The proposed Big Rock Conservation Area is a.10 acre site surrounded by privately owned land. It's considered as a local cultural icon that people have enjoyed viewing and visiting for hundreds of years. It is also an area with a mixed biodiversity associated with the ?? meter high cliff and its extensive coverage of lichen and moss, the cliff's grass covered bedrock top together with a mixed white and red pine and red oak forest. The area's wildlife is noted for the decade long presence of peregrine falcons - a species of provincial Special Concern. It's also an area with no evidence that its natural features have ever been altered so it remains in its natural state attractive to field naturalists and artists.
