The CSM Library Makerspace is the first makerspace at an academic library in the Bay Area. The CSM Library Makerspace bills itself as a place for knowledge and skill sharing, collaboration, and most importantly making cool projects including hands-on, DIY do-it-yourself workshops, tinkering, and projects in electronics, crafts, media, and more!In addition to co-authoring more than one successful grant proposal to support the makerspace, among other things I was responsible for planning events and programming, coordinating with volunteer workshop instructors, promoting our events on campus, teaching workshops, purchasing supplies and managing budgets, liaising with faculty to plan and implement workshops and programs, and collecting and analyzing evaluations from students. The CSM Library Makerspace was my primary responsibility at CSM since its founding in April 2013.
Additionally, I shared our experience and what we learned as an academic library makerspace, most notably hosting a tour and panel presentation for BayNet called "Making a Library Makerspace: From Idea to Evaluation and Everything in Between."
Below are some select photos from past events at the CSM Library Makerspace. More photos are also available on the CSM Library Flickr page.
