Today our field reporter/photographer, Carey, drew an assignment to the Grand Canyon and other scenic points of interest. Therefore we've lost our guru and the blog that was posted this morning, i.e. Day 23, is the first edited by the new team of Mark, Ed and Tom. We've already received negative feedback from loved ones in regard to content and composition. We wonder that if our closest loved ones have this low of an opinion what other interested readers who are sharing our adventure vicariously must think. We do appologize but as Tom would say " It is what it is" and we will endevour to persevere. By the way there is no capability to upload pictures or perform spell check in this utility. Pictures will be added upon our return home. You'll also notice that the new team can't spell worth a darn. Hopefully we'll get close enough on all the words that you'll figure out what's meant and have a laugh at the same time.
Now for the good stuff. Folks, all good things must to come to an end. So this morning we pushed the "Go Home" button on the Garmin GPS and headed northeast out of San Francisco on I-80. The weather was a bit brisk for the first 100 miles. After Sacramento and as we approached Reno the temperature reached the mid 90's. We had lunch at Reno and struck out again across Nevada. The afternoon was extremely warm with temp's reaching 101 degrees. We ended the day after traveling just short of 500 miles at Elko, NV.
Ed, Mark and Tom have determined that by averaging 500+ miles a day for the next three days they'll be able to shave a full day off the schedule. Thereby arriving in KC on Friday instead of Saturday. The AR contingent will then make it home on Saturday if they decide to leave the comforts and hospitality that the KC host has to offer.
