Employer:Dr.I.R.Grosse, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Mechanical & Industrial Engg., University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA 01003 (USA)
Worked as a consultant for the various CAD/CAE modeling and simulation packages. Actively assisting students and researchers with the various courses and research related design and finite element modeling and analysis projects. I was a consultant for the integrated design and analysis package, I-DEAS. As a prime student consultant for the integrated design and analysis packages, also assisted Professors with their consulting activities. Some of the projects undertaken that can be linked to various product development activities are:
Design-for-assembly analysis and redesign of the NORELCO cordless beard trimmer. The I-DEAS solid modeler was used to obtain a solid model representation of the beard trimmer (both the existing model and the redesigned model).
Developed a program in Lisp for the layout design of a ventilation system.
Developed a heuristic rule-based system for the initial design of load carrying thin-shelled plastic parts in 3D. This system interfaces with the I-DEAS solid modeler.
Studying the effect of topological changes on the injection molding process for the purpose of developing a library of features necessary for making quick design changes. This work needs to be explored further.
