Background: Growing up, Sakura was teased about her forehead relentlessly and her confidence and self-esteem suffered for it.  She was befriended by Yamanaka Ino who brought her out of her shell, but when the both fell for the same boy they broke off their friendship and became bitter rivals.  During the Chûnin Exams, they remembered the friendship they once had, but remained rivals at the same time.  They calmed down after his defection.

Sakura had always found Naruto to be annoying, but harsh words from Sasuke about what it meant to be alone made Sakura rethink her opinion and as time went on she began to respect and admire him just a little, though she was disappointed in his lack of maturity when Naruto returned to the village after training with Jiraiya.  Sakura meanwhile has trained under Tsunade to become a medical ninja.
