Educational technology leaders communicate research on the use of technology to implement effective assessment and evaluation strategies..
A. Apply technology in assessing student learning of subject matter using a variety of assessment techniques.
2. Provide technology resources for assessment and evaluation of artifacts and data.
Artifact for Standard - Google Docs Quiz (EDF 6442, Spring 2014)
Reflection: To show mastery of this standard, I created a quiz on Google Docs to assess 11th grade American History students on their knowledge of American Civil War Key Figures. Students are able to take the quiz on a computer or mobile device at their own pace. Self-grading quizzes provide students with immediate feedback and increase motivation. Additionally, teachers can view and share spreadsheets of the quiz data with the class. Another way to use Google Docs to provide effective assessment and evaluation is to create a pre-assessment at the beginning of a lesson. Then modify instruction based on the results. And, at the end of class give a quiz to assess knowledge of the subject matter.
C. Apply multiple methods of evaluation to determine students' appropriate use of technology resources for learning, communication, and productivity.
2. Conduct a research project that includes evaluating the use of a specific technology in a P - 12 environment.
Artifact for Standard - Classroom Technology Analysis (EME 6050, Fall 2012)
Reflection: For this standard I choose the Classroom Technology Analysis Assignment. I chose this project because it involved a research project that included evaluating the specific use of technology in a 2nd grade classroom. I observed a 2nd grade teacher instructing a language arts lesson using the Smartboard as well an in interview with students and the teacher. I concluded that Smartboards an excellent use of technology in the classroom and additional professional development for teachers on their use would be a good investment of the schools' technology funds.
