The Day Before

Preparing for leaving a place usually starts about a day ahead of time for us.

One of the first things I do is close the grey water tank. I want that tank to be as full as possible when I start disconnecting things the next day. Since we have a 38 gallon tank, this can take quite a while. I want as much grey water as possible to wash out the sewer hose after dumping the black water.

If we have been using the awning, I usually retract it the night before we leave in case we have a heavy dew the morning of departure. I don't want to roll up the awning when it is loaded with moisture, thus encouraging mildew.

We usually put up all camp equipment, too, such as the lantern, portable cook stove, and grill(s), and we remove the table cloth from the picnic table.

If we stay at a place for any length of time, I usually take the trailer hitch off the TV (tow vehicle); I usually put it back on the night before.

If we think it may rain, or if the morning dews have been heavy, we will probably pull up the carpet in front of our trailer door. Even though we usually stow this in the back of the truck, I would still rather mess with it when it is dry rather than wet.
