HortPark is a 23-hectare park located in the South-Western part of Singapore. Nestled in the Southern Ridges, HortPark serves as a park connector that allows visitors to travel around Kent Ridge Park, Telok Blangah Hill Park and Mount Faber Park with ease and convenience. This is made possible through the elevated walkways and connecting bridges.
The Henderson Waves bridge is the highest pedestrian bridge in Singapore at 36m above Henderson Road. Spanning 274 metres, it connects Mount Faber Park to Telok Blangah Hill Park. The bridge is worth visiting for its artistic, distinctive wave-like structure consisting of a series of undulating curved "ribs".
Wheelchair Accessibility
HortPark and Henderson Waves are connected by the 1.3-kilometre Forest Walk that cuts through about 50 metres of secondary forest. The long walkway actually starts at the Alexandra Arch bridge at HortPark and is 100% wheelchair accessible.
My colleagues and I chose to start from the Alexandra Arch end of the Forest Walk just because HortPark is near to our office. However, I think you are better off starting from the Henderson Waves end as our trek was upslope all the way.
How To Get There
You can reach HortPark or Alexandra Arch via wheelchair accessible bus service 51 from Queenstown MRT station. There is currently no wheelchair accessible bus service to Henderson Waves. You can drive or cab to the top of Mount Faber and roll down to the bridge.
