VIRTUAL RESOURCE CENTER
FOR
MANUFACTURING & TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT (CMTM)
[Page maintained by: Prof. Kaushik Sahu]
Objective: This virtual resource center will support manufacturing resource planning activities, undertake studies and disseminate knowledge related to manufacturing and technology management. The center would be adopting sound design-for-X methodologies in developing a collaborative knowledge platform for supporting various supply chain initiatives in the Asia-Pacific region.
Our immediate focus:
- Identifying partners interested in collaborating
- Establishing the Center for undertaking Customer Synchronized Manufacturing Resource Planning (CSMRP) activities (please see Annexure-I for technical details)
- Identify one or two industrial clusters and develop the cluster-specific blueprint for forming viable supply chain networks (please see Annexure-II for the technical details of one proposed cluster development study
- Identifying sample clusters for the purpose of online project monitoring
- Identifying engineering colleges interested in promoting projects specific to their locality
- Work with DSIR in linking the available knowledge base and developing a portal for knowledge dissemination
- To promote management education in manufacturing and technology
Deliverables:
- A manufacturing and technology management resource center for supporting some of the aims and objectives of the Technology Management Division of DSIR
- A case study highlighting the cluster-specific supply chain networks
- Information related to the status of the clusters in the state of Orissa
- A database of change agents (from industry and institute) interested in promoting Technology Management objectives
- A database of organizations having the potential to form regional Technology Management Centers.
- A portal for disseminating information related to Technology Management.
- An example showing how remote project monitoring can be facilitated through the portal.
- Pedagogic aids developed as by-products
Beneficiaries of this initiative:
- Technical & Research Institutes
- Industrial organizations
- Government agencies and policy making bodies
Stakeholders: We will encourage global participation and seek active support from the various stakeholders of the center.
- Do let us know if you are interested in supporting the objectives of the center.
- Please share with us your expectations from the center. It will help us in setting targets and formulating shared goals.
