Welcome to my online professional educator and graduate portfolio. I am a recent graduate of the Educational Technology Leadership Masters Program at University of North Florida. I also have a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education with a teaching concentration in Pre-K to Grade 3 Education from University of North Florida.
In March 2014, I joined BridgingApps as a website content manager and editor. BridgingApps provides access, education, and resources for effectively using mobile devices and apps to improve the physical, social and educational outcomes for children and adults with disabilities. I work closely with the program coordinator, marketing and development associate and outreach coordinator to maintain site standards with regard to development.
Education has always been a part of my life and I knew from a very young age that I wanted to be a teacher. My mother and father are both teachers. My grandmother was a teacher. In fact, she began her career in education in 1936 in a little schoolhouse in Johnson, Florida. Her dedication to education and raising four children while working have inspired me tremendously. We have come a long way from slates and abacus to smart boards and computers in the classroom. I am passionate about technology in education and preparing students for a global society.
A society which is mobile, which is full of channels for the distribution of a change occurring anywhere, must see to it that its members are educated to personal initiative and adaptability. Otherwise, they will be overwhelmed by the changes in which they are caught and whose significance or connections they do not perceive.
John Dewey, 1916
