The Main Survey 'Sample'

This page details the profile of the 'opportunity sample' of local residents who returned the main survey questionnaire in late 2015.
Anyone resident in North Muskham parish and aged 60 or over was eligible to take part in the research. On 2nd November 2015, the paper survey questionnaire was distributed to all 409 households in North Muskham since the Census indicated how many 60+ residents there were, but not where they lived. 101 completed questionnaires were received, 26 of which came from people who had moved away, or were not yet aged 60. The valuable data from the 26 non-eligible respondents was recorded, but not included in the sample profile or the data analysis.

The 'sample' for the main body of the research, representing 25% of their peer group (skewed towards female participants), were the 75 Muskham residents aged 60 or over, the B60+ group. Of these, well over half had come from the so-called 'young old' (60-74) subgroup. Most were retired and had lived a long time in the village.
