Competitions
League - two divisions with a maximum of 14 teams in each. Play all other teams once home and away. Three to be relegated from first division; from second, two automatically promoted and next four in play-offs for final promotion place
Knock-out Cup - all teams enter
Knock-out Shield - all first round KO Cup losers
First Division Cup and Second Division Cup - KO competition open to all teams in that division
Senior Merit - open to all - no handicaps
Hornby Handicap - open to all; played off current league handicaps
Junior Merit - open to players with handicaps of 18 or more at the start of the season. No new players
Veterans Handicap- open to players over 50 on 1st January 2022; played off league handicaps
Young Players Handicap- open to players under 25 on 1st January 2022
Levenshulme Classic - open to all, no handicaps, £10 entry, winner takes all
The Masters; an invitation event held every five years
Only players who have been finalists in other competitions may enter
The next Masters will be held in 2023-2024, the league's 60th season
In all rounds up to the final, matches are the best of 3 frames. Players may arrange to play the match on any night that is mutually agreeable. Both players will be excluded from the draw for the next round if results are not received by the deadlines set.
Three man team
Pairs - one day event, usually on a spring Sunday
Manchester Open - individual competition open to players from leagues in Manchester
Interleague Competition - team tournament for leagues in Greater Manchester area (and beyond)
Not all competitions listed above will be held every season, dependent on interest, time etc.
Some are promoted by other organisers apart from the League
