Amongst the responses to the B60 questionnaire there were a number of apparently contradictory ones ...

In subsequent interviews it became clear what was to blame for the apparent contradiction - residents don't "expect to move" at the same time that few "will want residential care" since, very logically, they know there is no local care provision at the moment and, needs must, they anticipate ageing-in-place. Even though they are unsure about the capacity of local services to cater for thier anticipated needs.

In January 2015 a questionnaire on Rural Housing Need was distributed to all households in North Muskham by Midlands Rural Housing working with/on behalf of Newark & Sherwood District Council. In North Muskham 119 questionnaires were returned, a 28% return of the 428 questionnaires distributed. A report was produced soon after, but not widely distributed. Surprisingly, the North Muskham report contained no reference to local population structure or trends, even though its authors drew conclusions about local demand for affordable housing in the years ahead! Subsequently a proposal to build affordable housing was implemented, after efforts made by people close to the location to prevent the development did not succeed.

Much of the case for the proposed development was focused, very understandably, on the needs of young families wanting to get their first home. Given the trend of local 60+ population numbers, there will very likely also be future demand for more age friendly accommodation - residence & care expectations indicated by the B60 survey findings.
