Ivan Filipe de Almeida Lopes Fernandes

Professor of the Bachelor of Public Policy (BPP) at the Federal University of ABC (UFABC) and also of the Postgraduate Program in Public Policy (PPGP) at UFABC. He is a member of the faculty of the Bachelor of Science and Humanities (BCH) at UFABC.

He is the current vice-coordinator of the Graduate Program in Public Policies at UFABC (PGPP). He was vice-coordinator of the Post-Graduate and Specialization Course in Human Rights Education at UFABC (2017-2018) and BPP (2016-2017).

Coordinator of the Foreign Policy Observatory of the Media in CEBRAP (Brazilian Center for Analysis and Planning) together with Prof. Maria Hermínia Tavares de Almeida.

Bachelor of International Relations from the Institute of International Relations (IRI) of the University of São Paulo (USP, 2007), Master and Doctor of Political Science from the Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Human Sciences (FFLCH) of the same university (2010, 2014). He was a visiting researcher at the Department of Political Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) in 2012.

He was a professor in the Law and International Relations courses at Faculdades Metropolitanas Unidas - FMU (undergraduate), in the Political Science course at the São Paulo School of Sociology and Politics - FESP (postgraduate), and in the Continuing Education Program at the Polytechnic School from USP (specialization).

He has published articles in several journals such as Economic Letters, International Political Science Review, Foreign Policy Analysis, Brazilian Political Science Review, Revista de Administração Pública, Revista Brasileira de Sociologia, Pontes – Informações e Análises sobre o Comércio e Desenvolvimento Sustentável, Journal of Addictions, Addictive Behaviors Reports, among others.

Research area: Comparative Politics, Political Economy, Decision Making, Public Policy Analysis and Foreign Policy; and Public Policies related to Alcohol and other Drugs.
