THE much awaited road project connecting Jalan Harapan (Jalan 17/47) with Jalan Damansara in Petaling Jaya will be accessible to the public at the end of May.
The project had stalled several times in the past because of concurrent condominium and sewerage upgrading projects. Private land acquisition had also caused a delay.
Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) public relations officer Zainun Zakaria said the project was targeted to be completed by end of September.
“The project is still on. However, it progressed slowly in the past due to unforeseen reasons.
“Now our contractors are in the midst of connecting the roads.
“The public should be able to access the route by the end of May.
“Once the private land acquisition is finalised, we will complete the construction and do the necessary road upgrade works,” she said.
Zainun added the Jalan Harapan stretch would ease traffic flow for motorists coming from Jalan Universiti and areas such as Section 17.
The route will connect the former Jalan Universiti roundabout area to Jalan Semangat, Jalan Harapan and Jalan Damansara.
It was previously reported that Phase Two of the project, which spanned 1.3km of Jalan Harapan, entailed widening of the road into three lanes in both directions.
