Citizen Science

Citizen Science falls into many categories, but in LCC Nature Notebook attention is on observing nature in such a way as to become more knowledgeable about the flora and fauna and their habitat to enhance personal enjoyment and to be able to contribute to:

• scientific databases such as Birds Canada's bird counts
• the Birds Canada associated Renfrew County Biotabase,
• impact of gulls on waters around Lornie Foran Island
• establishing a more diverse ecosystem on Lornie Foran Island
• monitoring the flora and fauna of the LCC islands and the lake's crown lands

Connecting and interacting with others with similar interests in the Ottawa River watershed is an easy way of becoming a more informed citizen scientist, consider joining:

• the Lake Clear Conservacny
• the Ottawa River Institute to engage in field trips and support their Water Ways news articles
• the Bonnechere River Watershed Project
• become a RiverWatcher with Ottawa Riverkeeper to access a network of cool information
