Artifact for Standard - Hardware Evaluation (EDA 6271, Spring 2012)
Reflection - The artifact I chose for this standard is the Hardware Evaluation Project because the project involved the investigation strategies of purchasing tablet devices for schools. I researched four tablet devices which included the BlackBerry PlayBook, Apple iPad 3rd Generation, Asus Transformer Pad Infinity and the Nexus 7. Comparisons were made of cost, operating systems, app variety, display size, thickness, weight, battery life and memory. The recommendation was made for the Apple iPad. This document will make purchasing iPads for schools easier on administrators because the research has been completed and it clearly identifies the main selling point which is the number of educational apps available, variety of apps and ease of use. It is necessary for administrators to have the research and data available when acquiring new technology resources for decision making and requesting the funds to make the purchase.
C. Participate in professional development opportunities related to management of school facilities, technology resources, and purchases.
1. Implement technology development at the school/district level utilizing adult learning theory.
Artifact for Standard - Institutional Mobile Learning Strategy (EDA 6933, Spring 2013)
Reflection - For this artifact, I chose the Institutional Mobile Learning Strategy that I developed titled, "Replacing Textbooks with Kindle E-readers in Clay District High Schools". This initiative is a large scale plan designed for the implementation of Kindle E-readers in all high schools in the Clay School District. I researched e-books extensively, documented advantages, stated the learning benefits, shared a pilot school study, suggested funding sources and created a budget. The adult learning theory utilized is a new concept of learning identified by Mark Sharples as a, "Theory of Mobile Learning."
