2015 MCASTA President
Midwest Chinese American Science and Technology Association (美中西區華人學術聯誼會) welcomes you to share our 32 years of history with the scientific meetings and social gatherings.
This year we honorably host the “International Symposium on Advances in Biomedical Devices (生醫與先進醫材科技國際研討會)”and MCASTA 32nd Annual conference.
The progress of the biomedical device field goes at the super-fast speed beyond imagination. We should be able to learn a few concepts and ideas from the invited renowned scholars and researchers. Professor Lihong Wang of Department of biomedical Engineering, Washington University is the honorary program chair.
The theme of the 32nd Annual Conference is “Confronting Neurodegeneration (抗老化的最新研究發展).” Dr. Der-Chyan Hwang is the program chair and Professor Grace Sun designs the program.
The two 2015 Outstanding Scholars, Professor Chi-Ren Shyu (徐啟仁教授 ) and Dr. Joseph Yang (楊文中博士) will speak their learnings from the ups and downs of their careers. Also a make-up speech from the 2014 Outstanding Scholar, Professor Grace Sun (孫張恩慈教授) will follow.
There is a popular “Financial Planning Workshop” in the afternoon chaired by Professor Hung-Gay Fung. The day program ends with the “Career Development- Panel Discussion” for the students and young scholars to connect/know the academic and industrial career opportunities.
Evening, the dinner speech, we are so pleased to have Professor Shong Huang (黄生教授 - 前台灣師大校長) give an easy/interesting lecture “紅樹生南國 ”. You can’t afford to miss it.
We are confident that you will like the programs we prepare for you and you can take some new knowledge and fresh ideas home.

Message from the Program Chair ...
On behalf of the 2015 Steering Committee, we invite all members of the community to the MCASTA annual conference "Confronting Neurodegeneration" to be held on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Crowne Plaza Hotel in Clayton, Missouri.
Continuing the MCASTA tradition, this year’s program will showcase the advanced scientific research in uncovering the aging process. The invited speakers from various research institutions will share their discoveries in the fight against Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and stroke.

In addition to the scientific session, the Committee has also organized a Financial Planning workshop to touch on Investment Planning, Estate Planning, and Retirement Planning. The day will end with a career development workshop for young scholars and post-docs where the panelists will share their career experiences.
We are excited to host this annual event. I am confident that attendees will walk away with the knowledge and resources to have important discussions and to start planning for themselves and their aging family members.
