Gift of a Buck Skull with signs of blunt force predation by Sasquatch
I recently visited a friend who lives on a wooded bluff near the Missouri river. He and his son had been looking for Deer antlers/skulls on his property and his son had a collection of them he kept near the drive way in a flowerbed. The following morning he found in the middle of his driveway a large antlered skull and a smaller skull. When he show'd me the skulls he had put them with the collection in the flower bed. I immediately mentioned that he is being watched and that this is a Gigas Gift! Gifts
Previously we had noted arches and tree structures in the timber and believed he has activity near his home. He had whistled one time coming out of his out building and he heard a reply whistle that mimicked his own whistle. He has an acreage and is relatively isolated from neighbors. Another incident that occurred on his property involved a gift he had received of a three foot high resin composite Sasquatch statue. He put it out in his yard by a tree and it was moved from that location and the arm was broken off and the tree was broken too. He repaired it and placed it out again and the arm was broken off again. He now just keeps it inside his out building.
These incidents have occurred over a period of a few years the most recent the Deer skulls in April. I believe the Gigas have always been in this area and he and his family are now sharing it with the Gigas ( He has lived there about seven years when he built his home)
I have several observations about these incidents. My friend is a caring family man and the Gigas certainly respect him by bringing him the deer antlers. They have observed him since he moved there and have scolded him when he put out the Gigas Statue. I believe displaying their likeness or image is offensive to them as they devote their lives to be stealth in nature. He was rewarded with the antler gift when he was teaching his son about the wild life. This is communication and it is key to understanding them and the context to their actions.
Unfortunately my friend and I both are cognizant about encouraging activity near our homes and spend our time researching in areas far from our own properties. I will detail my own experiences with an attempt at habituation that opened my eyes to their exceptional ability to find my own home and visit me.
A couple of important things to add. If you find a structure DO NOT DESTROY IT OR TAKE A BRANCH FROM IT you can take pictures but leave it alone out of respect! Also DO NOT FEED THEM they don't need our help in this way. You will be sending the wrong message your food is their food. You can leave a gift (Object or marble) and if they except you they may act in kind. Above ia a pic from the Gigas Gifting.
Update 8/23/15
A few interesting developments regarding the ongoing activity on my friends property. We met last Friday for lunch and he shared with me what has taken place. He had left food out near his fire pit for the Gigas. A road kill rabbit some apples and oranges and a bag of shrimp (raw) that was going to expire. He didn't indicate leaving them all at once but what he did say I found interesting. The Gigas took all the items except the oranges. Which makes sense to me, the oranges are something they would not be familiar with. The rabbit and apples would be familiar to them. The shrimp they may have associated with Cray fish that are abundant in the creeks of the mid west. I told him he should not feed them and to put any food in his garbage can. If they take it from there it is OK. You are saying this food is for scavenge and I don't want it. If you give it to them as a gift it implies my food is your food and I think sets you up for a future problem. Possibly coming to your home expecting food and taking food out of garage fridges/freezers, opening doors etc.. Not what you want to encourage. I think I made my point this time.
I suggested leaving a gift that is handmade such as a Native American Dream catcher. Rub your hands on it to leave your scent. This may encourage her/him to leave a hand made gift in return. I will be curious how this goes. He texted me today to say that a rabbit was left at the fire pit for him a few days ago! Well that is curious with a reciprocal gift - we will see where this goes.
The other important note I want to share is the picture above is a gift given by the Gigas a (buck skull). This skull matches the nose /snout blunt force trauma described in the Townsend predation profile. I was stunned to see the missing snout on the skull given to my friend. It corroborates that this skull indicates the same blunt force trauma used to kill the buck, which also matches the Mt St Helen's study group. The Gigas gave him a skull that he had killed himself at an earlier date. WOW! If you haven't read the study please do! (Sasquatch Predation Profile) here on my site. I took these pics before the study was published! The evidence continues to gather for me!

Visitation Situation
In February 2012 (see attached link Gigas Gifting) Scott and I fastened a jug of local Honey I had that had begun to coalesce. The location was where I had identified Bigfoot structures and I believed they were in this area year round. The area had a history of sightings along Salt creek within a riparian forest S.W of Lincoln Nebraska Wilderness Park. This particular location has a large deposit of Dakota Sandstone that represents a Karst system conducive to Wet and dry caves. Not far from this location is Robbers Cave just such a cave system made form receding flood waters that has ample room for a Gigas Hominoid. I believe the Nox Gigas make their own caves or burrows in these Dakota Sandstone Karst systems or use existing caves made by flooding the soft porous sand stone that leaves behind cavernous refuges.
The predisposition for Bigfoot to have twins is a common sighting report of one or more off spring. I have posted a poll on the BFRO Forum 2014 and had a relative good conclusion that more than one off spring is a viable theory. Bear and Deer often have two or more off spring and this has viability advantages in the wild. I believe when I gifted the Honey in 2012 that two juvenile Bigfoot had watched me and heard my wood knock near the structure. They received my gift and in return visited my property a few months later and continued to visit for a few years off and on. You visit them they visit you is a common occurrence when engaging in feeding them. I was naïve when I did this and had not suspected that they could find my home that was approximately four miles from the gifting site as the crow flies. The Salt creek has several tributaries that intersect with it near my home and the Middle creek is just a quarter mile from my property. There is a small lake and a timbered sixty acres that separate my home from the middle creek. I believe this is how they accessed my property.
I began having visits to my property within six months of gifting honey. I used my mountain bike often and rode the trails near the gifting area. They knew who I was as I had photographed their structures and did wood knocks when passing through, sometimes I would whistle. In 2013 the events began to take place that I had trouble understanding at first.
In 2013 July a slap on the side of my house, banging type noise awoke me a few times a night. I had not attached it to Bigfoot but later it made sense as this is common behavior. I suspected the twins knew where I lived and were making their presence felt. It still had not entirely sunk in to me until events starting to add up. Several times up into the late summer /fall a bad smell or odor was lingering in my back yard at night. I was often taking my dog Cooper out a night as he started taking heart medication and he needed to pee often. One evening in the fall a figure was seen running and jumping off my deck 8 foot off the ground. I couldn’t believe a person would be in my back yard and jumping nine feet off a deck would require tremendous athletic ability. I went outside in the dark and saw nothing. Then around ten O’ Clock a few hours later I was watching the news and banging was heard coming from where my power boxes are in the corner of my yard separated by a chain link fence with sixty year old grape vines. I looked outside and no one could be seen. It was just an eerie feeling from my neighbor’s garden. I got concerned and walked with my dog as he went out each night. I suspected something was happening that didn’t seem right.
In late October I had several occurrences that left me shaken up. The first was one night around ten PM I had let out my dog that is a Rat terrier very defensive and aggressive toward other dogs and people. He ran straight back to the power boxes and was going crazing kicking up grass hair standing up pointing directly at the power boxes. He usually would run to the other side of the fence where he would bark at the neighbor’s dog. I wasn’t far behind him as I had gotten into the habit of following him closely in my back yard. I immediately felt fear overcome me. I quickly reached down to pick up my dog and then saw something large and black move over the fence. I caught a glimpse of what looked like a back of a foot (Ostman pad) named after Albert Ostman it was brown in color as it appears to step over the fence. I was shocked to have seen this and stepped back with my dog to think what that was, a Mountain Lion? Something totally overcame me with fear and I was really out of sorts.. I went inside confused and frightened of the experience. It wasn’t until the following day that I was able to discern it must have been a Bigfoot. They know where I live and have been coming to visit me. I regretted leaving the Honey now and was upset that I had brought this on myself. If something happened to my dog I would hunt them down, I did not want to be put in this situation and had little faith I could do anything about it.
Months would go by but an occasional scratch on the house or a slap on my siding could be heard at night. At 5 am I lay in bed and hear a scratch right below my window sill where my head was. The scrape scratch sound went the length of my window about Five feet I was struck with fear and listen for other sounds but nothing happened. I knew they were still visiting regularly. At one point during the winter I heard something on my roof. Then jump or slide off. My wife and I both heard it. I said I think ice rolled off our roof. There was no snow or ice at that time. I was frustrated and struggled to discuss this with anyone. One morning I smelled a rotten odor in my yard and went to go to my garbage can and the lid was wide open. They are going through my garbage too! I started to write down strange occurrences as they happened. I also decided to not go to the gifting site anymore to see if that would stop their visits. The visits continued for several years and in 2014 my fence line had an ominous sign. Two places along the grape vines had been worn down so bad that it killed the vines and left bare spots. This was the telltale sign that two of them had been entering my yard and I needed to be watchful for not one but two Juveniles. See attached pictures of my Fence line with Grape vines that have bare spots. Power boxes are also seen where one had hid and thumped the boxes occasionally.on 9/22/14 9:58 pm something large could be heard moving through the back yard of my neighbor’s garden. Sounded like leaves and brush moving as it moved. My dog looked toward the fence and scratched his paws kicking up grass. He was getting worked up so I told him to get up on the deck. I whistled and gave a mouth knock with my tongue. Eerie feeling...Sun & Moon 7:14 am 7:24 pm Waning Crescent, 1% visible One morning in the winter of 2014 around 4 AM I could hear something rubbing the window sill underneath where my bed is laying. Literally right under where my head was setting. It sounded like something large had crawled under the window sill and could barely fit because it just made a furry rubbing sound. The next day I went out to look for signs of hair. There was no snow on the ground. It couldn’t be possible for another animal to get into my yard. It was clear the Bigfoot were still trying to get my attention.
Gigas Gifting Honey Link to my experiment gone wrong in February 2012!
The visits have been quiet lately in 2017. I have avoided their home area for several years now. I conduct research with another clan and go to the Omaha Rez. There are new homes near the timber area that they used to use. It was the location of a natural spring lake and the old railroad stock yard. The residential encroachment has certainly kept them back from my property. Lesson learned!!!
I believe my situation was because I live on the Urban periphery. The FP "Forest People" Homins have been here long before Lincoln, Nebraska, where I live. I think (they) ? don’t want people to know that homin are in and near cities. Most casual believers only think they are in The NorthWest. The water web of rivers, saline wetlands and sandstone caves are their home here. I documented many of their structures and gifted honey to them. Two young males liked the honey and found my home via the water web, creeks and rivers and starting visiting me. They jumped off my deck pounded on my power boxes and could be heard on my roof. They would often scrape below my bedroom window and crawl under it rubbing as they crawled.
I didn’t realize it was the FP until I actually stood about two feet from one of them that was crouched down behind my power boxes with his back to me (all black) at 10 pm. My rat terrier went crazy and he stepped over the chain link fence (grapevine) that bordered my property. I saw his shape and the bottom of his foot as it cleared the fence. The Ostman pad was grey to brown. I realized they knew where I lived and all the strange noises suddenly brought me to the realization that I had suspected but didn’t want to believe. You visit them and they visit you!
This went on for several years and my wife was upset with me. Two areas of my large grapevines were worn down by them coming over the fence. I was always careful and only shared information privately until around 2015 and then I built a website and shared information freely. I think this compromised the FP near my home! I heard gunfire and Helicopters late at night and then found a series of blood trails with ATV tracks criss crossed through a field and on top of a haystack a (large rust black blood stain) that was the end of the blood trail. I photographed it all and took some of the hay. Someone had removed the large sunken stained area the next day and I found the soaked hay in a nearby creek.
I was shocked that this occurred. I had previous experiences on Expeditions in Colorado and New Mexico with Osprey type military aircraft flying low in the mountains around base camp and then hearing gunfire at night. We had sightings of black military helicopters flying along the Missouri River on the Omaha Reservation after we had conducted research with Dr. Meldrum. The days and weeks afterwards. I think they use GPS on phones to get locations etc.. I’m prior military so I do know the difference between civilian and military aircraft. I gave up taking my mountain bike through the trails of the woods near me. I no longer get visits and stay away from their home so they are not endangered by me. I still feel a sense of guilt.
I go to the Omaha Reservation often and I have been essentially taken in as a brother there. I have been touched four times through my tent by Ci’tonga FP on the Rez so I don’t feel threatened by them.

Events of 2020
Igor Burtsev, PhD (in Russia)
Head of the International Center of Hominology
He have taken part in the research of hominoids (humanlike bipeds, living in a wilderness) for 55 years till now. And just in the end of November I returned from a two week expedition in Russia having collected significant material on the topic there. I need to mention that for the last years I had experienced the broad study of the subject while spending twice by three months visiting the United States in 2018 and 2019 for hiking and presenting reports at the conferences in several States there. In addition, I February of this year I had an expedition in France, having confirmed there the data on the observations of Bigfoot around the town of Poitiers. But I got my main achievements in autonomous Republic of Bashkortostan (known before as Bashkiria) in Russian Federation just in the passing year 2020. And this happened despite the fact that in April I turned 80 years old, and in August and September had spent two by half-months in hospitals, where I was treated for Covid.
My first expedition to a forest location in Bashkiria (in the Western foothills of the Urals) – took place in November 2019, where we investigated the case of hitting a bigfoot by car. That collision occurred in the summer of 2016, when the driver Alexey Cherepanov and three girls were in the car, one of whom managed to film the consequences of the collision on a mobile phone camera. This case became known to the public only in may 2018, the video was then examined by various researchers, including Marlon Davis in the United States. And in November 2019, I visited the place of accident with a biologist Andrey Stroganov and a colleague from St. Petersburg. Then our investigation of the case was shown in the program on TV of Ufa –the capital of the Republic of Bashkiria.
Then Alexey Cherepanov contacted me and narrated that his acquaintance with the local bigfoots took place 12 years ago, when he was 14 years old teen. Once in the woods he suddenly heard a plaintive call of an unfamiliar character in the forest and when approached, saw a gorilla-like creature caught in a bear trap. And in the end, overcoming fear, freed the creature. From then on, he began to visit the forest from time to time and met that Bigfoot, whom he called Grisha (Greg), and his relatives.
Once in the summer of 2016, when he was driving a car with three companions, suddenly one creature jumped out of the thicket and got under the wheel. Then, when Alexey realized that it was not a human person, he rushed away from the scene of the collision, but the creature got up, caught up with the car, jumped on the trunk from behind, squeezed out the window, and then fell on the road, which gave Alexey the opportunity to escape… As it turned out, this creature was generally pugnacious among other members of the clan, and his name was Dergan. He then behaved aggressively towards Alexey. But one day they met in a circle of clan members, and their elder reconciled them…
And in July 2020, I with Andrey Stroganov and our colleague from St. Petersburg vent again into the forest, in the area where the accident occurred. We set up camp in the area, which was pointed out to us by Alexey Cherepanov, who became our guide, in the very clearing where the Bigfoot pyramid was built from poles earlier. During that expedition, a group of forest creatures were confirmed to be living there, and they took the treats left to them by us (food-chicken carcasses, fish, cheese, milk, watermelon, melon, etc., as well as sometimes beer, and even vodka). Once a conflict had happened again between the bigfoot named Dergan and Alexey: almost on our eyes, Dergan grabbed Alexey as he approached him behind the bushes, and threw him through the bushes on the expedition tent, so that Alex fell on it and crushed it. Later, the relationship leveled off, and this same Dergan behaved more loyally.
There were also happened friendly voice conversations through the bushes with another Bigfoot named Grisha.
During the July expedition, it was accidentally possible to find traces of Dergan on wet clay and perform plaster casts on them (their photos were sent by me to anthropologist Jeff Meldrum, he spoke about them in private correspondence that Russian bigfoots are anatomically closer to humans than American ones).
And, finally, in November of the passing year, the expedition in the same composition as before, spent a new two weeks in the same area where it was in July. We were located in a military-style camper van mounted on the base of a ZIL-131 truck with three driving axles. From the first day of stay in the forest there was a very peculiar communion with the bigfoot expedition: bigfoots were constantly playing rough games, throwing in the wall of the carriage blocks of wood weighing some 30 pounds, rushed to the door, picking locks, throwing sticks in the half-open window, rocking the car. The expedition guide Alexey got the most when he got out of the van: twice he was hit so that he fell, losing consciousness. Once they managed to remove the tin pipe of the stove from its base and hit it on Alexey's head jus on our eyes, though we couldn’t see anybody there... Then, however, they miraculously brought Alexey to his senses, so that no consequences remained.
And the most interesting things were going inside a closed camper: when at night I was there only with Andrey inside, suddenly began flying stool – once on the table, then onto a bed, then just fell on the roll; also flew the milk cartons, wood prepared for the stove, the blanket flew off the stool then lying to my face, after of Andrey, flew lighter and went to the my phone screen, while I was looking to it, and once my glasses appeared in the boots of Andrew. Once, when one light bulb was left on at night, the light suddenly went out. It turned out that the light bulb was pulled out of the cartridge: then we simply could not find it, it disappeared fully. (Somehow it’s similar to those events, when the handprints appeared on the pillow in 2018 and on the glass of window in 2019 inside of the closed house of Robin and Pat Mccrays in South Caroline, also investigated by me presented there too).
As Alexey, who has been communicating with them for a long time, explained to us, they were testing us as new guests, if we won't be afraid. At the end, we the guests had passed the test, and even managed to communicate with Dergan in person! At first, it was my job, right up to shaking hands with Dergan near the truck – for two evenings. Then it happened to Andrey. And then I stood for a few minutes at a distance of about five meters from Dergan, and we communicated in words! It was a kind of Protocol meeting, during which I expressed my respect to the forest people and promised to make efforts to create a reserve in the forest, so that people do not disturb them and do not cut down trees in their forest…
By the way, we informed the forest people through our guide that there are a lot of their friends overseas, meant in North America. Their Elders responded, that they would like to meet with the friendly humans from “behind of the big water”? they even agree to show up to the guests from there… So. Maybe somebody of you will have such opportunity to visit forest people in their native locations there in Bashkiria…
In General, we can say that the expedition was held to the mutual satisfaction of the parties, and the relationship continues now through the guide of the expedition Alexey… And the international Center of Hominology, headed by me, began to undertake efforts to create an Experienced Forest center in this area for developing communication with hominoids, to provide financial support for this work and to create a Forest People Reserve there…
This is just short information about our expedition. It had just finished, and I now sort and compile all the materials, photos, videos and writings to prepare a wide report about the expedition. I hope to issue a book about it…Probably in English too.

Two track road with the trees pulled over into arches and held in place. Omaha Rez Squatching April 25th 2021
Images that I photographed during the expedition. The images correspond with the field notes below.
Rez Squatching Expedition April 25th and 26th 2021
I arrived in Macy, Nebraska around 11 AM April 25th. I met Barry and a Jay from (South Carolina) who had been filming a documentary, at camp Hard Knocks on D’s property. Jay had been at base camp since Friday and had activity near his camp at night. He was unable to stay for another night and requested an interview with me before he needed to leave. The Nebraska Bigfoot Conference took place on Friday and Saturday. Dr. Igor Burtsev, Robin McCray and Don Monroe were meeting us for a mini expedition with our Rez Squatching Team. Barry, D, Linda jo, Delshay, Dennis and Terry.
Time can get away from you on these expeditions, so I was anxious to get my tent set up before the rest of the researchers arrived. Barry and D had their tent in place, so I pitched mine near their location. I brought an additional tent for Robin and Pat McCray as they had traveled from South Carolina with Igor. Robin assists Igor with the International Hominology organization that Igor and Dmitri had founded. I was excited to see Igor again and finally meet Robin with our correspondence of the past few years we had become acquainted with each other’s research. Robin communicates with the Citonga via mind speak. I am hopeful this will yield some interesting interactions. The Covid-19 era had kept me away from the Omaha Rez in 2020 as no visitors were permitted in Macy. This was my first time back in a year and it has been great to see my longtime brothers/friends there.
My phone rang and it was Robin, she was animated in her excitement to be on the Rez. Kenny and Art from the (Nebraska Bigfoot Conference) were driving Igor, Don, Robin and Pat to meet me in Macy. I had just finished setting up my tent and drove to escort the caravan to our remote camp “Hard Knocks”. They had spent the last two days at the conference and were ready to get into the bush and meet Citonga. Igor had his birthday on Friday and had turned 81 years old. I had brought cupcakes to celebrate at dinner. Igor told me that ten years ago to the date he was in Vancouver with John Green and Christopher Murphy. I joked with him about them drinking Russian vodka, as I had seen a picture of them together that Christopher had shared. Igor laughed and replied yeess!! I was impressed with the history we had presently on our expedition and took great pleasure in bringing our group together. I completed my video segment for the documentary and set up another tent for Robin and Pat next to mine were Igor and I would stay.
Our expedition was underway as we gathered for dinner and discussed heading down to the "Hole in the rock" for some recon on activity and tree structures in the area. I suggested Hole in the rock for the view as we descend toward the river bottom. The two-track road curved back and forth as it was engulfed on either side by the timber and high ridge line. This was a dramatic change from the hilly farmland that dominated the rural Nebraska landscape. The old growth forest expanded from the ridgeline into deep ravines cluttered by deciduous hard woods and pine trees. As we arrived at the Missouri river bottom the two-track passed the hole in the rock. (an open hole into the crevasse of a large boulder). We drove into the cluttered timber along the Missouri river and exited our vehicles. I had coordinated our caravan using walkie talkies and our banter back and forth brought laughter to lighten the mood.
We arrived along the river and parked our vehicles together. Barry discussed the significance of our location. It is rumored, that Jesse James had taken refuge from the law in the caves here, under protection of the Omaha people. As we talked, Robin confided that she had been receiving “Mind speak” since her arrival on the Rez by the local “foots” as she refers to them. I knew Robin had this ability, but this was my first experience with her in person. She began to explain that there is a group monitoring us know up in the timber. She described several males were 12 feet tall and two others were bigger yet at 16 feet in height. I was astounded at her candid remarks as I knew for certain we had at least one male as tall as the cabins at Big Elk park which is 12 feet. The latter being 16 feet really got my attention. I remarked that they would be 8 ft tall on all fours. Absolutely true Gigas (Giants) on the Rez. They had conveyed to Robin that they were OK with all of us being there with the exception of one person. We found out later who that was. Robin agreed to be accountable for the group and told them our intentions are peaceful.
I asked Barry if we could hike up into the timber and he recommended we drive the two track trail together. We caravanned up into the steep pass that led us along a tree lined two track road through the timber. We began to encounter trees blocking our progress and noted quickly that the Citonga did not want people traveling through here. Dennis had a chainsaw and we all helped move tree and branches that covered the two track. After about the third time we reached an impasse, I remarked that the trees are larger and increasing difficult to bypass. Tree structures were observed and photographed as we cleared the road and investigated the surrounding forest.
Robin pointed out an area that had logs gathered in a rudimentary square/circle. She said that the clan will gather in this location and can open portals above them here. I thought this was fascinating information as many of the tree structures I recognize but have limited understanding to there meaning or use. There were a series of arches over the two track that I would categorize as a super structure using the whole trees together weaving them over and under. The whole area everywhere we looked seemed to have ground smaller stick structures as well as whole trees. An X structure on the ground Robin said is a welcome sign. An X standing up is a keep out type sign. Very different meanings using the same symbol.
We finally reached a point in the two track that the trees blocking the road were too big to cut with a chainsaw. This was a disappointment because we wanted to reach Old Mission. Robin said that there are children of the Citonga and females in this area. We then heard quads piercing the air. It became evident that the Citonga were upset with the quads driving through their forest. Robin said that the big males were angry with this and had blocked the two track to keep them out. We watched as they passed by one by one at least a half dozen in all making a racket that filled the air around us.
It began to get late, so we decided it was time to return to camp. Igor was back at camp and the sunset was quickly approaching. Barry, Dennis, and I met Linda Jo near the access road that led back into the timber. Linda Jo brought holy water and some tobacco to gift the Citonga and do a blessing. There had been some people who had been drinking recently in this area and it was considered disrespectful to the Citonga. Barry poured out the holy water then said a prayer. Linda Jo placed the tobacco near the largest tree. As we walked back to our vehicles the ridgeline overlooked the valley as the sun began to set behind the trees. The colors were rich and vibrant with orange, yellow hues framing the background to our exit.
We returned to base camp to have dinner and prepare for our night operation. As we gathered with the group, we heard coyotes howling in the timber. I associate this activity with Citonga gathering for a hunt. Many times, we have heard the coyotes coming together at dusk with their Hominoid friends and not just in Nebraska. We ate Indian Bread and a corn soup that is a Traditional Omaha meal. These experiences bring great joy to me when a group of people from different paths in life converge together for a common interest. We discussed our plan to return to the old mission and gift the Citonga then share a greeting from Igor and the Russian Leshy (forest Dweller).
Darkness fell on our basecamp as the twilight faded. Activity around camp seemed to pick up. Robin stated that she had seen a Citonga step out onto the two-track to the south. Many of us noticed that eye glow was seen deeper into the timber peeking out between the trees. We had caught the curiosity of the Citonga with our large group occupying camp Hard Knocks. I left a recorder in my tent running and brought another one with me to carry on our NOX OPX.
The full moon was rising as we reached the old mission. Light casted from the moon gave us a view into the timber with shadows framing the darkness. It was completely dark the last time Igor had come to the Rez back in 2018. I thought we could be out of luck with a larger group and the moonlight shimmering. Robin said that the Citonga present are at ease with the group we have brought here. I poured out a honeycomb onto a graham cracker crust pie pan filled with apples. I referred to it as a humble pie offering to Citonga. Igor photographed the gift and we all walked to the old mission site together.
Robin said that the Citonga were communicating with her as Barry discussed the history of the old mission. Barry said there is a cemetery nearby where his people are buried. Robin commented that the Citonga conveyed to her that their people are also buried there alongside the Omaha people. This was an awestruck moment for me to have such a revelation. The Citonga bury their own and they do it alongside the Native American graves. Let me be very clear in my convictions, if anyone dare try to dig up graves in the Old mission, they will not survive their efforts. First off, it is illegal to unearth a Native American resting place. Secondly because the Citonga have buried their ancestors with the Omaha people you have no way of knowing what grave you are digging up. In light of this any digging in the old mission will be met with opposition by the Citonga. If anyone or group of people take this risk, I have no doubt they will never be seen again!
Barry led us in a prayer for the Citonga and for our safety, In praise of Jesus Christ our savior. We asked Igor if he had a message for the Citonga and he shared a greeting from the Leshy (forest dweller) of Russia. Igor had encounters with a clan of the Leshy who had friended a local. Last year Igor was able to meet them in a face-to-face meeting. Igor shook the hand of their leader and was given a greeting for the overseas friends of the Leshy. (American Bigfoot). This was a surreal moment in time for us. We were acting as a delegation for the Russian Leshy and the American Bigfoot. There was no precedent for such an experience and Igor carried out the message with diplomatic vigor. “He wished them peace and that they be left alone to their own land to live their lives.”
I stood next to Barry when he then requested that I present the gift of Honeycomb and apples to the Citonga. Derek and I had stood with Barry out in front of the group behind us as Barry addressed them in the Omaha language. Barry told them that his brothers Richard and Derek are bringing you a gift in appreciation for joining us here tonight. Barry directed me to go out and leave the gift for the Citonga. D and I walked out into the darkness with some moonlight guiding us. I asked D where we should present the gift and he said a large tree approximately 100 or so yards from where we had stood. I noticed an area that appeared to have logs in a circle and commented that they probably spend time here. D was certain the large tree was the appropriate place to gift them. I handed him the Apples/honeycomb pie and D addressed the Citonga in the Omaha Language. He then placed the plate at the foot of the tree, We then turned to walk back to the group. I had looked around but did not want to be disrespectful if they did not want to show themselves. Although I was calm and had done similar things like this it was a privilege to have been a part of this exchange.
Robin told me when we returned that a Red haired Citonga had ran between us as Derek and I walked to the gifting spot. She said that also a Black haired one had run down by where we were too. I didn’t notice any of this as we were walking in the dark. The Citonga move so quickly unless you are looking from a distance you may miss their presence. Robin then stated that they are all around us and are curious but not mad at our presence. I got the impression our gifting was successful in conveying our respect and drawing attention to our message. We stood there and watched the area that we had left the apples and honeycomb. Several people said that saw movement by the tree. We examined a large tree structure I had pointed out at the entrance to the old mission and noticed it was two large arches connected. Igor photographed it the best he could given the low lighting conditions.
We gathered to drive back to camp. It was almost 3 AM so we thought activity could occur in camp at this hour. As we drove down near the spring area a yell was heard by Barry on his side of the vehicle. He, Derek and Dennis, all heard it. I had my reordering running and may have caught it. Barry said it was loud and right outside our car. We stopped and got out to see if we could find anything or hear it again. No other sound was heard but Igor mentioned it may have been a response to our greeting. You never know when interacting with these Citonga what and when something can occur that relates to these hominoids. Barry said we can expect more activity at camp, so we drove back to Hard knocks.
Camp hard knocks had a moon light ambience as we all took to our individual tents. Igor and I were in a tent together. I set up a tent next to mine for Robin and Pat McCray. Then Barry and Derek’s tent and Terry Podraza had a tent to complete our group of tents together. Don was sleeping cowboy style in the open air about fifty yards from us to the south. (He just had a rope hung between two trees for his clothes to hang.) Kenny had a tent with Art to our north again another fifty yards. Dennis Wilcox slept in his suburban.
A whistle could be heard as we were settling in for the night. It seemed to be down below us, but the valley below was deceiving with how the sound carried through. We couldn’t figure out who or what was whistling but later Kenny told me it was him. There were several whoops that had responded back to each other that were Citonga. Igor and I drifted off but not before I decided to move my sleeping bag with Igor’s assertion that I should have my feet to the exit. It’s wise to listen to someone who has been in the bush for over fifty years with these hominoids. I heard some foot falls at one point, but it was so late I didn’t care and turned over to fall back to sleep. The rain fly gave the Citonga a look into our tent and I suspect that’s all they wanted to do was look us over.
Morning came quickly as we had turned in just a few hours earlier. This is how it goes with Rez Squatching; your time hear flies by. We pulled ourselves out of our sleeping bags and into our shoes to escape the confines of the tent. We talked about the activity around camp, and it was confirmed the Citonga had came through and did some whoops in the process. A tree was believed to have been pushed over at some point, but I didn’t hear that. I found out later one of our guests had brought a handgun and that is not acceptable. I know now why the Citonga pushed over a tree. We are on their land and a gun is a insult to them and the safety of their family. I was angry when I heard that and had assumed people would know the basics of Rez Squatching but I was wrong. We all signed a Nebraska Flag for Igor and ate breakfast then broke camp and said our goodbyes.
A surreal experience again for me as so many stories intersected here on the Omaha Rez. I am truly grateful to be back with my brothers Barry and Derek in the bush. When D left, he did four screams in a row to let the Citonga know he was leaving. D said that I always do four as a tradition of the Omaha people. AHO!
