A space of refuge for the wandering creative spirit.....A place to connect with other like minds on the journey..... comfy and intimate  studio that offers a creatively luxurious hideaway.

You will receive an inclusive & exclusive experience to your visit at Zingara.

In being a natural wanderer and conscious creator of our environment,  re-using, re-purposing & re-inventing  fuels creative spirit.   By using materials that are often deemed as garbage or recycling materials, the imagination is triggered into a deeper sense of use.  So here at Zingara  we encourage the re-creating of materials and scraps that others may quickly throw to the curb.

This space is dedicated to the 'Use What You Have' philosophies to create with.

Always available by private appointment for viewing and  one on one consultations.

Currently our 'tiny home' studio space is a very private experience of the senses - an eclectic  farm like setting, nestled in a rural community on the Sunshine Coast, B.C. Canada.  Call ahead and stop in to the artsy garden sitting space to rest & refresh while on a meandering walk, bike ride or drive.

Here you will find a place to seek kindred artsy friends, enjoy conversation and a beverage, and a source to find personal inspiration and solace on your journey through Healing Arts.

WHO?

Joanna C. Cooke—OJO

Visionary Artist, Writer & Colour Therapist

Using visual art, colour, crystals, sound, scent & taste to all flow together in creating an aesthetic embrace of the heart, body, mind & soul -  assisting in our biological rejuvenation.

Joanna is a Visionary Artist & Writer who celebrates life through the sun. For over 10 years she has traveled throughout Mexico painting, writing and studying the Cosmic Universe.  Born and raised on the West Coast of B.C. Canada, Joanna has found a symbiotic flow with the East Coast of the Riviera Maya in the Yucatan of Mexico, where she continues to explore at every opportunity between time on the West Coast of Canada.  Combining her early education as a Colour Therapist, her passion for art, and life experiences, she creates a platform to be reflected in her work.  Inspired by the mystery of the ocean, the warmth of the sun and the light of the stars and moon in the night skies, her art is born with enthusiasm and an inner vision.

Having mentored with local Canadian Artists such as James Picard & Robert Genn and studying art abroad in San Miguel de Alende along with fundamental learning at Langara College and a basis in Gold Smithing and Jewellery Design at VCC.  A broad spectrum of experience has been accumulated and added to Joanna’s style and techniques.

Joanna’s paintings and art installations have been featured in numerous solo and group exhibits and festivals in Canada, from Harrison Hot Springs to West Vancouver B.C. and in Tulum & Puerto Morelos, MX.  Her labyrinth work has been featured on HGTV’s “That’s Clever” and a published article in ‘Labyrinth’s of British Columbia – A Guide for Your Journey’, highlighting her public art installation in Langley B.C. at Sendall Gardens.  Joanna’s art can be found internationally with collections in Japan, Switzerland, Mexico, Netherlands, USA and Canada, with artwork also available in various retail and gallery locations in B.C. Canada and Puerto Morelos Mexico.

In designing an entry point to share through Sacred Geometry Joanna primarily works with the Labyrinth, Mandalas and the Flower of Life to continue on a journey of transformation, learning, healing and community. Most of her paintings reflect the symbolism of sacred geometry, whether as a sunflower, an abstract piece or a complex geometric design, you will find this common thread woven into her work.

Practicing the Sacred Healing Arts for over 30 years, with studies in aromatherapy, kinesiology, colour, sound, crystals, light, reiki, herbology, mayan shamanism, cosmology & art therapies.  In following this path a joining of the Artist & Healer as One has occurred to further guide  and flow into  her future directions.   She continues to learn through the process of creation with others and in the sharing of knowledge, the learning becomes even more profound.

To further expand horizons she offers instruction, gatherings, retreats, private sessions, 3D installations, and collaborative projects, assisting others through a creative outlet on their journey.

' The purpose she shares on the journey of life is to plant seeds of creation through art & knowledge, inspiring others to know, be, trust, see & love who they are.'

Vision For Growth....

Our Vision For Growth....

Future goals and  development are in the creative process to locate to a large area of land for the construction of several small Guest residences, hosting Healing Arts Retreats Central Building, and the creation of an Artists in Residence Program are what we aspire to share.

A big and airy studio space , allowing for large canvases and space to get hands on messy  in classes for visitors and locals.

A Zen Den that is completely power free with an open and airy natural environment for either healing work or art therapies.

A Labyrinth Garden is to host fruit trees and a vegetable garden.  A large scale 3 circuit heart labyrinth to meander with a bench to contemplate and give a place to seek solace or inspiration.

To further host guests,  artists in residence programs, retreats, classes, workshops, private sessions and on going seasonal events.
