Etymology of the names Helstone and Lanteglos

Lanteglos
Nanteglos = valley church
Lann = sacred enclosure or later church site
The first mention of the name Lanteglos was in 1189 as Lanteglos Park meaning the Deer Park.
The first mention of the church was in 1275.
The next known mention of the church was in 1291 in the tax records of Pope Nicholas 4th as Ecclesia Sancte Julitte.
In 1301 the place was called Nanteglos, however by 1779 it had reverted back to Lanteglos. In 1884 it became Lanteglos by Camelford to distinguish it from Lanteglos in Fowey.
