GCAP Communications: Project Overview

“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. We need to go far and fast.”

- Al Gore -

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

This project will use the lens of new media and development communications to consider the internal, external and advocacy challenges facing the Global Call to Action Against Poverty (GCAP). GCAP is a growing alliance of civil society actors, including national coalitions, constituency groups and International NGO's working across 130 countries. It aims to challenge the institutions and processes that perpetuate poverty and inequality in the world, using mobilization as strategic process to organize and empower poor and marginalized peoples around the world.

Launched at the World Social Forum in 2005, GCAP has mobilized millions of people around the world to 'Stand Up and Take Action' against poverty, Locally, Nationally and Globally. At this critical juncture, GCAP is reviewing its impact over the past 5 years and reflecting on its current communications strategy in order to establish future communication strategies which can amplify its impact externally and inspire its movement internally.
