DYNALEC Earphone Repair

I have this legendary earphone years. It may not be the most sensitive earphone, but definitely a quality earphone suitable crystal radio.

I try use DYNALEC in this round crystal radio experiment, and found one of them given less volume than another. I decide try to fix it if possible.

The earphone unit now came out of its case. Before proceeding further, here is a parts list for reference.

Take off the part number 7(magnetic claw), 2 magnets could be take out. It suppose to be very strong, but It is weak now.

I try to re-magnetize it via a very strong magnetic I scrap from a hard driver. But no matter what I do, it's still not strong enough, and even worse than before.

I decide to replace the magnetic with a very strong magnetic which I bought almost 10 years ago.

The 2 round-magnetic is pretty much same thick compared to original magnetic.

I had to broken the magnetic into 2 pieces alone with diameter to make it fit. And it does fit well.

NOTE: the hex screw connected to vibration membrane. Make sure both top and bottom magnetic claw had suitable free space.

Most important step is make sure the number 5 and number 7 claw is not touch the vibration membrane arm (Number 10 part). Result is pretty positive, now 2 earphone have same volume. This also proof another one is on good condition.
