Malaysia

Malaysia is the northern neighbour of Singapore but it's more than just a neighbour. It's a kin, a relative, an extended family. Many Singaporeans have relatives living in Malaysia. I have my maternal grandmother, aunts and cousins living in Johor and Kuala Lumpur.

Singaporeans also like to go to Malaysia for vacations due to its close proximity. Malaysia has abundance of nature reserves, resorts, heritage towns, big cities for shopping, and beaches for everyone to enjoy.

I'm introducing two places here:

• Kuala Sedili, a.k.a. Tanjung Sedili, is a fishing village where my grandparents used to live. I spent many school holidays there, experiencing the country life with the cows, goats and chickens.
• Genting Highlands, Malaysia's one and only casino-integrated resort and theme park is high in the clouds. Here is where we escaped from the heat and humidity of the city to have a feeling of being on a holiday abroad we couldn't afford.

Malaysia has many more interesting places like Malacca and Penang which I've been to but didn't record my trips then. I will write on them when I have more recent opportunities to visit.
