Artifact for Standard - Field Trip to Jacksonville Public Library (EME 6046, Spring 2014)
Reflection - The artifact I choose for this standard is my trip to the Jacksonville Public Library because the visitation involved hands-on research and observation of the best practices related to applying appropriate resources to affirm diversity and address cultural and language differences. Best practices included having a resource center in an easily accessible location for diverse learners, employing teachers who are able to communicate and teach the ESL literacy classes and having the appropriate resources available to the students. The resources included workbooks, worksheets, pencils, maps and a whiteboard. The goal of the classes are for English speakers of other languages to improve their pronunciation, reading, verb usage and conversational skills. While visiting the resource center at the library, I observed a Level 1 Introduction to English Course. When I returned from the library I reflected in a blog post about the experience and shared images.
