The 2026 route was a modified course due to damage from Hurricane Helene. Runners ran out of Damascus on a temporary alternate Creeper Trail (back roads and sidewalks) before runing up to the Iron Mountain Trail. Once past the Straight Branch Trail the course was like normal years until returning through town.

Weather-
Warm/hot up through the afternoon (mid 80s). Scattered thunderstorms mainly in the early afternoon. Then the heat came back. The course was relatively dry (up until the rain).
