To work for the CCC you had to be eighteen years of age.

The wages we would make would be a dollar a day. In a months time twenty-one dollars would go home to our families and we would receive nine dollars a month. No other job paid better than CCC.

The army officers ran the CCC projects in Nemaha. This was a well run organization compared to the army.

What were the working conditions like?

The working conditions weren't that bad. In the wintertime it was very cold because there were no heaters and summer was very hot because there were no air conditioners.

What equipment was used to work on the Lake Nemaha?

The equipment we used was mills, wagons, and trucks. These were used to transport rock and lumber back and forth.

Do you think anyone else at that time could do such a project?

At this time no one else could do such projects that CCC could because no one could afford it.

What other things were built or worked on by CCC?

There was a police dog that was there all the time. This dog soon became our mascot. The name of the mascot was Pancho.
