New Media Communications 2010 is a website developed for Professor Anne Nelson's renowned class at Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs.
New Media in Development Communication is an inter-disciplinary course that introduces students to advanced concepts in new media skills and policy, with an emphasis on applicability in developing countries.
The world is in the midst of simultaneous revolutions in communications technologies and the attitudinal changes brought about by the forces of globalization. The media plays an increasingly crucial part in international affairs, both in affecting and recording change.
The course gives students hands-on experience with new technologies, combined with the opportunity to create strategies for researching, planning and executing complex projects to meet development goals.
