In the spring of 2019 I completed an MS Instructional Technology at Fort Hays State University. This was an invaluable experience that has strengthened my understanding of the opportunities technology provides for education in online, f2f, and blended learning environments. See below some of the artifacts I created during this program. Also, you will see how this learning experience has affected my course designs described throughout this portfolio.
I completed an alternative route to professional teaching licensure with the TeacherReady program through the University of West Florida. I practiced applying the Common Core National Standards to grade 12 ESL learning experiences. Take a look at my reflections on the experience.
I completed an MA in TESOL from the University of Birmingham from March 2009 to December 2011. The motivation to complete this program was two-fold, to develop myself professionally through an increased understanding of learning theory, and to integrate these theories into my curriculum design to encourage the most effective learning experiences for the students in class. The results of the course were vast. My passion for integrating technology to increase learning opportunities was ignited while the skills to critically research, and present my findings academically was solidified.
The following is the dissertation I completed which examines the role synchronous chat apps can play in the development of learning strategy and learner autonomy.
