Planning for Differentiated Instruction
The competent teacher understands instructional planning and designs instruction based upon knowledge of the discipline, students, the community, and curriculum goals.
Rotation Centers
The objective of this Math class is to learn how to use technology in the most efficient, effective, and acceptable manner as teachers. Creating a rotation slide is one way to use technology effectively and efficiently for students. By creating this slide, the students can follow the change in group rotations each day. This allows the students to flow through the instructional plan with a knowledge of the discipline, while practicing independtly and with their peers with a curriculum goal mindset.
The slide changes daily based upon correction of each students exit slip from the previous day. Generally their are 3 question based upon that days lesson, this allow me to see who is demonstrating knowledge of the Math standard. Making it to group 3 on that day demonstrates that they have mastered the method of instruction, they will be working together the next day on more problem sets by themselves before coming to my mini lesson. Group 2 demonstrated an understanding with some corrections, they will get to work online tomorrow using Zearn first. Zearn is an application that is allinged with Eureka Math, if we are working on Module 1, lesson 3, all groups will be assigned Module 1, lesson 3 in Zearn to practice on. It is an enhanced application with teaching tools that assists the students in understanding the process of the days method.
This instructional planning and design allows the best flow of instruction during this time period. It allows me to spend more time with Group 1 who are finding it more challenging, either in the mini-lesson or after I have finished with Group 3 and they are working independently, I can sit with students to see todays mastery.
The students can get to collaboratively work together in two sessions if they chose. By completing all rotations within the lesson the students will be working of prior knowledge and meeting curriculum goals, all while incorporating technology at the same time.
