Handling Your Mail

If you decide to RV full-time, you need to decide how you will handle your mail.

Your first option should be to reduce your mail flow. You do this by going electronic whenever you can. For example, set up all communication to be paperless, whether this be insurance payments, bank statements, investment portfolio statements, or whatever. Paperless is not only easier for you, but it is better for the planet.

Even after going paperless, you will still receive physical mail. This mail will eventually need to find you. During our short time on the road, we simply rented a postal box in our daughter's town, and she checked our mail regularly. If anything important arrived, she could then call us, scan the information and email it to us, or forward it to our current location. If you do not have someone to check your mail, then there are numerous organizations that provide such a service. Here is a short listing of a few:

There may be other organizations out there providing mail forwarding services, but these are the ones that seem to be used the most by people I've been in contact with. As you look at these, consider the other services they provide, for you usually must join the organization to be able to use the mail forwarding service they provide.
