumination one of the darkest nights of the month. It would be difficult to see a Sas at that time given the low light.

The Thursday cookout was held at WP recreation area near YRF. 6PM –Steve did Introductions and a cookout was provided by Paul. I traveled with Paul and assisted him with serving food to the 40 plus participants of the expedition. We had been grilling since 5PM to prepare for the group Hamburgers, BBQ Pork Shanks and Guinness brats. As Steve was finishing his introductions a loud crack could be heard coming from across the river. A large tree then fell as the expedition members watched. A group quickly looked to see if it was a Sasquatch. The next day Friday a print was found in the area that the tree had fallen. I took photos of the casting and found four tree arches across a rocky run off of the steep ridge. There was a deer carcass in the meadow area that had signs of predation. The carcass was spread out with dislocated parts and hair. A scat pile from coyote was near the area. The area had many deer tracks.
That evening I joined Steve, Paul and a large group who set off on night ops Equestrian Trail on Hefferon's Hill Loop.. We staggered in groups as we ascended a very step trail in almost complete darkness. We stopped and looked for Eye glow periodically. It didn’t take long to start seeing some peeking around trees and decent eye glow from a distance. Steve, Paul and I stayed behind from the group about the halfway point to the top and sat on a log. The darkness around us had bioluminescence that I have not seen before. There was blue greenish light glow that seemed to float and descend. These were smaller bioluminescence that had a great numbers and seemed to be all over the opposite ridge. An expedition member had commented the following day that an insect that glows is known to inhabit YRF.
On Saturday night I spotted one on White Pine Trail with Pat Cooper (Coop) and Paul. It was a small ½ cm bluish green glow sticking out of a deciduous tree about five feet from the ground. Paul extracted the insect and we brought it back to camp. I did a little google research and was able to discern that the glow worm; Coleoptera order (Beetles) Lampyridae Families (Firefly) Wingless adult female glow greenish blue (bioluminescence) Attract flying males who glow also. Live only a few days. They are commonly seen after a rainfall. This is my hypothesis; we had virtual perfect conditions Thursday night to observe the glow worm’s bioluminescent mating. I believe we observed a real phenomenon in the insect world. In addition there were Sas eye glow present too.
Friday afternoon Paul, Terry and I walked the paint creek trail across from base camp. We noticed several springs coming out of the ground and running down the rocks. I had some observations that the Sas could walk down the rocky spring and not leave any foot prints. Also the presence of springs suggests cave systems with in the steep ridges. Water and cover are important for seclusion. We looked for foot prints but were unable to locate any defined ones. We then drove to the other entrance to the trail from the White Pine road. There we walked along the fence line that was private property and looked for hair caught in the barbed wire. I did find some white hairs and put them in my camera’s memory card case. I plan to magnify and photograph the hair to compare to deer. We then worked our way to an opening between to ridge lines that continue on like a rocky river bottom. Terry stayed behind and Paul and I traversed the rocks to scout the area. I took pictures of some interesting stick structures near the fence border between private and park land. This place was Squatchy we called it the Land of the lost and planned to return for a night op.
Friday night Coop, Terry, Paul and I walked the paint creek trail until we reached the spot where Paul had marked the trail with a rock and stick where to enter. We watched some eye glow across the river from us and then Paul, Coop and I slowly worked our way through the rocky passage. We stopped periodically and tied a glow stick to a tree branch. It was very dark and with no trail we needed to be able to find our way back. Terry stayed on the paint creek trail and planned to head back to the van after 20 minutes. He radioed that he saw us hang the first few glow sticks. As we continued farther in we did some wood knocks and had no return knocks. We saw several times eye glow, two illuminated eyes looking at us from up the ridge. It was exhausting to walk on the rocks in the dark we used our red lights to avoid falling. We had reached a point where we decided to turn around we hadn’t heard from Terry and decided we needed to get back together with him. As we returned we picked up each glow stick. We were amazed to see about 15 yards from the second to last glow stick were two large white eyes looking at us. We immediately turned off our red lights and the eye glow turned and went dark. The Sas was waiting for us as a sentinel by the glow stick. We retrieved the glow stick but did not see any more eye glow. We got back to the trail and continued to the van. Terry told us he had been growled at twice as he walked the trail back to the van. He heard something large run down from the hill in a bluff charge. I don’t think the Sas expected to encounter anyone back in this area at night. I’m sure they wanted to get to the river or vice versa and we were in their way. This was the first time I had actually seen a Sas that close to a glow stick. We had got their attention. We then drove up to another trail on the bluff and walked it above the area we had just walked. We saw eye glow on the ridges periodically but nothing close to us.
Then we went to the overlook NW Bluff Trail and ended at Larkin Hill Road Look out (1st left off Larkin Hill Road) to show Coop some scratch marks on the sand stone. The Sas were scratching pieces of the rock off for minerals. There were many rocks with four long scrapes on them. Paul did a howl from the lookout point and it carried with volume out over the valley. We then waited by the van talking for about fifteen minutes and then I noticed eye glow across the parking lot from us may be 20 or 25 feet. It was unbelievable there were multiple eye glows now gathering around us at different heights. I was in awe. Coop had a mouth harp and began playing it. They were really checking us out. I thought if we hit the lights we will see a whole group standing there. After Coop played about three sets and an encore the show was over and the eye glow gone. This was a truly amazing night for all of us. I was hyped to have Coop experience eye glow that close.
Saturday we took many pictures of tree structures near the fire tower road. And casted two tracks on a ridge off Camp Glen Wendel trail. That night we walked the Red Oak Trail Loop by Fire tower playing the Medieval Ut Queant Laxis vespers on the mega phone. We initially had some eye glow about 100 yards away but it did not last long. Then Coop juggled some glowing balls by himself but had no reaction. We had a strange experience of a bright lightening type light flash above and near us when on the trail. I can’t explain that. We then walked the Forester Trail by Ranger Station and did some wood knocks. We had no reaction there too except an owl continued to call out above us. We thought we heard a howl at one point in the distance. When we decided to walk the trail back I found the glow worm illuminated in a tree and Paul extracted it. It was too small a light to be confused with eye glow but it did have a greenish blue bioluminescence. I am glad that we had such a diverse group on the expedition, all these perspectives have been great contributions.
White hair found behind paint creek trail. Paul ,Terry and I scouted behind paint creek trail Friday. Paul and I walked the barbed wire fence to look for hair. I was surprised to find a white one. I placed it in my camera memory card case. It resembled other pictures of white Sasquatch hair so I decided to post it.

Barry Webster invited Paul Lane and myself to go Squatching on the Res with him and his brother D (Derek) on Barry’s birthday. Barry is an Elder in Omaha community. He arranged for us to have access to tribal land, even areas that tribal members do not enter.
There was no wind and the temperature was decreasing, a quiet dark night as we rode down an old dirt road into deep timberland off the Missouri river. Barry and D stated that they had not squatched in this part of their land and the Omaha people avoid it. We passed a deep chasm of a flooded out road which descended down into the darkness. Barry said we can’t go through there, so we traveled farther down the road and D pointed out another spot to pull over. We had noticed earlier down the road some horse or cow manure on the road and Barry was surprised to see it there.
We step of the road as I had my red light on; the darkness engulfed as we pass under the tree line. Barry and D began to speak to the Sas in their Native Language. Barry tells me that once their ancestors had been trading with the Sas and they are trying to open that communication with them again. They introduced themselves and then us to the Sasquatch people. D then played the tribal flute that Barry had showed me earlier, a beautiful crafted wooden pipe wrapped in deer skin. I began to see eye glow lighting up the darkness about 70 yards away. There were lightening bugs flying around too but you can see the difference in brightness in eye glow it is like a flashlight compared to the small erratic pulses of light of a Fire fly.
There were numerous Sas moving around us and Eye glow was visual as Barry and D spoke to them and played the flute. When we walked out we were trailed by the sound of foot falls as we stopped they stopped. Once we reached the road there was bright eye glow just inside the timberline watching us. Barry spoke to the Sas and stated that Paul had a gift for them sweet corn. Paul placed the sweet corn inside the tree line and D had left an apple behind for them also. It was a spiritual mesmerizing experience. Barry commented that he had not seen that much eye glow in all his time squatching the Res. This is an old growth forest that remains isolated on the reservation even from the Omaha people. Barry talked about wanting to go to the sacred ground but not being able to access it because the roads were washed out.
We then drove down by the Missouri river and made noise laughing drinking beer to sound like some rowdy hunters. The Sas at this location had shaken a pickup truck that had a deer that had been shot in the bed. The hunter from North Carolina said he watched a large Hairy person walk by his truck. The hunter was freaked out and has not returned to hunt there. I believe the Sas was angry that the hunter shot his deer. I am sure Sas are territorial and will defend what they believe to be there’s. We were unable to illicit a response there so we drove to D’s property near an Alfalfa field.
As we approached the timber line near the alfalfa field, I saw just at the end of the truck headlights a reddish/brown hairy figure move quickly into the timber. I mentioned it right away as we just came to a stop. I thought it may have been a deer but we had seen many deer dash in front of us that night and their hairs were sleeker looking. The hair on the Reddish/brown figure that I saw was long and shaggy/matted. I just caught a glimpse, I couldn’t tell if it was standing at the time or had been squatting but all I saw was the lower parts of it disappear into the timber as the head lights came to a stop.
Wood knock Res Squatching Link to some recordings by this alfalfa field.
We entered the timber through waist high grass and I could see a house up in the timber. Barry told us that they had a haunted forest at this location last Halloween and were chased out by an irate Squatch. He said that a tree was thrown at them. They had crime scene tape and silver Christmas tinsel strewn on the tree branches. We entered under a large tree structure and I was shocked to see it covered with the same tape and tinsel. It had arches and woven elements with several large trees pulled together. I thought my god we are in its living room and they have debased his dwelling. Barry said that this Sas was mean and they were not going to show it any respect. He and D began to be belligerent toward the Sas yelling and taunting it to show himself. This was a different approach from the last location and it seemed they were really trying to get a vocalization from the Sas.
We walked out from under the structure and Barry said sometimes we play peek a boo with the Sas. He told me to find a tree so I went up ahead and found a tree out by myself Derrick stood behind a tree on the other side of Barry. Barry said Ok we are going to play peek a boo now. He took his red light and held it under his face then poked out behind the tree , high then low on both sides of the tree. He told D to go and he did the same thing Peek A Boo Squatch. Barry then told me to do it and I pointed my light around the tree he said put it under your face- so I did thinking Fuck this thing is going to pop my head off , high then low- peek a boo around the tree. Nothing happened but it felt like there was something real close to us just beyond the darkness.
We walked back under the structure and Paul said he had seen more than one silhouette in the moon light on the horizon. D let out a loud call and coyotes began howling hysterically a quarter mile away. Barry taunted the Sas again saying you’re going to let the coyotes fight your battles. These guys here are going to kick your ass. Derrick let out another call then the whole structure shook three times hard and long. Paul said did anyone just hit this tree I felt it move. We all said none of us touched it. At that point we knew the Sas was right on top of us. We stood there for a moment to figure out what just happened then we decided it was time to leave. Barry and Derrick told us all to holler and yell as loud as we could. When it was my turn I had been hunched over and barely let out a yelp then we laughed and I gave a flat sound out like a nnnurhhhwhooop… trying to make a flat note that carries farther than sharp notes. It was getting real late almost 2 AM so we walked back out by some bottles tied together and the fire ring through the tall grass to the alfalfa field. Wow what an experience I was exhilarated and exhausted all at once. We took D and Barry home and agreed to return again and do an overnighter. I drove back to Council Bluffs with Paul and returned home to Lincoln just after 4 AM.

We met at 5PM on Friday the 10th to set up base camp. Paul Lane, Cole Wilson, Barry and Derek Webster traveled to the East of Macy on Reservation land near the bluffs of the Missouri river. We passed Big ELK park and took a series of muddy roads to a spot near the base of timbered Bluffs.
A seventy year old man Dennis lived in a trailer there with no electricity and his pup 5.O. Dennis was introduced to me by Barry and he was happy to have us set up base camp near the fire he had going. He started telling us that he heard voices coming from the timber at night and even heard a cough. He thought it was his neighbor but his neighbor was not home. He said he hears sounds often from the timber but hasn’t seen a Sasquatch. He replied I’m an old man and I want to see one before I die.
We set up base camp and had pork chops and twice baked potatoes for dinner that Paul had brought. It got dark soon and Barry needed to get some things from town so we came back to camp around midnight for night ops. Pork usually gets a reaction if Sas are around but nothing this time. We set out to an Alfalfa field where Barry and his nephew were approached earlier in the week. Two Sas came toward him and made some strange noises. Barry said that it scared them how close they had moved in. He thought they were talking to him like hey you called us in what do you want. Barry backed away and said he doesn’t want any trouble with them and they left.
When we drove out into the field about forty deer ran back into the timber. Sas will keep deer in an area for predation. There were many does and hardly any mature males. We arrived at the timber area and did some wood knocks as we split up in two groups. The moon light was too bright and nothing stirred. We tried to do some rapid knocking between each group and still couldn’t illicit a response. After an hour we traveled to another area that has been active.
When we arrived at Derek’s land it was very quiet and no breeze. An old abandoned farm house of Dereks wife’s family sat amongst the tree’s in the timber. He said that a small Sas jumped out the window one time when they had arrived there. A trail had been made up the steep bluff by some creating a two track. Derek thought his cousin was making a ATV trail. There was no activity there either the moon seemed to light up the area even in the tree’s.
We returned to base camp at 3 AM and went to our tents for the night. About 4 AM I heard a thud or stomp felt it by my tent as I was in a sleeping bag. Around that same time the pup 5.0 stared to bark. Deer will stomp so it could have been a large buck. Dennis had talked about one being around his place.
Then about 5 Am coyotes could be heard howling and yelping together. I fell back to sleep and remember waking up to the slightest increase of day light around 7AM. I heard Derek and Barry poking the fire, so I joined them. Derek had to be at work at 8AM so I went to Paul’s tent to get him a ride. Shortly after Paul left with Derek, Barry and I check our recorders. I had my hanging in a tree outside of camp in the timber. I had a trail cam pointed at camp too but had nothing on it but us around camp.

Then we heard the ahhoooo sound from the south. Dogs began barking and geese and birds started a cacophony of sounds. The call sounded out again – I said that a Squatch!! We turned on our recorders and walked closer to where the sound was coming from maybe a half mile away. It continued aahhooo with a kind of metal vibration at the end giving it a hollow sound! Then another dozen times with all hell breaking lose as other animals kept up. It was awesome to hear it call out as I believe it was going to its place where it would bed down for the day. I told Barry that he should keep a recorder down there often to catch more sounds. Cole heard it from his tent and stated that he has never heard that before and I’m an avid hunter. When Paul returned he agreed it was a Squatch. We broke camp and returned home after some discussion of the howls Saturday morning the 11th.

North of Macy Ne in a Timbered Bluff
Deciduous and Pine tree bluff
Around 10 Am Paul, his son Colt and I went with Barry to a location on a bluff north of Macy Ne. When we reached the top of the bluff we drove into a field and followed a fence line up to where there was a large brush pile. When we got out of the vehicle we approached a young buck that had been killed disemboweled and eaten down to the bone on the hind quarter. The kill had not been there to long probably some time that night. We noticed there was corn lying on the ground just outside the timber where the buck lay. A game camera was on the tree facing the bait pile and the buck was back out of the frame of view. It struck me as odd right away. About 15 yards away there was an area that had deer fur scattered around where the predation took place. The buck was moved up a slight incline to the location where we found it, just out of view of the game camera and near the bait pile.
The deer had no noticeable bullet wounds and we could not find a gut pile if it had been deer hunters kill. Coyote predation seemed the likely suspect as the bait pile brought the deer. This seemed to be a healthy deer with a nice rack, it would take a pack of coyotes to bring this deer down and there was no noticeable struggle in the area. Just the spot where the fur lay and the current spot the deer lay.
We walked back into the timber and I saw a double arch about 40 yards in then behind it was another structure with a teepee shape. As we looked around the structures Paul found a track on the leaf covered ground. He felt his way through the leaves and told me he just saw the edge of the track. He uncovered the area and a depression took form in the ground. It was a 14 inch by 5 inch at the heel track. The teepee structure had two large tree branches stuck deep into the ground positioned next to a tree in the center. Paul located two more tracks of similar dimensions around the Teepee structure. We now have corroborating Sas structure with foot prints. By the size of the prints it is probably a juvenile. We looked at some additional arches in the area and several other structures that had saplings leaning against other trees. There were many trees that had been uprooted and pulled or pushed into place. This area resembled other active areas I have been to with many structures visible as you stood and looked around the timber.
We decided to cast two of the footprints so we used our ultra-cal casting kits. I saw another stick structure that caught my eye and we all took a look at it. As we went to the front of it near the edge of the timber line it became evident that it was masterfully woven into place by a half dozen branches like an asterisk form. It was intricately held in place by branches pushed into the ground and woven to support the structure.
We needed to head home so we had to leave Colts cast in the ground. Paul covered it so we can go back and get it. Barry took his cast home to cure – Christmas came early with Operation Squatchafication on the Reservation! Delivering the hard evidence of Sas activity- This place will make an excellent base camp for night ops.

Scott Barry and I met in Macy Ne and went west of town to a woman’s home named Melanie. Melanie’s daughter had taken a picture of a 20 inch track left in the snow Sunday Feb 1st. The track line traveled from the East to West down a hill and through the front yard of Melanie’s property.
Melanie talked about frequent activity around and near her property. She said they hear strange noises come from down the tree line by blackbird creek. They have had Bigfoot come around there home knocking on windows and walking around the house. Her two dogs stay close to the house and do not bark at the Bigfoot. Her neighbor to the north of her heard war cry’s as the Sas circled his house knocked on his windows and tried to open his door.
Melanie said that she believes they are spirit beings so she leaves them tobacco as a gift so they will not bother them. She hears noises coming from down by blackbird creek at night. Her family has a bon fire in the yard and last summer they heard something being dragged down the gravel road in front of her place. She believes a Sas was dragging a deer because she could her it chirp/cry like it was in distress. They went inside when they realized what was happening.
There were deer bones and a deer pelt in a pile from a butchered deer scattered in her yard. Her neighbor often kills deer and butchers them leaving the carcass for the dogs. The air was full of the stench of dead animal. It hung in my nostrils an hour later. Only after a long hike through the snow did I finally break the smell of death. I could see how a sasquatch would pass through there often to scavenge for easy calories.
We will try and visit her place again in the spring and summer and follow up with the activity on going. Macy Winter Track Link to photo's from this investigation. Winter structures Link to Sas Structures in winter.

We met the expedition members at E V for the cook out dinner at 4pm and began cooking burgers and brats. Some indication of activity was observed by the group that there was movement coming down the ridge lines and down in the ravine near the shelter. Shadows were observed and photographed but there was no conclusive observation.
It was noted that this area had been closed all winter and had just recently opened.
9PM we met with the same members back at the Cave and began Night OPS. We walked the road that exited the camp grounds and had no confirmed activity. We then drove down to the cave by the spring and again Barry and Elvie addressed the area with the Omaha language. The group split up and watched for Eye glow in the timber. It was very cold down near the spring so after a few hours we went back to camp and started a fire. It was warmer up at camp. I suspect the Sas would stay up higher where it was warmer.
12:30pm at the camp fire we stood around and talked /joked with each other and generally had a good time warming up. A wood knock was heard in the timber as we were winding down for the night just behind us by the fire. Everyone went back to our tents and retired around 2:00- 2:30 AM.
I hung my Sony recorder up high in my tent about six ft off the ground. (Kodiak flex bow tent) and then covered the red power light.
It was very still with no breeze and in general excellent conditions for recording sounds. I had trouble falling asleep and slipped in and out of sleep most of the night because there was constant movement outside my tent in the timber sounds of grass and twigs moving.
At 3:17 AM a Peacock sound or call sounded off two times in the timber just behind my tent. At 4:30 AM peacock sound again then 5:45 AM Doors of the Van open and shut Elvie then whoops and at one point a bark responded to the whoop. (Coyote or Juvenile/Sas have been known to Bark too).

June 25th Thursday Night ops: Myself, Scott, Ellen, Brandon and Mike took a position above the river about a half mile from camp. We stood on the road and listened for calls but the sound of the river made it difficult to discern anything. Closer above us near the road in the timber Ellen and I heard movement with occasional stick breaks. Around 11 pm Ellen and I also heard what sounded like one rock clack coming from the river area. It was distinctive and loud enough to be heard over the running water. It was quiet for the next hour so we returned to camp for the night.
Friday June 26th Three AM I woke to an uneasy feeling. I had my trail cam up facing the tent but captured no pictures. The feeling of anxiousness was coming from the opposite side of my tent where there was no camera. I drifted back to sleep when the uneasiness passed.
That morning I took pics down by the river and noticed a timber fastened over the water to access the other side. Clearly this had been done by the Forest Service but I know Bigfoot will push trees into the river to stand on them when drinking to prevent tracks. With all the stones on the ground here they could easily move about rarely touching the earth. The Ponderosa Pine nearest the timbered crossing point was debarked about twelve feet high. Sasquatch will eat bugs and forage insects by debarking trees. They are omnivorous opportunists and will take the easy calories when available.
I was able to take some pictures of an old tree break and a double tree arch when Scott and I scouted along the Fire Road. I saw an additional Arch in some timber just before the turn into Town. It always surprises me how they will leave signs in the urban periphery.
Friday night Scott and I stayed back in camp for night ops and placed glow sticks on his FJ cruiser. I suggested we put X type glow sticks on the stones. We hoped it would get some attention and they really stuck out in the darkness of a cloudy night. I speculated that the curiosity would be enough to draw attention up in the ridge lines to come and take a look closer into camp. It was enough to catch the attention of the other expeditioners!
Saturday June 27th I looked around in the AM for signs the Sasquatch had visited camp. The wind had blown some of the glow sticks off the FJ and I didn’t notice any hand prints on the vehicle either. I decided to take some pics of a large stone 4 ft by 5 ft that was lying embedded in the water shed near my tent. I came across it the night before coming back from a group meeting. There were twenty or more rocks that were placed around the large stone. They appeared to have been broken pieces about the same size from larger stones. It was evident that no tools were used. This was curious to me because someone would have to break these by smashing them against other stones. This seemed odd but I have seen stones used to throw at deer in a field in Iowa that had been broken from larger stones. Until I have seen other stone structures like this I’m going to keep this for future reference. We broke camp that afternoon and took the group photo.
Thank you Dennis and Shannon! As well as everyone who made this expedition a great experience!

Missoula Montana Field notes Oct 20-25th 2015
Pattee Canyon
Rob, Sarah and I hiked up Pattee Canyon above Missoula the afternoon of the 20th. Rob and Sarah had previously seen structures off a fire road that ascends the Mountain canyon. We started up the fire road and I spotted a stump with two sticks placed on either side meeting in the middle and crossing at their ends. This was about 400 yards into our hike and approximately 20 yards from the fire road. I pointed out that you have to look for the small stick structures as well as the large tree ones. Placing sticks in this manner had been explained to me by an Apache Native American Still Hoyt in New Mexico that they are directional markers as the Apache used this method in the past. I believe the Sasquatch are using these markers as they have continued to do so for thousands of years.
We traveled further up the fire road and I noticed two stick structures that appeared to be built in a Tipi fashion. They were about 50 yards from the road and the larger one was constructed on a fallen tree. Support branches were used to hold up a branch balanced on the fallen tree. Other branches were then placed Tipi like around the extended branch creating an elongated small 4 ft Tipi structure. The downed tree lay near a mound that looked unnatural as if this was a type of marker. I suspected Juvenile Sas had built this small structure emulating the skills needed to build larger ones.
We moved up the mountain road and came across a live Pine tree arch that was approximately 70 yards off the fire road. The arch was held in place by several dead trees. It was noticeable that one of the dead pine trees had been moved about eight feet from its broken off stump. This is important to note when discerning the difference between weather and manual creation of an arch. I have yet to see an arch created by natural forces.
We continued up the canyon road and I began to hear faint foot falls and twigs breaking as we walked. It seemed at times that it sounded like someone was stumbling. I mentioned it to Rob and Sarah and they said they hadn’t heard anything I asked them to keep their ears open for something trailing us off in the timber. We stopped and photographed a few more arch’s and I heard the stumbling sound again. Rob and Sarah stated they heard it too. I suspected a Juvenile had been following us as we came up the canyon road. It seems the Juvy was so focused on watching us that it would stumble occasionally then stop as we stopped. These kinds of details are easily overlooked when in the bush but they are the tell tale signs of Sas trailing you.
I had noticed everyone who we encountered that day had a dog with them and we were without one. The Sas usually avoid dogs, so it would have been easier for one to approach us then the normal hiker in these woods. I heard a barking sound a few times also and thought maybe it was someone’s dog except the barking was back in the timber where most hikers stayed to the road. Sas use mimicking to communicate stealthy. A dogs bark maybe the warning call of the Sas in this area. I heard crow calls in New Mexico and Owl calls in Nebraska unique to their areas.

Barry and I met at Big Elk campground N.E of Macy Nebraska at 10 am. We discussed the recent sighting of four Juvie Sasquatch playing near a timber line behind the trailer home of a local man. Barry described the sighting as he had heard it from the man. He was awoken at 4 am to strange sounds in his backyard. He thought they were children but when he looked outside, he could see two black and two brown juvenile Sasquatch. He reported this to Barry as occurring on Thursday August 18th the week prior to me coming. I believe that this is another confirmation that the Sasquatch has prevalence for two or more offspring at a time “Twins”. I have noted this before and did a discussion on this a few years ago on the BFRO blue forum. We went to the man’s home but he was not there. It is the same location we recorded the Oma Winter howl . Sasquatch Twins Sighting Twins sighting 2nd part
“Hin Shkube Nu” The hairy man in the Omaha language. Barry and I then drove north toward the “Hole in the rock” location along the Riparian forest “Missouri river. The roads had just been graded recently as we have not been able to access much of this timber. As we drove along the wooded dirt road we came upon a tree pushed or pulled over into the road holding down an arch. I exclaimed that the Sas have tried to block the recent road and have given a clear sign with this arch as their calling card. Arched tree road block We continued and could see other structures and arches as we drove. The descent to Hole in the rock gave me the impression that we were getting into some really squatchy habitat. Steep wooded ravines and thick cover of foliage dominated the landscape. The grading cut deeper into the sides of the bluff as we continued to descend the steep terrain. Barry commented that it is rumored that Jesse James was allowed to hide out by the Omaha and that his initials are somewhere near Hole in the Rock carved in the limestone. We reached a point where the road twisted and turned along, passing through a narrow Rock opening “Hole in the Rock”! It was as if we entered an ancient secret place. It opened up Hole in the Rock creek that met at the confluence of the Missouri river.
We drove back along the river to Big Elk camp and discussed our plan for the afternoon. We decided to take the road up the bluff to the old mission area. As we headed toward the bluff we could see a large full tree arch. We continued and reached a steep incline that went straight up. My jeep cleared the incline and we met a tree pushed over right at the top. I maneuvered around it and we were then on a nice gradual incline surrounded by vegetation and tree cover. The old mission had a grave yard that is supposed to be one of the most haunted places around. We will try and locate it another time. We continued up the winding bluff road.
I saw a rock historical marker and we stopped the jeep to take a look. It appeared to be very old but had nothing inscribed left on it. When I took pictures I began to walk around it and noticed an arch behind it. I walked to the top of the bluff and immediately we heard a wood knock. Quickly I returned to the Jeep to get my Giant squid mics, once again I was caught off guard without my recording running. Barry knocked back and it seemed the Sas was moving away from us with the return knock we heard. I got my recording started and used my hickory tire thumper to knock. The return knocks seemed to be leading the group away from us. That’s what we believe as this has occurred before with wood knocks moving away from us. I had Barry do a whoop as I wood knocked at the same time and we thought the return knock was getting closer. Maybe we were confusing them. This continued a few more times and stopped. The game was up. Anytime I can get return wood knocks it is an exciting experience unfortunately sometimes they are too far away to get a good recording. Link to Omaha Res Research Return knocks
We loaded in the jeep and headed back up the road, winding our way along the Riparian forest bluff of the Missouri river. I noticed a blind type shelter from the road and stopped the jeep. It was located on the bluff between two trees in a V shape built with dead branches from the timber area. The branches reached a point placed atop each other in a woven fashion open to the back. The blind was a affective look out for anyone coming up the road. I walked back behind the blind on the other side of the bluff and noticed a defined trail located just below the top about twenty feet below. This trail was hidden from the road and would allow easy cover along the bluff day or night. I suspected the lookout blind was built with this exit trail in mind. The Sas are the masters of stealth in the forest and always keep trees or something between them to break up their outline. This blind did that perfectly, it is more physical evidence of their existence. We took pictures and video and went back down the road. Today was a scouting mission and we didn’t spend as much time to recover tracks or hair as I would have liked Link to video of .Bigfoot Blind
As we traveled down the bluff I spotted an X structure that caught my eye. I stopped to shoot some video and take pics. The X turned out to be two X's one made by branches in the X fashion about twelve feet in size. Another one was located just off to its right behind and was a full tree X structure a super X. Two trees placed criss coss about twenty five to thirty ft high. I believe that these X signs are the meeting place at night for the Alpha male. Barry witnessed a large male squat down beneath an X structure in 2015 on the Res. Link to Double X
We reached a cross roads of two intersecting roads when I noticed an odd hole in some thick brush and foliage of a downed tree. This was right at the intersection and I suspected a location for a sentinel. We checked it out and it was a large opening in two spots each with a view of both roads. A large tree had been pushed over and the branches and leaves provided cover. The ground was matted down as if something big had been spending time in this brush. We took more pics and noted the location.
As we headed back to Macy I saw another large arch and stopped to photograph it. The arch was a live tree held down by a log. Barry stood beneath it and I took some pics of him for size comparison and I did the same. The classic Sas arch! A great find to end our day in this Sasquatch sanctuary riparian forest.
I had noticed an odor in the jeep and thought it was maybe from some of the weeds we had walked through or perhaps the soil turned over by the grader had brought it home with me. My wife commented how much I had stunk and said that it was like poop! I usually bring home the smell of the woods with me when out in it but this seemed more foul than earthy. Maybe I had brought some Sas stench back with me as I had been in their structures many times! You must pay attention to all the details while in their woods. There are hints given to you that may take time to process. Some of these experiences have taken years for me to review.
