The Places menu is a great way to organize your files for Google Earth. You can create, move, copy, and delete files and folders in the places menu. Right click on an object and you will see the following options:

Add - Allows you to add various elements to the places menu
Cut, Copy and Paste - You can move data around like you would a word file
Rename - Allows you to change the folder or Placemark name. This can also be edited in Properties -> Get Info
Save to my Places - Save an element from Temporary places to My Places
Save Place As - Save an element to your computer to share it with co-workers and friends (or enemies)
Share with Google Earth Community - You can share your KML files with Panaramio, the Google Earth Community or Map Maker
Email - Open your email client
Directions - Get driving directions
Snapshot view - Saves the current view to the element you have selected (valuable when changing a pin camera angle slightly)
Properties / Get Info - This opens dialogue box based on the element selected. You can change the name of an element, add a description, and edit the color, height and scale of Polygons, Paths, and Placemarks.
