2. Minutes: General Meeting, June 12, 2012, Approved.
3. General Concerns/Issues not on Agenda:
Neidigh shared recognition of Robert Austin (retired, MCCSC) by Franklin Initiative.
4. Financial Report: Mercier reported cash balance of $2,699. Accepted.
5. Membership Report:
Mercier, Horvath and Zager will consult and file report at next meeting.
6. Website Update:
Zager reported that 2012-2013 information about Paladium program and upcoming Bell Trace program is on web site. Other information needs to be shared to be included.
7. Wellness, Quality of Life Initiatives and Outreach:
Street reported that Program Chair, Shirley Pugh, investigating possibility of activity or series of activities focusing on these issues for retirees, including financial impacts.
8. Committee Reports:
A. Community Service:
Johnson reported that Carolyn McClary had shared previous information and has received assistance from Neidigh on communicating collection of volunteer hours. Johnson asked about how to get the reporting forms to members. Street will include in newsletter; Zager will include in group mail and on web site from electronic copy sent by Johnson. It was suggested that examples of activities be shared in newsletter, perhaps initiating more volunteer activities and reminding members to file reports. It was suggested that MCRTA establish a new, specific email account, accessible from the website, for members to file volunteer hour reports on a more frequent basis. This will be explored by Zager and Johnson.
B. Legislative and Necrology:
(1) Woods reported that legislative activity will begin in 2013. Zager reported that new legislators will be representing MCRTA area. District 62 will include part of Rep. Peggy Welch’s former District 60; Candidates are Jeff Sparks (D) and incumbent Matt Ubelhor (R). District 60 candidates are incumbent Welch (D) and Peggy Mayfield (R). In District 61, incumbent Matt Pierce (D) is unopposed. District 46 candidates are James Mann (D) and incumbent Robert Heaton (R). State Senate District 40 candidates are Mark Stoops (D) and Reid Dallas (R); this seat was held by Vi Simpson, candidate for Lt Governor (D).
(2) Woods reported that MCRTA retirees who have passed away since last report are Suellen Ann Taylor, Violet Cook Lynch, Gilbert Ray Bushey, Barbara June Mullin Hess, Frederic S. Brandenburg, Dr. John D. Robinson, and Carmelita M. Shields. Appropriate donations to IRTA will be made.
C. Publicity:
Keutzer reported that information needs to be at paper 2 weeks before it is desired to be printed.
D. Social:
Street reported that Benny Holt will be working with Frances Walden to handle refreshments for November Bell Trace acrivity.
E. Telephone Tree:
Fisher requested guidance on handling tree. Zager, Horvath and Mercier will coordinate getting membership list to Board containing addresses, email addresses, and telephone numbers. Initially, telephone tree will be responsible for notifying all new and second year members and all members who are not subscribed to the e-mail list. These will be delineated on list distributed to Board.
F. Programs:
A suggestion was made to hold a 2013 activity focusing on available volunteer activities, perhaps using City of Bloomington resources. Using Edgewood music groups as entertainment was proposed.
9. Newsletter:
Street requested information for the November newsletter. Zager will edit list of volunteer activities and provide information on subscribing to Google Groups lists.
