Making Sacred Spaces

An introduction to finding and using what items and spaces can be used to create your own sacred area of refuge and solace.

This can be as small as a dashboard altar, a complete room, a garden scape or even your entire 3D world can become Sacred Space.

The benefit ofcreating a scared space is the 'knowing' that there is always a place you can come to physically or mentally to bring balance.  Even if you are unable to get to your physical sacred space you can in the moment take a breath and see it in your minds eye, to smell and feel in your memory of its experience in physicality.

It is always there wihin you.

Setting Up Your Space:

Begin....... with the Elements.

Adding the essence of life and ancestral knowledge with nature using plants,  rocks, shells, sand.  Take time to feel the essence of the Earth  to bring a grounded connection to your daily experiences. Walk outside barefoot, run your fingers in the sand, sit on a rock, play in the leaves - connect with the Mother Pachamama.

Combine the element of Water with a small glass or vase.  Enjoy the liquid elixir of pure distilled water whenever possible, the body, mind and spirit are all rejuvenated through this magical alchemy. Cleanse and purify the body within and without, swim in the oceans, lakes and rivers, drink from the purest forms you can find.

Air is our essential element of life and to honour those that soar amongst the skies with feathers in our spaces gives a sense of freedom and oneness with this element.  Close your eyes and use a feather to fan yourself and feel the breeze upon your skin, allow yourself to drift and float in this space.

The life sustaining essence of Fire can be represented with a single small candle, or the intense heat of large leaping flames.  In connecting with this powerful force focus your attention into the flame and let the inner visions come through their mystic imagery.

An eternal Source and centre point where everything is everywhere at once.  The space of nothing and  in harmony with mind and nature. Stillness is where to reside in this realm of  creation. make the time to sit in absolute quiet stillness within, listen for the insight and guidance that comes in this space. 


Adding The Six Senses......

What Taste are you most attracted to? savoury, sweet, sour, salty, spicy - add a small bottle of what is pleasing to your palette, honey, vinegar, salt, citrus, hot peppers.  Place a dab on your tongue and allow it to sit in your mouth and slowly begin to permeate your entire body.

Scent is one of our most pleasing senses, the aroma of incenses, resins, woods, florals, herbs can all be used fresh or burned.  Breathe in these  luxurious gifts of nature into every cell of your being in every instance available.

Sight is often associated with what brings you joy (or sadness) in an emotional sense and can often be attached with an object,  photo or memory.  Place a visual representation of something that brings you great joy and elevation and place it somewhere you will see it every day.

Sound is another vibrational energy that resonates within.  Listen to your favourite music, use crystal bowls, play with various  instruments, sing, talk.  Feel the experience of your bones as they vibrate with the tones and notes.

The question: what is Inner Knowing?  ......That little  metaphorical voice within, that deja vu moment, that dream that never erases from your memory, that split second you 'change your mind'..... the messages that come through number sequences, body sensations, visions, the power of written words, random objects in your path, nature messages, and uh-huh moments??? YES, pay attention, to ALL !!!  


Important Aspects......

Light in the form of sunshine is of utmost importance through our eyes in retaining healthy body functions, but also the affect of candles, fire, or even LED lights can be emotionally soothing.  Finding a 20 minute time slot to bathe  in the light can uplift all the senses together.

Working with Colour is wonderful for our physical vibrational energies. Place your favourite colours in your environment and on or in your body directly.  Allow time to energetically ponder the glorious affect of these colours surrounding you and feel them in your energy centres.
