RECTORY CROSS

Macleans Author's own Blight

Rectory Cross

Blight in 1858 stated that the cross had already been moved to the rectory gardens from the highway, which highway he did not say. Helstone lay on the edge of the deer park and had once been the site of the old court and was more important than Camelford. It hosted the royal hunting lodge and was closer to the mother church at Lanteglos than Camelford.

According to the 1843 tithe map there is a field called Cross Park indicating a possible location for this sturdy cross.
