Many of the examples shown are designed to be used with a template file. The workflow of getting data from Google Earth into a template is as follows:
1. Build your tour or feature in Google Earth and save as a KML
2. Open the KML in a text editor like SCiTE (PC) or TextWrangler (MAC), both free
3. Copy out the specific information from your KML
4. Paste the copied KML into the template
5. Save the template as a new KML file
6. Open the new KML file in Google Earth
What this does is allows you to keep the functionality of the template, with the inputs from your Placemarks.
