Our goals for the day were to see the "Giant Redwoods" and to cross the "Golden Gate" on our scooters. We accomplished both but it was a long day. We started early, leaving Grants Pass, Oregon, at 7:30 am. Approximately one hour later we were at the Redwood National Park. We did the drive through the tree picture thing. Driving through the park with the trees towering skyward is really awesome. We continued on Highway 101 along the coast towards San Francisco. It was a foggy and somewhat overcast and you could barely see the ocean and shoreline. The trip towards San Francisco was uneventful but long (approximately 400 miles). The last 10 miles were extremely foggy and cold. To our dismay, the fog was really coming in and hid the Golden Gate and surrounding area from view. We did drive across the Golden Gate and return to the north side. We spent the evening in San Raphal just outside San Francisco. The day was very long and we covered over 500 miles. The fog and leaving the bridge after dark made us all a little nervous.
