Patrick O'Keeffe

In 1897 Patrick O'Keeffe, later to marry Mary Anne Gallagher in 1898, enlisted. He participated in the 2nd Boer War 1900-1902.

His army record is in the attached files.

He received the Kings South Africa Medal, and also the Queens South Africa Medal.

John Gallagher

John Gallagher, son of John and Jane Gallagher, enlisted in 1904, and reenlisted in 1908 and again in 1911. When WW1 broke out John went missing. His record is below. Unfortunately for John he succumbed to the 1918 infamous Flu, and died in 1918 of Pneumonia.

William Pidgeon

In 1901 census, William is living with his sister Margaret Horan. He is down as an army private. In the file below, he was most likely a Dublin Volunteer who joined up for 5 shillings a day, to fight the Boers. And more likely he met John McGrath who later married his sister Mary Anne.
