One of the greatest challenges for Chinese EFL learners is distinguishing long and short vowels. Even after spending 2 years of alphabet and phonics instruction during grades 1 and 2, students still have trouble remembering rules of pronunciation/ spelling, and applying this knowledge to read newly encountered vocabulary. We discovered that these videos have a very good effect on the kids' pronunciation due to the simple and repetitive contrasts.
