G25 VS DFGT

Update 2013

I got my hands on a g27 and have used it for 3 weeks on both ps3 and the pc. The wheel itself IS NO BETTER then the dfgt. Less buttons .. so on.

Still the pedals is what sets the 2 apart, the g27 pedals are so much better it is not even close. Also optical pots DO WEAR OUT. My g25 pedals are shot and no longer can be used and I need to change the pots or toss the pedals. Lasted about one year of nightly use.

PURELY MY OPINION AND FACTS I HAVE GATHERED, NOT SAYING I AM RIghT OR WRONG TAKE THE INFO AND MAKE YOUR OWN DECISIONS. \\\

My Ratings: 1 out of 10 /10 being best

Wheel : 8 extremely quiet and response, with ffb on the wheel feels so racey!

Buttons :10 No wheel for this price will give you this many easy to use buttons. In fact most wheels that cost more fail to give you so many options.

Pedals: 3 THE PEDALS are the downfall, if Logitech match this wheel with g25 pedals I would give this wheel a 9, the pedals while usable remind me

of the pedals that came with the black momo but newer better more upgraded advanced technology.

If I had extra money to blow most likely I would by a g27 1st, then the g25(only because the pedals are better), but in my case i already have a tsw / momo and the dftgt, a set of g25 pedals and a bodner box, just so much one man can have lol.

Okay, after doing a ton of research for over a month. I have found a Driving Force GT for $62.00 at sams club.

So.... I am a total non believer of FORCE FEEDBACK, every force feedback i've driven to this date as felt like i was driving a washer machine.

I hook the wheel up to my PC, download the driver and something goes wrong with my sounds. Really messed up. The headset also Logitech

I uninstall driver reboot. Re install somehow fixed itself. I re install driver every thing works great.

all systems go! Time to check out my new toy, the wheel many call plastic junk (including myself) because they don't know what there talking about, and as you will read I found out differently below.

I set the settings how the guy above in my post shows and I hop on the track with a friend who is using a g25 with the FFB OFF, he doesn't like ffb for some reason.

Past history I HATED FFB, It have always been loud and artificial in my prior experiences .

A lot of people say there like a plasticity toy, but it reminds me more of like a 300zx RL wheel, a lot of do dads and junk without the leather, last time I checked leather does not make you go faster.

I hop on the track, Milwaukee mile, immediately I feel the road. I am amazed .

I turn a few careful laps because on my high dollar wheel the same set up feels loose. THIS DOES NOT FEEL LOOSE :):

In fact in a half hours time I had the feel of the wheel down and flat footing it around the track in traffic, within a few laps I had the second fastest time in the session of 30 drivers.

Still getting used to the wheel and its feel. During the session, I was and am not used to feeling every little bump that the laser iracing scanned track has to offer. MIND BLOWING EXPERIENCE $60 dollar wheel im turning more controlled laps then my $560 wheel. I am sure in a day or 2 I can equal or beat my practice time with some drafting help which is record as a top ten practice time in the world records for the track.

There is no doubt in my mind I can turn as good a laps and maybe even better once I get used to the FFB.

Everything the developer from logitec in the video says is true. Everything Shaun Cole says in his SRT video is true, everything the producer of grand turismo is true!

you can not be more wrong. About the DF GT the wheel is much different then the old one in perfomance, and would could be as good as a performer as a G25 wheelwise. (forget the pedals they still suck) .

No offense but the guy doing the video review below has been racing for alot of years. I trust his judgement 100%, and he shows the proof in the video by demoing the wheel and even interviewing a engineer from the company. If you read the link to the bottom of my post go to 3/4 down the page they alos make same points that Techwiz makes, I guess he was not the ony one with the opinion that the g25 shifter is sub par anyway.

From the video below it pretty much agrees with TechWiz101.

I signed up for this forum just so I can post this... dfgt its more then a couple more dials.

People post things without doing the research. I want to make sure people reading this understand what there researching when they consider a g25 / df gt and a df.

The DFGT is the newsest of THE 3 WHEELS AND HAS THE NEWEST TECHNOLOGY.

I repeat.............

The DFGT is the newsest of THE 3 WHEELS AND HAS THE NEWEST TECHNOLOGY. (not changing this because its the focla point of this post)

I m not really posting this to argue F1fanatic, because I won't be back here to defend my point (well so much for that, its amazing to me how people will argue with points made by the actual developer in the videos below lol/ ya lets argue with the guy that made the product. HE CLEARLY STATES THE FORCE FEEDBACK is better then the g25 and it has been improved). I will let the video your about to watch and the WHEEL engineer from Logitec do my speaking and back up my point.

There are 2 videos watch both carefully. I have a 600 dollar thomas super wheel wheel and I am seriously considering the DFGT wheel because of price and technology.

The pedals are utter crap and if using it for pc I recommend getting different pedals. Maybe even find used or new pair of g25 pedals somewhere.

For those considering this wheel watch this video b4 making a decision.. good luck.

Ryan Helme of iracing came up with a great option for your iracing buttons:

I found a slick way to control the Brake Bias using the red wheel on the DFGT wheel. Go into the Options menu and select the "Other" tab.

On the right column near the bottom you will see a set of options that says something like, increment selected, decrease selected, and so forth. So click on the increment and turn the red wheel one way and it will be button 16 I believe... now click on select decrease and turn the red wheel the other way... it should say button 17.

I used some of the other buttons to bind my controls to select the next item and so on, so now I can select I tire, use the red wheel to adjust air pressure and move the the next... or I can press the button in the red wheel to toggle changing the tire or not..

Pretty nice not having to use the keyboard at all to switch black box's and to select fuel and brake bias and everything...

I hope that this helps everyone in some way!

Cheers!!

Tenacious D Godzilla for a day

RenaultSport133 I highly recommend that u buy a G25.Even if u dont play PC sims that often, buy it.If u really think that is far to expensive then get a DF pro cause i personally think that DF GT is just a marketing trick and that there are not any major improvements...

As an owner of all three - save for the fact that my beloved DF Pro died last month - I can assure you that the DFGT is a marked improvement, and is practically as good as the G25. Pros and cons:

DFGT Pros

    • G25 feel and performance, nice rubber coating on the wheel, larger 11" wheel
    • Excellent force feedback and communication with your car, better than DF Pro
    • Same familiar configuration and use as DF Pro, with gas and brake pedal set, toggle shifter and paddles on wheels
    • Compatible with just about every PS3 racer, and with down loadable Wingman drivers, many PCs
    • All the essential PS3 buttons on the wheel, even Home and a "horn" center lit button
    • Menu and value button/wheel to change Prologue and GT5 settings on the fly
    • Much cheaper
    • Lighter, easier to set up

DFGT Cons

    • May not be compatible with some PCs or Macs
    • No clutch pedal, same pedal set as DF Pro
    • One drive motor, might matter to some, but functions the same as G25
    • Paddle shifters are just at your fingertips unless you have large hands

G25 Pros

    • Stitched leather wrapped 11" wheel with nice shifter paddles, separate rugged 6 speed shifter, heavy pedalboard with clutch
    • Two assignable buttons on wheel, a wealth of buttons and D Pad on shifter unit
    • Locking clamps for secure setup
    • Solid pedalboard is very hard to slip during intense races, even on hardwood floors
    • Securing points compatible with most racing rigs and seats
    • Compatible with PS3 and computers, comes with driver disc
    • Two motors control force feedback with authority
    • Very rugged construction
    • Some units come with a pack in game such as rFactor

G25 Cons

    • Expensive. over $200 US at least
    • Heavy
    • Buttons and D Pad on shifter unit are awkwardly placed, sometimes hard to use in race
    • Shifter can be hard to lock in place on polished surfaces
    • Some PC games require lots of work to get installed properly
    • Needs a bit more power
    • In a few games, FFB can be a little weak
    • If shifter paddles are flipped and bounce, they can inadvertently shift a few gears

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

g27 issues in rfactor does not feel as good as dfgt

Had the same problem with my DFGT and G25.

DFGT had such a beautifull FFB. I could feel every bump and got a real good response from tyres. (F1 68, specially at spa)

G25 just feels... i don't know how to describe. It's like I'm always sliding in fast corners of spa. Don't get any good feedback specially in fast corners. Slow corners seems fine. Also the bumps feel a bit different then with the DFGT.

So what i did:

Plug in G25, went to the controls panel (in rFactor2) and load the DFGT setting. Then I remapped the buttons on G25 and save as a custom profile.

Feels very good. Like the DFGT.
