Using the 3D Printer

Using the Afinia 3-D Printer

Before beginning the to use the Afinia 3-D printer, you will need a STL

design drawing. This design is created using ProDesktop CAD program.

Step 1. Carefully remove the cover acrylic box from the Afinia 3-D printer.

Step 2. Prepare the perf board by clipping it to the base table. Make sure

the clips will not hinder the operation of the 3-D printer.

Step 3. Turn the on switch behind the Afinia 3-D printer

Step 4. Press and hold the initialize button on the front of the 3-D printer.

The printer will begin initializing, this will take a few seconds. You will hear

a beep when finished.

Step 5. Log on to the computer using the login and password located on the

computer. Open the Afinia software program on the computer.

Step 6. Select Maintenance from the 3-D print pull-down menu.

Step 7. Select extrude. The 3-D printer will then warm up and draw a small

amount of ABS plastic from the nozzle. This may take some time. You will

hear a beep when finished.

Step 8. Bring the lower table up to establish a zero point for the 3-D printer.

A good starting point would be somewhere between 130 and 134. This

distance should be the thickness of a calling card. Decimal increments can

be used. Do this by inserting a number and selecting the "To" button.

Replace the acrylic Box over the Afinia 3-D printer.

Step 9. Reset the Afinia to the new zero position by selecting the "Set New

Zero"A dialog box will appear, click "Yes"

Step 10. At this time you can load your STL File onto the Afinia program.

Step 11. Select print and change the properties according to your project. It

is recommended to use loose fill selection. Most other changes will stay the

same. Select 'OK".

Step 12. Select print and the preprocessing will begin followed by your product

to be printed on the 3-D printer.

Step 13. When your product is finished return to the maintenance menu and

lower the table to the bottom.

Step 14. If you are done printing turn the Afinia 3-D printer off from the switch

in the rear of the printer. Make sure the platen is lowered to the bottom.

NOTE: The product and the Platen will be HOT!

Step 15 Un-clip the pref board and your remove your product from the bottom

platen. Using a ink knife and bench hook. remove your product from the perf

board.

Step 16. Clean off any support material from your product.

Step 17. Last but not least clean the perf board by removing any material left
