Analysis:
Mikkel Gug is listed as an heir in this probate. He is listed as a dismissed sergent in Aalborg. Mette Marie Gug [Nollet] had a brother by this name. Mikkel [age 25] and Mette Marie [age 23] appear in the 1787 census as children of Jens Gug in Aalborg. In the census Michel is listed as a corporal in an Aalborg Regiment. Mikkel would be about 46 years old at the time of this probate and would be old enough to be released from service in the military. This gives indirect evidence that the Mikkel Gug in this probate and the Michel Gug in the 1787 census are the same individual. If our assumption is accurate, Mikkel's father's name would be Jens [Nielsen] Gug. From the 1787 census we known that Michael patronymic name would be Michael Jensen Gug. Maren Nielsdatter, the deceased in this probate, would be the sister of Jens Nielsen Gug [who is unnamed in the probate and listed as brother, dead] and the heirs of Maren would be Jen's sisters, a brother [dead], and his nieces and nephews, as well as his son Mikkel.
To summarize the information:
Maren Nielsdatter, deceased
Her husband [the widower] Niels Mogensen
Heirs of Maren Nielsdatter:
Mette Nielsdatter [living sister] and Jens Pedersen [brother-in-law] of Nørre Tranders.
Ellen Nielsdatter [living sister and widow] of Christen Bødker [brother-in-law] i Øster Sundby.
? Nielsen [Deceased brother] who is survived by his child: Mikkel Gug, dismissed soldier in Aalborg.
? Nielsen [Deceased brother] [His given name is not mentioned; however his children are named Christensen so we can assume his given name as Christen]. His surviving children are: (1) Else, (2) Johanne, (3) Simon, (4) Jens, (5) Laurids.
Service records of the Aalborg regiment for Mikkel Gug need to be examined.
Mette Marie is not listed as an heir so she must have died before 1808. Her death record needs to be found to verify that she dies before 1808.
Analysis of Probate #2
The probate of this man looks promising as the father of the deceased in Probate #1 because of the following:
His given name is Niels
He is living in Gug. Mikkel [one of the heirs in Probate #1] uses the surname Gug. Mikkel's father Jens is also known by the surname Gug.
The names of the heirs are the same as the brothers and sisters in probate #1.
Christen in Probate #1 names a daughter Else [possibly after his mother which is a common name practice in Denmark.]
Jens Gug also has a daughter Else
