MCRTA Minutes
from October 18, 2019
Jo Weddle, President, called the second MCRTA meeting of the year to order at the MCPL Ellettsville Branch Library on Friday, October 18, 2019. About 28 folks were present. Refreshments were provided and enjoyed by all present.
Jo reminded folks about the upcoming meetings and shared various handouts. She focused on the next meeting at the MCCSC Service Building on Thursday, November 14 th from 1:00-3:00. During the meeting,“What's Happening Locally/Globally?”, we will hear from Melissa Adkins of Global Gifts and also Becky Mungle and Josh Livingston, principal and vice- principal of Templeton about their International Baccalaureate Program.
Donations to First Book will allow our association to purchase books for Templeton Jo also reminded us to continue to record our volunteer hours and prepare to turn them into Dianna Johnson in January.
Our program, Glorious Indiana Limestone, was presented by Mike Donham, a Bloomington limestone carver and owner of Accent Limestone. He told much of his background about getting into the business and how he went about various projects. He shared many slides of his work and backstories about many of his carvings. He and his firm have completed projects for individuals, cities, businesses, museums, cathedrals, parks, and more. His work was just incredible and his presentation was mesmerizing. Jo adjourned the meeting at 2:45 after Janet Nowling won the drawing for Mike's book about the Indiana State Museum limestone project.
Respectively submitted,
