Game Comments: There is no doubt that #5 seed Niskayuna can score goals in bunches. Today the Silver Warriors certainly showed what their offense can do, as they attacked the visiting Cadets of LaSalle (#12 seed), winning 7-0. Jordan Angrist led the way with a hat trick; Toby Goldner finished with 2 goals and 1 assist, Tomasso Vato had a goal as did Nick Viggiani. Keeper Brennan Piper and the Nisky defense were solid, pitching the shutout. With the win, Nisky now advances to face #4 Bethlehem on Saturday.
Fri. 10/18/2019 4:15 PM Niskayuna 1-1 Averill Park (OT)
Game Comments: In the 9th minute, Keston Holohan goal, Adam Balogh assist, to put Averill Park on top. Balogh served the ball into the box, and Holohan walks ball into net during scramble. In the final ten minutes of regulation, Jordan Angrist's goal ties the game for Nisky. The ball came into the box, several bodies collide, keeper could not control ball with contact, drops to Angrist who poked it in, 1-1. With two minutes to play, Nisky hit the post on a 25 yard blast. In overtime, Nisky did not convert a PK, and the match ended in a tie. For Averill Park, goalie Erik Jeschke, subbing for a injured Quinn Goddard-Hathaway, played exceptionally at center back. Nisky had ten shots and Averill Park 9 for the game.
Tues. 10/15/2019 7:00 PM Burnt Hills 1-2 Niskayuna
Game Comments: The Spartans' Jacob Scott scored in the 26th minute of play, and it gave BHBL a lead that would hold for the next 30 minutes of play. In the second stanza, BHBL would get called for two penalties in the box and Jackson Bishop converted two PK's for the 2-1 win. Brennan Piper came up clutch down the stretch for Nisky.

Game Comments: The Eagles topped the Warriors today, 3-1. Sal Kanic had a rebound goal, Kenan Kanic a header from a Keith Winne assist, and Kiran Sood from Kanic made the Eagles three scores. Saidali Mesbahi scored for Nisky.
Mon. 10/7/2019 6:00 PM Niskayuna 3-4 Shenendehowa
Game Comments: Hope you were at Afrim's Sports Park tonight, and if not, you missed one of the great soccer games of the 2019 season between two of the section's best teams, played on a nearly perfect carpet, lighted, at the new facility at Afrim's. The first half showed Shen's technical and tactical ability as they built a 2-0 lead on beautiful ball movement and used their spacing very well. Midway thru the first period, Darien Espinal served a free kick into the box and Toba Akinyemi got to it first, and his touch to Brandon Barrett was a header to goal, 1-0. Shen doubled their lead a few minutes later when Mike Yates service upfield left Jaylin Sykes in a footrace to the ball with a Nisky defender and when Sykes won that race, it was in on goal and his shot to the corner made it 2-0 at the half. This half showed how dangerous a team Shen can be on the artificial turf. Early in the second half, Shen took what seemed to be an insurmountable lead when Emir Cekic's pass found Sykes again, and his cut by one defender sent him to goal and he didn't disappoint, 3-0. That's when Nisky's field leadership started to show. Cries of "there is no quit is this team" were heard as they started pressing every ball and linked some nice passes together to put the Plainsmen on their heels. Nisky scored three goals to tie the match in a matter of ten minutes. Oscar Mirkovic started the comeback for the Silver Warriors with his score. Then the Nisky pressure resulted in several corners where the Warriors were very dangerous in the air, and no one more so than Jackson Bishop, who had a great header for the second goal. Ian Klenk had the assist on the first score, and Jordan Angrist had the second. Pressure continued and when a player was taken down in the box, a PK ensued. Bishop stepped to the mark and found net, but the celebration by the Nisky players was short lived as a player had entered the area too soon, and the kick had to be retaken. Bishop was not shaken as he rippled the nets to tie the game at 3's. All the momentum was with Nisky and they looked headed for the comeback win, when suddenly, Shen showed they weren't done yet, either. Jacob Miller's service to the far post was sent home by Darien Espinal. Owen Brignati was impressive in the back for Shen, and the passes linked by Saidali Mesbahi, Toby Goldner, and Nick Viggiani in the second half were the keys to the Nisky comeback. It proved to be a great game to watch and the rematch come sectionals will be a game not to be missed.
Sat. 10/5/2019 3:00 PM Colonie 0-3 Niskayuna
Game Comments: Today Nisky beat Colonie by a score of 3-0. Nisky goals scored by Jackson Bishop with 2 and Oscar Mirkovic with one. Jordan Angrist and Jack Gathen added assists. Oscar Mirkovic, Ian Klenk and the Nisky defense preserved the shutout.
Thurs. 9/26/2019 6:30 PM Niskayuna 1-3 Albany
Game Comments: Albany defeated Niskayuna, 3-1. The Falcons carried a two goal advantage into the half, with Hser Nay Wah and Muiz Bayewu finding the net and Harrison Leon adding an assist. After the break, Harrison Leon made it 3-0 off a free kick strike. Nisky would score off a penalty with a little over five minutes to play, Jackson Bishop beating Albany’s Daniel Pollydore who finished with 3 saves. Nisky Brennan Piper has four saves in net for Nisky. The Falcons had the advantage in corners 5-3.
Sat. 9/28/2019 11:oo AM Niskayuna 4-0 Troy
Game Comments: The Flying Horses visited the Silver Warriors today and left in defeat. Nisky was led by Jordan Angrist with two goals. Jackson Bishop and Tim McCory rounded out the score sheet. Ian Klenk had two assists. The Warriors defense played fantastic, limiting Troy's offense. Brennan Piper had 3 saves on the day.
Mon. 9/23/2019 4:15 PM Niskayuna 3-1 Guilderland
Game Comments: Nisky beat Guilderland, 3-1, today. Scoring for Nisky were Toby Goldner, Oscar Mirkovic off an Ian Klenk corner and Mike Puccioni off a Jordan Angrist assist. Scoring for Guilderland was Illia Tyrkus off a Brandon Ford cross. Brennan Piper had 4 saves on the day.
Sat. 9/21/2019 11:00 AM Schenectady 0-7 Niskayuna
Game Comments: The Warriors bounced back after a tough loss and beat Schenectady, 7-0. Jackson Bishop lead the way with a hat trick, Tomasso Yato scored two, Mihir Randive and Jordan Angrist also added a goal apiece. Brennan Piper had 3 saves.
Thurs. 9/19/2019 4:15 PM Niskayuna 0-2 Shaker
Game Comments: Shaker upset visiting Niskayuna, 2-0, in a back and forth exciting game. Nisky was previously unbeaten and hit the crossbar a minute into the game. A few minutes later, Nisky goalie Brennan Piper denied Shaker with an open look from 8 yards out to keep the game at 0-0. Both teams generated some half chances, but the first goal came when Sam Bevevino slipped in Tyler Brennan to give Shaker the lead just a few minutes before halftime. At the start of the second half Nisky put Shaker on their heels, but Shaker withstood the 10 minutes of pressure and once again gained control of the game. Shaker's pressure was rewarded when Garrett Drake was taken down in the box and then he calmly converted the PK himself to give Shaker the 2-0 lead. Nisky pressured Shaker towards the end of the game, and Shaker's Sam Bevevino cleared a ball off the goal line to preserve the shutout for Shaker. An exciting end to end game. Nisky had 6 corners and 9 shots to Shaker 4 corners and 11 shots.
Tues. 9/17/2019 4:15 PM CBA 2-2 Niskayuna (OT)
Game Comments: In a high level game between two strong Suburban squads, CBA and Niskayuna walked away from a 2-2 draw today. It was the sectional final of 2018 rematch between the two.Toby Goldner got Nisky the halftime lead with his goal off a corner from Mauritz VanNiekerk. Paul Abatiello and Jack Mendrysa answered in the second half to put CBA on top. Mendrysa's goal came from Sumahri Stewart. In the 56th minute, the Silver Warriors got a penalty kick and Jackson Bishop put it away to knot the match and despite overtime, the game ended in a draw. Brennan Piper had 8 saves on the day for the Silver Warriors.
Thurs. 9/12/2019 4:15 PM Ballston Spa 0-3 Niskayuna
Game Comments: The Scotties of Ballston traveled to the Silver Warriors today, and Nisky came away with the 3-0 shutout win. Scoring for Nisky were Toby Goldberg with 2 goals and Christian Yannierk with a goal and an assist. Nisky controlled the flow of the game from whistle to whistle. Nisky's defense had a stellar game. Oscar Mirkovic and Ian Klenk held down the fort and helped Brennan Piper with a clean sheet. Ballston Spa played hard and their keeper was stellar between the pipes.
Tues. 9/10/2019 4:15 PM Niskayuna 2-1 Saratoga (OT)
Game Comments:
Today was an epic battle between Nisky and 'Toga. Nisky showed some amazing ball movement and possession most of the match. Saratoga played a very patient and team oriented defensive match that included several dangerous counters. The most dangerous was in the first half when they got on the board on a beautiful goal in transition. Nisky keep plugging away and remained calm and confident that they would get the equalizer and sure enough with 3 minutes left in the match Jackson Bishop struck gold in the far corner to level the match. In the overtime periods, both teams battled and Saratoga held the advantage, but again with under 5 minutes left Nicky's Jackson Bishop had his number called again and slotted home a free kick that sealed the deal. Both teams played well and stuck to their game plans.
