Dread

The dread we feel at the possibility of failing to get it all done, or to make something happen, or to keep something from happening is feedback from our own love and intelligence, that we have invested our identity, well-being, and happiness in these conditions. When we pay attention we can make use of this feedback to divest our identity, well-being and happiness from these unreliable sources and invest it in that in our experience which is self-evidently reliable, ever-present, and so close to us that we overlook it - the presence of awareness, the natural ease of our essential Being - pure, open, empty, luminous awareness. When we divest our identity, happiness, and well-being from conditions and invest it, instead, in our unconditioned being - aware presence, demand and requirement become mere preference. We still prefer to get it all done, to keep adversity from happening, or to make something happen, but we no longer depend on it for our sense of well-being, fulfillment and security.
