LAHOUL- HAMARI KARAMBHUMI
Lahoul- Hamari Karambhumi on Facebook
The grandeur beauty and loneliness, of the Lahoul valley stands unravel in the Himalayas .It has a very difficult terrain with snow covered peaks and most inhospitable climate The valleys, Gompas, Temples, buildings and its ancient sophisticated traditions are unique features of this border highland.
Rohtang Pass [3,915 m] is the main gateway to this paradise. Now the government has decided to connect this paradise with rest of world through tunnel up to 2014. It will definitely develop the area into more exposed and advanced tourism hub. The people are mainly busy in agriculture however many of them are working in government and private sectors also.
Lahulis are basically known for their rich culture and tradition but still they are more access to the modernism and stepping towards 21st century at war foot speed. We can truly say that for a man whether with a camera or brush, Lahoul indeed is a paradise.
Best Wishes:-
May the coming year bring lots of happiness, success, fun and good health to all and enjoy every second of life with prosperity.......

*********************************************************************************************************
The Lahoul for centuries remained isolated from the outside world. But now at present it is difficult to visualize that Lahoul was a land locked area in the past. Nature has endowed Lahoul with fascinating and interesting features . It attracts visitors and tourists to explore and write about its hidden grandeur. The snow capped peaks excite the energetic hikers to undertake expeditions and face the challenge of climbing the high mountains.
OBJECTIVES
History is the life breath of Nations. Whenever a Nation or a community forgets the basic deeds of his ancestors, it can not survive for long. So it is necessary to enshrine such deeds in our hearts. The present work has been undertaken to fulfil the connecting account of the past events. In recent years the scholars have commenced to pay more attention to the explorations of the history of Lahoul. I personally appreciate this kind of attention because such an exercise, according to me, is an urgent need of today's youth, who is blindly following the western lifestyle totally ignorant of the rich and glorious past of his native place. It is my prime duty to contribute, at least a drop in the ocean, to construct a precise well knit and macro view of the unexplored aspects of my native place Lahoul. So I decided to endeavour the life of Lahoul- 'Hamari Karambhumi'. The materials in this respect is very scanty. There is a lack of proper historical material i.e. the account of public events with the dates of their happening. In the absence of such material it became very difficult to construct the history of L;ahoul but the folklore and travelogues provide information about some disconnected historical events relating to different ages. In early times in spite of Kullu supremacy they succeeded to retain their culture with few impacts but now some minor changes are visible causing harm to our distinct culture which we have to preserve at any cost. It is human nature to accept new developments for our convenience or any other reason and to say that same thing happened with Lahoul will not be an exaggeration. I appreciate new developments in various fields like education, transport and communication etc that is essential in this advance society but at the same time we have to preserve our distinct culture. I hope this work of mine will be a step towards this direction.
Another objective of this work is to provide valuable information regarding history and lifestyle of Lahoul to the youngsters and to those scholars who are really interested to gain knowledge about their native place or doing some research work. One of my known, doing research work related to Lahoul was very much disappointed because he had to wander from one library to another in search of materials. It was not possible for him to give his valuable time in wandering and searching only because he was an employee of a private institute. When he shared his problem with me the idea of framing such a site striked in to my mind and from that very moment I started working on this site. However, my present work may not fulfil the expectations of my all viewers but as earlier said that my work is - just a drop in the ocean. I invite my viewers to give their valuable suggestions regarding our site. However I tried my best to collect all the information but there are still some lapses. We all know that Spiti is an integrated part of Lahoul but we have not mentioned anything about it. The main reason for this is that, If I would have taken the whole area, I would not be able to justify any of the topic. So as a first attempt I have decided to take Lahoul only. At last, I take the responsibility for my lapses or shortcomings that might have been crept in my work. .
