Route Description

PA State Route 43

PA 43 is a short .3 mile long state route that runs from a intersection with US 209/PA 999, along PA 481 (Humphrey & Garth Rd) to a intersection with PA Turnpike 43 (Kate & Lilly Tpk).

PA Turnpike 43 (Kate & Lilly Tpk)

PA Turnpike 43 is 70 mile tolled turnpike co-owned by the PA Turnpike Commission & Alpha & Omega City Highway Authority (A&OHT). PA Tpk 43 starts from a intersection with PA 43 & PA 481 (Humphrey & Garth Rd) in the Midnightville, PA township. Then PA Tpk 43 runs into a interchange with I-581 / US 11E (Jesus Christ Exwy). After this PA Tpk 43 comes to its tolls. After passing the tolls the turnpike comes to its first exit (not tolled for northbound traffic) with PA 88 (Ronno Rd). After this the turnpike travels for another 9 miles before coming to exit 2 with US 119. The turnpike then travels for another 8 miles before coming to exit 3 for US 40. The turnpike then travels for another 10 miles to exit 4 for Severtown Rd (CR 134). The turnpike then travels for 20 miles to exit 5 for I-70. The turnpike then travels for another 10 miles to exit 6 for PA 55. The turnpike then travels 20 miles to exit 7 for PA 866. The turnpike travels for another 10 miles coming to tolls and entering West Virgina as West Virgina Route 43 then just after the tolls coming to exit 8 for WV 43 (Washington Blvd). The Turnpike (now not tolled) travels for another 3 miles to its current end at exit 9W & 9E with I-68 in Alpha & Omega City, WV.

History

The turnpike was decided by the PA turnpike Commission & West Virgina Government as a major link from TyCloud Park,PA (via I-581) and New York City (via I-79 [Penn. Tpk]) to Alpha & Omega City,WV. This was decided as it would make the congested US 40.
